Three Days Grace is a Canadian rock band formed in Norwood, Ontario, Canada in 1992, originally under the name Groundswell. After a breakup in late 1995, the band regrouped in 1997 under its current name and with a line-up consisting of guitarist and lead vocalist Adam Gontier, drummer and the backing vocalist Neil Sanderson, and bassist Brad Walst. In 2003, Barry Stock was recruited as the band's lead guitarist. The band is based in Toronto.
After signing to Jive Records, Three Days Grace has released four studio albums, each at three-year intervals: Three Days Grace in 2003, One-X in 2006, Life Starts Now in 2009, and Transit of Venus in 2012. The albums have been certified platinum, double platinum, and gold, respectively, in the United States. The band have a string of number one songs on the Billboard Alternative Songs and Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks charts.
On October 7, 2011, RCA Music Group announced it was disbanding Jive Records along with Arista Records and J Records. With the shutdown, the band (and all other artists previously signed to these three labels) will release their future material (including their upcoming fourth studio album) on the RCA Records brand.[35][36]
On June 5, 2012, at 9:00 A.M. PST, the same day as Venus' visible transit across the sun, the band announced that their fourth studio album will be called Transit of Venus and that it is set to be released October 2, 2012.[37] They created an early promotional video that was released on their website, featuring clips of them in the studio as well as footage of the physical transit of Venus. Due to the rarity of this occurrence, they created the slogan, "some things will never happen again in your lifetime", reflecting both this uncommon occurrence as well as the mood that the lyrics and music will most likely take on. The first single on the album, "Chalk Outline", was released August 14.
Three Days Grace have been recognized for their musical efforts through several awards and nominations. In 2007, the band was ranked by Mediabase as the top artist in airplay across all rock formats in the US and Canada,[21] and Billboard named them Rock Artist of the Year.[21] Three Days Grace has been nominated for four Juno Awards. In 2004, the band was nominated for New Group of the Year.[40] "I Hate Everything About You" was nominated for Best Rock Video and People's Choice: Favourite Canadian Group at Much Music Awards. In 2007, they were nominated for Best Group of the Year, and their album One-X was nominated for Album of the Year. The band's first single from One-X, "Animal I Have Become", was Canada's most played rock song in 2006 and won that year's Mediabase award for the most played rock song on radio. "Never Too Late" was nominated for Best Video and Best Rock Video and "Pain" was nominated for Best International Video by a Canadian and People's Choice: Favorite Canadian Group at Much Music Awards.
In 2010, Life Starts Now was nominated for best Rock Album at the Juno awards but lost to Billy Talent III. In 2010, "Break" was nominated for Best Post Production Video and Best Rock Video of the year at Much Music Awards.On Fuse.tv. "Break" was nominated for "Best Single" and "Life Starts Now" won for "Best Album" at the Casby Awards.

My fav singer since he made 1x, he's got a unique voice that had a nice sounding roughness to it and has away of carrying sorrow in it which makes it even more unique

Well he's a soulful singer some people forget about and think only about his vocal cords? It's the emotion he puts into his art that makes him distinctive not just his vocal range. Not everyone can understand the subtleties but that is what puts him on another level the writing too has more soul than most "pop" songs it requires a discerning ear as well as heart to fully appreciate him.

I agree it'll never be the same, but you have to thank Matt. He is still a great singer (not as good as Adam), but if he hadn't joined Three Days Grace, they wouldn't be a thing.

The Legendary Pocket Hounds he wanted to sellout basically for the money but Adam wanted to make quality music so he left
@M FAYSAL CHOWDHURY (Student) you’re pretty right about what you said, you just missed 1 thing. Neil also loved doing weird computer made sounds into the music and Adam didn’t like that at all so another reason to leave the band from his side.

Adam, this singer here, quit the band. They brought in Matt Walst from My Darkest Days to fill in on their tour. The reason he sounds different here than Studio, is the fact this is live and acoustic, with no mic'ing up his voice, growls, and everything. You are hearing what he can actually do with his voice here. Great band nonetheless, and I hope they find someone who can sing like him.

I know this is a super old comment, but I digress. It had been years since they wrote the song, so his voice changed a little since then and singers often like to put a twist on songs when singing it live. I think at this point he was having tons of health issues as well. It's not like he can't sing as good live, more that he doesn't want to sing exactly the same as on the record

Actually he left for quite a few reasons actually, on the official website the band even stated he left for health reasons mostly.
I believe in an interview he said this wasn't the case.
@@jonnyb.animationstutorials7119 no he even said he had to release health records to silence rumours. Anyway listen to the song I think pain may have been a health concern? He also said he did not even enjoy making music anymore so I think he was depressed and he said being in the band was hurting him spiritually too. Honestly I just heard them randomly one day and thought huh wonder how they are and it's like I stumbled into some cold case band breakup scenario. It's been like 8 years now or something though and no reuniting so it must have been bad.

9 years later and it’s still surreal. I believe what Adam said that he left because of health concerns I just don’t think that was all of it. I think him and Neil had a falling out and that is why Adam left the band.

Relax people it's temporary due to a health problem. And Mat fills in without trying to take over the lead role. They are still great, and Matt is humble, not arrogant. He knows Adam is and always will be the lead man. They needed a fill-in, Matt was a great pick-up for this point in time.
