    Update:
    When winding up the bobbin 🧵, I should have wrapped the thread around the guide (the round short knob on the grey platform, back left), then the thread will wind evenly without me holding it.

    • @icannotbeseen
      @icannotbeseen 3 года назад +2

      Speaking from experience, if you don't wrap it and wind at really high speed, you can cut into the grey plastic bit *cough*
      turns out there's an actual ppoint to the knob xD

      @@icannotbeseen hi I don’t see connection between touching the back of the needle and then can thread the needle easily? Haven’t missed something ? Great vidoe other wise!

      I wet the back of the needle, the dry thread then gets drawn to the back of the needle. Strange but it works! 😄

    Just had this machine arrive from ebay with no instructions. I've never touched a sewing machine in my life so was a little daunted. This video was a massive help and I've just done my first stitches after following these instructions, very well presented. The machine is for my daughter, she will love it ❤️

      I love the Brother LS14s. I’m a member of a few FB sewing groups and this is always highly recommended for beginners. It works great. So long as you back stitch at the beginning and end of your work, same as with all sewing machines, your seams will not come apart. I think the mini sewing machines that’s are not recommended may be the actual mini machines that are the size of a small loaf of bread. While this is small for a sewing machine, it’s not actually a mini sewing machine.

The combined strenght of the material is close to denim but the thikness is a litlle more. I am ot sur if i can run the material under the foot?

    I need your help to decide between singer 3505 and brother gs 2700. I have seen the singer 3505 demo and stitch quality is wonderful. I haven't seen brother machines as they are not in local markets right now. Expected in a months time. I like that singer 3505 has blanket stitch that I may use for applique. Brother doesn't have it. Brother has top loading bobbin vs singer having front load bobbin. Brother speed is 860spm while singer is 750 spm. I am a beginner . Please suggest which one of the two should I buy. If you had to choose between front loading vs top loading bobbin, which one will you choose? Thanks!

    • @MamaBanana
      @MamaBanana  Год назад

      I don’t have experience of the Songer machines so had to do a bit of research. From my sewing groups, Singer seems to be the preferred of the two. I liked my Brother, the model I have here was adequate, but within the year I had to upgrade to a bigger & better machine. So I would say the Singer 3505 may be the better choice. Hope this helps 😀

      I’ve sewed baby clothes before. We need just flatten the part we’re working with & about an inch of the fabric ahead, while pushing the rest of the project out of the way so it won’t get caught under the needle. Going slow is key. So just focus on flattening about an inch of the fabric as you go, constantly readjusting the fabric. Awkward, but doable. Good luck 😄

    What sewing project are you working on right now?

    • @bastadtroll8922
      @bastadtroll8922 4 года назад +1

      A waterproof sleeping bag.
      Thin rubbery like pvc coated polyester bottom layer of two sheets which sandiwch a thin layer of felt.Bottom done. The top half of the bag is polyester coated pvc externally and cotton backed polyester internally. The top layer also has a felt internal. Thin, super waterproof unlike every sleepng bag to ever exist, waterproof inside and out, cheap to make, light and easily compact and would make a difference to homeless people in rainy countries.
      The top and bottom layers are stiched toghether at the sides but the top layer has a zip running down slightly aside from the middle allowng the bag to open from the top. This gives it a truly snug feeling. Currently bags are zipped 3 sided around the edges. It spoils the snugness.
      The bottom layer is non breathable so heat isnt lost and you dont feel the cold surface below it as much. The top layer is more comfort feel internally but again non brethable externally. Non brethable material does make it hot inside however that isnt an issue when you are sleeping outsde.7
      To clean the bag all you need is soapy spongee as it is waterproof. If you imagine your life as a homeless personm your seelpi gn bag is a very important possesion and it nwould be great if it could be kept clean at all times.

      Wow 😮. That sounds like some project alright! Would you put out an ISO (In Search Of) on your local Facebook Freecycle group (just search for name of your city & the word Freecycle). Explain that it’s to help the homeless & fingers crossed you will get an offer for a machine & maybe some materials too.

    I can;t get the needle to pick up the bobbin thread. So frustrating

      Is the bobbin tail out to the left like the letter P? Also needs to be pulled down & then up in the metal plate so the little notch catches it. Last thing is to have a tail about 2 inches to help catch it? Fingers crossed one of these helps 😬

      Hi Chloe,
      Thanks for watching. I think I was just nervous. I get that way & speak too fast at presentations & in front of the camera, something that I’ve been working on. Hopefully I will get better over time 😊

    How do u put the teeth down?

    • @MamaBanana
      @MamaBanana  2 месяца назад

      There is a small switch at the back of the machine. Behind the feed dogs/teeth. So bottom back left, it’s a flat switch. You will see it if you look at the back of the machine.
      Hope that helps.

    Personally I think you are not following the manufacturers instructions, I Have this make and model and you are doing this wrong😢.

      Thank you for your feedback. I did make a mistake, I posted this in a pinned comment. Or is there something else that I did wrong? I do appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment.

    This is rubbish. It does not show how to place the bobbing thread properly.
    U said move to the side but you placed it when catching. When and how is missing pure garbage this . Very infuriating
