  • Introduction To Sewing - How To Set up Your Brother Sewing Machine
    This is the only video you ever need to watch on how to set up your sewing machine. It is precise, straight to the point and very detailed.
    Perhaps you just got your first sewing machine, or you finally brought your sewing machine out of the loft and now you want help on how to set up your sewing machine.
    This tutorial is aimed at new users as well as users who feel that their skills are a bit rusty.
    This sewing machine tutorial will take you through the step by step process of setting up a sewing machine with a vertical spool holder.
    I will show you how to set up your sewing machine using specifically a Brother LS14 sewing machine.
    This Brother LS14 sewing machine has a horizontal spool holder.
    It does not matter what sewing machine you have, the principles are the same.
    if you follow the guidelines, you should have no problems in setting up your machine for the first time.
    There will be another video which will show you how to set up a sewing machine with a horizontal spool holder.

    I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart i swear i haven’t seen such a brilliant tutorial on the basics of sewing than i have ever seen of this. Its the first time i struggled to put a bobbin in properly i watched for a good whole hour. I gave up at first but then i said to myself I’m not giving up know matter how hard it is. Eventually in after 3 hours of perseverance i managed to mend my clothes and i was so chuffed. Thanks a million God bless you ❤❤❤❤

      Awww, thank you. I made the video because, when I ran my classes, I noticed that people who had been sewing for years never took the time to understand the basics. They would spend days troubleshooting a one-minute issue. That is why I took my time to go through it as thoroughly as I could..

I had a break from my machine and had forgotten about going round the disc on the top for loading the bobbin and NOT when threading the machine AND how important to thread around the slit in the bobbin holder for perfect thread tension for correct stitches.

    Can't just walk away without liking , subscribing and commenting as my gratitude to you. You have done a wonderful video, very well done with your full heart to make sure everyone understand well explained and different angle. You sent in audience shoe to make sure your BB time is not wasted. There are lot of videos, people make just to make views or sometimes cuz they are not that efficient as you like people to angle the camera or the instruction . I was able to follow the top but bottom where the needle, my machine seems to be missing a part to follow. May be mine broke or it's little older. Regardless I enjoyed your video and learnt something. Thank you.

    Hi ! First time use of a sewing machine here.
    So I can either use the thread from the spool or the thread from the bobbin (learning the lingo forgive me if i'm using it incorrectly). In this video you are showing how to use either one correct? So when we set up the bobbin we thread it up and around going through numbers 1-5 like we would if we were using the thread from the spool?
    What are the pros and cons from using one vs the other, and you said to make sure the tension of the thread when sewing the first few stitches are tight on top and bottom but you mentioned to especially check the thread coming from the bobbin so I feel like I missed something. Are both of the threads from spool and bobbin are used at the same time? Please clarify and thanks in advance!

    • @CraftMeetsCooking
      @CraftMeetsCooking  2 месяца назад +2

      You have to use both. Let me simplify this for you. Imagine you are sewing with a needle and thread, you have to sew the top and the bottom, you put your needle through the top and the bottom.
      Now, I want you to take any item of clothing you have and look at the stitches, it has stitches on the top and the bottom.
      The bobbin thread sews the bottom of your fabric and the spool sews the top and together they ensure that your thread holds together.
      If you run out of bobbin thread while sewing, your garments will not sew properly. I hope this makes things clearer for you.

    • @ilonkasha
      @ilonkasha 2 месяца назад +1

      @@CraftMeetsCookingthank you for your response! So does that mean I take the thread from the bobbin and thread through the needle the same way like the spool over the back/top through steps 1-5? Or do I thread the needle from the bottom. I’m imagining the former so it doesn’t get tangled up?

      My sincere apologies for not responding earlier. One of the reasons for not being able to replace your sewing needing is when you try and fit it in using the wrong side. If you look carefully at your needle, it has two distinct sides; one side with a rounded side and one side with a flat side. The rounded side should always be facing you.
