Well it's pretty clear that in both Spinel is the bad guy and Pink is the hero. It's so confusing how everybody is forgiven for all the awful things they done yet the same isn't said for Pink. Kind of weird how Steven never admitted to be wrong that Spinel is the bad guy not Pink.
This should've been the ending. On the original, Steven kinda didn't want anything to do with her. Well, that's kinda understandable since she nearly killed him. But the thought of Pink Diamond actually being there to at least see what she had done is a well concept instead of just letting Steven deal with literally everything.
If this happened Steven would have a much more different approach on his meltdown because before he thought that his mom was a bad person for dumping all her responsibilities onto him, which already got him PTSD in the first place, but since his mom appeared, a gem that Steven never got to see, his own mother comfort and love him, Steven’s stress would have been better, and he might not have even turned pink, he might have some different type of meltdown, one where he doesn’t turn into a huge pinkzilla (heh) and might have let his feelings out even a lot quicker, most of his PTSD was because of pink, so now that she appeared, Steven might think different of her, seeing she’s a nice gem, and didn’t just dump all her stuff on him.
I can't help to think how many of Steven's traumas could've been solved if he actually got to talk to Pink/Rose. Like for 1 the whole quartz thing wouldn't have happened. And then he'd have less of a problem blaming himself for the anger powers as he could have someone to explain what they were and how to deal with them. That obviously wouldn't erase the all trauma, but I think it would remove some of the issues he deals with.
Pink was a terrible person - and did her best to be a good person after all. There's a video that puts all the scenes of Rose/Pink in order of Pink's existence, and it really makes it a lot easier to understand everything

This is how I wanted Rose to be redeemed. Steven was her character ark in reverse (in future). Going from this accidentally dangerous being to being the understanding creature she made later. That speech she says to Greg, talking about how gems can’t change but humans can... and the beauty to it... all the lyrics in love like you, I can’t just believe she was fully an awful gem, especially when white caused most of this

I think if steven truly gets corrupted in the upcoming steven universe future episodes exploring the possibility that steven can talk to pink would be great from personal experience I know if you don't know the answer to your problem the gentle push and advice of a mother can make you see things in a different perspective and that's what I think steven needs a true heart to heart with his mom
