Lots of interesting insights about Tubi in this video. Anything that surprised you? Anything you can add? Also we didn't follow up in this video but we were surprised by what Adam says about the Netflix Top 10. Can anyone else confirms what he says about that?
I’m always amazed at how many underground music, art & culture documentaries are on tubi as well as so many obscure shows and movies. Absolutely love that aspect.
tubi is the closest thing in the modern era to the old days of browsing through the obscure movies at the video store. that was the magic of the experience of renting movies on the weekend, it wasn't all just big budget blockbusters on the shelves, there was a lot of fun finding something crazy and interesting to watch. plus the servers never crash like a lot of the free ones do, and they actually put the commercials in great spots during the movie, it's never like in the middle of a dialogue scene or something like that.
@filmcourage I love Tubi as a horror fan. It introduced me to alot of independent and foreign horror. I would normally miss like Grave Encounters. The ads are also well done. You don't feel assaulted by ads. Tubi also picks funny moments. When to roll a ad. It's never at a crucial point in a film ❤.
Great interview, I myself is developing my first feature film for Tubi. Hopefully, by the time I get it done Tubi won't fail the indie filmmaker. It may happen because Tubi is owned by Disney through Fox/Viacom. I hope they continue to make millions from indie filmmakers indefinitely on that platform. They already have Disney Plus and Hulu for the bigger products.
Omg, I'm freaked out just watching this! I love how Adam shares his personal experiences, it's so relatable. Can't wait to hear what other scary stories he has to share. Great content as always, Film Courage!
@@filmcourage As far as I know Hulu is also not available in Korea. Amazon Prime is available. And Netflix is the major one here and they have a lot of Western and Asian shows and movies on it. As for Tubi coming to Korea I do not have any info on that.
You need to find a trust worthy rep or agrogates..careful and do your research there are a lot of reps that will swindle your film and never pay a dime while hidding revenue
This ad was brought to you by.. just kidding .. calm down lol. Anyhow, this is just my guess of what is happening: Tubi exec's are probably *cherry picking the content* that best fits their vision of what Tubi content should be (MTV did similar when they started out, but MTV still had to go by 'top 10' music sales standards - Tubi? Well.. *in my opinion* they 'pick' their top 10 - even if it's not top 10. That is *likely* how Tubi is operating *in my opinion* and it's likely less 'grass-roots' than you think). Tubi is likely... 'picking and choosing' what you are seeing through an algorithm. Obviously, Adam Ward had great timing and fit their brand vision, so his content was likely placed the top of the listings/algorithms. If they did NOT employ this method and went by clicks alone, then lower grade 'dirty films' from the various countries would likely dominate their top charts (as seen on the movie-tube style sites - for those who know, you know exactly what i'm talking about). It's a catch 22 for Tubi, promoted content snowballs and stays in the top and ultimately becomes the face of your brand.
@@ufomechanic11 In their beginning networks like Fox, UPN, the CW (UPN's successor) would build their networks with many popular black sitcoms and shows. I just need to WARN people that this video and some of the obvious fake comments regarding Tubi. It doesn't pay you any thing like this video is making about and i know this from personal experience. Absolutely Zero Due Diligence or fact checking from the person who created this video. Here's a challenge, prove me wrong and ask this man in video to offer proof of his earnings on Tubi.
Hi TheKeggie, we appreciate you taking the time to post your thoughts. A few things of note. Adam is not only a filmmaker, he works for a distributor. He mentions in this video that he works for a distributor. As someone who works in distribution he has access to reports (from Tubi and other platforms) that the average filmmaker doesn't have access to. Those are the numbers he was reporting on. No where in this video does he talk about the money that his projects have made on Tubi. He does however mention how much his movie has made on Amazon. We have spoken to distributors directly who have told us directly the kind of money that has been made on Tubi the last few years. And we have been told by numerous filmmakers over the last few years how well they have done on Tubi. We've also had filmmakers tell us they haven't made that much money on Tubi at all (tens of dollars or hundreds of dollars a month). Just being on a platform doesn't guarantee anything. We posted a video on July 15th with another filmmaker who has 30 or 40 movies on Tubi himself. Here are his insights - ruclips.net/video/Pm4OAdiM9v8/видео.html
Yo I’m sick😷and tired of negative ,cynical people like you turning something positive into a negative debate . I see why no one is contacting you for a interview . What he said about the Top 10 surprised me.
Tubi has been the best performing platform for my tech-noir feature Talent Keyhole. Love your channel, by the way!
My film "More To Life" has been on Tubi for 3 years and I think it was the best platform for me as an independent filmmaker.
Thanks for posting Joseph! What other platforms has your movie been featured on?

Even their previews seem hand selected. Someone there loves movies.
I'd never seen Basket Case and Santa Sangre. Both are superb.
Tubi is a better service than Netflix and Disney but I love physical media.
What do you like more about Tubi over the other ones?
@@filmcourage great importing overseas Content like obscure Anime series such as Anpanman and others to American audiences.

We like that the ads are relatively short.
Tubi has some surprises every now and then.
Agreed

Great interview and questions!!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed this one!
I use Tubi more than any other streaming service. I like the obscure variety.
Hope you check out Wally got Wasted and Bad Advice.

I pay for Netflix, but i find myself watching Tubi alot more, their selection of Horror/Sci-Fi Films is Massive!

I need to get something on there before it's to late
Something you've already made or something you are working on now?
@@filmcourage working on and some things I should probably redo and upgrade the quality
very similar to the literary industry, so easy to get lost in the algorithms or stay afloat a few years.
He claims that Netflix doesn't have an independent film category, but they do have an Independent film category.
I wish it was easy for our movie to get on Tubi. I am actually a NOLLYWOOD producer
This was very interesting
Can we get a list of platforms that pay well for independent works?
I live in Korea and we can't get Tubi here yet. We do have Netflix
Interesting bit of information. Are there other AVOD platforms in Korea? Will Tubi be there eventually?

I only watch independent films on Tubi. Spread, Crabs!, Chompy and the Girls, Warbirds, No Shark and of course movies by The Asylum and Full Moon.
Seems like Tubi is not available outside of US. First time I've heard of it and it's not available in my country.
there are commercials on tubi?
for most stuff yes. for tubi originals, no
Sure they pay but the reps that get the platforms take all the money...total abuse..
It sounds like streamers are using "independent" like networks used "Black." 😐
…can you explain further?
