I love stories like this, they present really interesting questions and ethically questionable solutions that have far-reaching and really difficult consequences.
One could definitely argue, knowing only what Steven and the gems know now, that this? rejuvenating Spinel and letting her stay like that is the safest option for the Earth, it's a catch-all solution and prevents her from recanting her decision and reactivating the injector, and that becoming part of their family is the best thing for her...
But on the other hand, she wasn't given a choice, Steven manipulated her emotions and used her and exerted his control over her, to change her, took away her free will and sense of self
Essentially, the old Spinel might as well be dead, shattered.
Eliminating individuality, reducing a gem to a husk of their former selves to suit the needs of someone else... who does that sound like?
In doing this to Spinel, Steven has become more alike with White Diamond's previous self than he probably realizes...

I found where this comic is posted and it seems to have stopped around 2 years ago based on comment section's time stamps, which is sad because while the action he takes at the beginning isnt in his character its still a very interesting approach. And I am sure the main reason for his lack of power gain is partly due to his re resetting of Spinel.
I find it funny he never continued the “Steven universe gone wrong AU”

Bruh so nobody is gunna talk about how steven rejuvenated Spinel again haven't they learned to not do that... I swear Spinel will regain her memories and this time Steven might die.....
it's not just that but it's wrong in general, he did it at first because he thought that she was too dangerous that way, that's understandable but it's always ignoring all the things she's been through and erasing her memories without consent, taking away everything she became aka CHANGE the message he reflected on in the SU movie. If this were to happen it would show steven doesn't believe people can be redeemed or change I don't know how to explain it but as happy as spinel is right now they locked away a part of her that has matured this is just wrong
