I enjoy your videos and admire your patience. That is a lot of work. Wow.
thanks! and yes, it's starting to dawn on me how much work this project is taking... lol. Too late to turn back now.
They have a tool to release pins from the plug.
Don't tell him that now, wait until he turns everything on and one little thing doesn't work right.
yeah...but what fun is that?! lol
sounds like you've been down this road before ;)
WOO! Autopilot installed and lookin nice!
thanks!
8:54 - 'Ow!' lol. Love your work, Jimmy! :D
Now this is starting to look fun. Nothing like getting your hand dirty and scrapped. You're really starting to get me interested in doing my own project; my wife does not approve. Keep the videos coming!
go for it!
Thank you for the video Jimmy.
All those wires give me the willies !
Never announce that you are calling Tim. He took off running without his cellphone!
hahahaha
Awesome
I would very much like detail of the difference between a Hoop-Dee and a Beater! Thanks
Don’t pull those wires there are extractor tools that you can use. Just a suggestion
That is much better than the way I did it, impatience kicks in...
@@therealjimmysworld I have several of those extract tools...pulling pins like that made me feel really dirty!!! Oh man the memories crawling around in planes running wires...good times.
The tongue of concentration. 4:34
I think Jimmy you will want to pull that g430 out for the avidyne when you recoupe some extra cash.....Its plug and play with the g430 and is soooooo much better with the iPad. And yes the pin extractor tool dude!
That would be a good upgrade!
G,day Jimmy from Sydney, Australia.
Thank you for the detailed look at the new NAV I think (auto pilot)?
* when replacing floors in the plane, consider carbon fibre sheets.
* altitude and airspeed gauges: have you reliable evidence of their precision. When was the last time the plane was flown?
The restoration and upgrade is going well.
* are you installing inspection plates in the wings?
Quality is the best policy!
🌏🇭🇲
I'll have to check on that carbon fiber sheeting, had the pitot and altimeter check about 30 days ago.
using current inspection plates on the wings.
Enjoying your video journey a lot ! By the way what is that nice looking insulation on the sides ?
the aluminum stuff on the interior? I have no idea, that was done when I got the plane.
That’s a great way to root a connector for the next poor installer.
for real!
Release tool...but I see you already know it.
How about a pic of you in the tail working on that servo? It looks like an impossible fit.
yeah, that tail section sucks...
Use extraction and insertion tools to extract and insert terminated wires from connectors. Just saying.
Yeah, I know that now. Part of learning...
4:34 tongue squeezing : + 50% focus
Have another Mountain Dew before pulling the tank off.
It'll be one of those gansta cans!
Hey Jimmy, your new autopilot....is that 3 axis?
2 axis
how much was the propilot?
Since my brother told me that you remind him of me but wayy more discretionary income...and you need help on the 310 project.. My profession cannot allow a long one week excursion south in the spring.. maybe the next one...some help from an ag engineer may be useful.
Wait,wait,wait!
I thought you were trying to restore the plane, NOT put your chiropractor’s kid through college!
it's a win win for everyone...
As long there is no tangled cord in brain, everything looks good....
That's right!
So give us a little backstory, Are you working full time on the PA32 or just afterwork? How are you getting so much time to work on it? I’m rebuilding an old Stinson but I only get a few hours a week due to work and family
I sold my last company 2 years ago and have been "temporarily" retired since. This would take years if I had a full time job/business. I wouldn't have done it if that were the case.
True dat. I've had a whole suite of new avionics in my spare room waiting to go in the aeroplane for about 15 years now. In fact, one bit has now become obsolete and I've bought a new one. That's in my spare room too.
You need to get a 3D printer to print the filler plate.
Ouch, grunt, ...groan...three reasons why I retired after 42 years of that stuff.
yep, makes me want to retire after 42 minutes...
@@therealjimmysworld Some of us are slow learners.
Jimmy do you work on planes for a living?
Lord no, can't you tell! hahahaha. I buy and sell companies and coach CEO's to scale businesses. I do have a background with mechanics and electronics though... I'm finally using that college!! lol
Airplanes look so sad when they are opened up like that. Like a $75k pile of parts.
That's pretty much all it is.... A flying washing machine
So your doing the 830 for your engine instruments? Is that what you got in the $500 box?
no, I bought the 830 new.
@@therealjimmysworld How can I contact you directly?
email is best: jiminize1@yahoo.com
How does one go about testing the auto pilot installation?
A ground test first to ensure that the servo's are working correctly - then, a test flight with the aircraft flown in accordance with a list of maneuvers that are given by the manufacturer.
What he said ^^^^^
exactly
@@martyhench2564 thank you sir.....appreciate the feedback.
This wiring is in a much worse condition than my 1998 VW POLO :D
I would take off in the plane and jump out if I even thought of doing this
James, I am not sure what I am doing here with all these informed expert aviation viewers. I thought this was a sitcom, and you were a spin-off of Beavis and Butthead all rolled into one very funny guy. But now you are starting to sound serious. Do you mind if I go back to the first video and start all over again? Just to see what I have missed about the serious stuff... 😑
It's like Ace Ventura, Mr. Bean, Duck Dynasty and MacGyver all rolled into one.
@@therealjimmysworld - Ahh, now I get it - you're being groomed for a Hollywood career!! So, on April 1st (Your day!) you will reveal this as a gyro plane conversion... Fantastic! 😆
hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!! love it!!!!
Omg dude get the correct pin removal tool wtf you just broke the connector
yeah yeah yeah, join the peanut gallery
An electricians fish might not cure all your wiring ills, but might help quite a few.
sorry guys, i had to be the 421st like lol
The word cheap and auto pilot should not be used in the same sentence.
Would love to come and help you if you ever want the help. I have a Pa-32-300 and man do I love her! I’m not an A&p but have done slot of work under the supervision of one. I have mechanical skills. Hit me up sometime , I can fly down to you and spend a weekend or something. Jesus@vetair.org
Thanks for the offer! careful... you'll get put to work talking like that... lol
