honestly steven in future seems to have control issues as he wants everyone to change and grow according to his own standards.I think the whole idea behind the new show is that instead of him teaching the gems it will be the inverse as we have seen the gems reach a level of maturity and become their best selves while steven is still uncomfortable
So the plot of Steven Universe would be: A boy, half rock, teams up with more rocks to defeat other rocks who tried to kill them. Rock boy struggles but with the help of his other rock friends, he became powerful. Powerful enough to become a giant rock monster and eventually leave his rock friends.

I think we can relate to Steven with this one. Sometimes, we fear change, and we do whatever it takes to make sure everything we know stays the way it was.
It's horrible to see how slowly throughout the series, his joyful spirit has only be broken with every pink revelation. It makes you think how far till the line is drawn in the sand? Till he reaches the point of no return?

I understand his resion using the resonator on spinel! He knows she suffered through so much and wants to make everything better and not suffer through what happened or have the memories she had of being alone and cruppted through her mind so it's understandable for it but it's still has problems for steven since he can't get his powers
When he said "I fixed Spinel" I got angry,she was perfect even before,she wasn't mad at him anymore and yet he "changed her for the better" when there was nothing wrong about her.
