You can play a defender like me who does healing and attacks with sonics that damages and debuffs enemies in between. Or you could play a controller that locks enemies down while healing and buffing team mates in between. THere's a lot of flexibility.

Purples would be in another video "High End sets". Generally speaking, most people only have somewhere between 10 and 200 million when they hit 50, and do not have nearly enough INF to start buying purples. After playing that first end gear toon for a long time (or after sitting in on a LOT of farms), a character with 400 mil INF to 2 Billion can look at One or more sets there.
Purples are great if that’s how you want to build a toon. But you can mix in other sets as well. You don’t need a full set of purples if the bonus on them aren’t what you want. My dominator only has 11 purps (6 on my fire fire imps) the rest is orange and yellows mixed in. There is a page called Mids Reborn and it allows you to slot your build and check stats to get the best end results.
