so you're the guy that turns ghosting on in your races, honestly same, the art of racing shows in high pressure and can show your skills or show lack thereof. It's a mechanic used in racing so I don't really mind that, twas just a mistake you made.
Guy in second place in the red MR2 has some skills! You too my man, I could feel your frustration through the screen every time that blue MR2 over braked a little but still didn't leave you any room to get by. God that's an awful feeling on a narrow track, being pushed farther and father back by a slower driver/car who has just a narrow enough track to keep holding you off. Someday I'll be able to handle my MR2 like you chaps, good show!

Oh interesting, may I ask how much did you sell it for exactly? Was yours a sw20 na or turbo? Excuse my curiosity, but I find them to be awfully interesting. I wish to someday trade my sentra to something that can actually accelerate.
this is some intense racing. i thought miata spec racing was competitive. but trying to pass that baby blue in front of you is a challenge cause u both have turbos and its sooo damn narrow. lots of ass bumping going on here.
There just isn't a class for Turbo's in that Championship. However I now race a mk2 turbo in both the Nippon Challenge and in the Roadsports series with a reasonable amount of success against other makes and marks.
I love the stock turbos and 3sgte swaps, but. sadly when I was going to buy one couldnt find a single mechanic in nywho wanted to work on one do a thermostat, or hose from hell. head gasket one forum said his mechanic did the head gasket so wrong with outdated gasket he later had antifreese and water in pistons!
Damn Caldwell is a difficult track. I knew the second I saw MR2 crash in the title that it was going to be some of that sweet sweet snap oversteer we know and love lol
Damn that Blue SW20 was blocking hard, bad racing etiquette, two seperate times he swerved right into his racing line while trying to pass or line up on to pass after the corner. I was getting frustrated just watching, driver must have been heated.
Awesome Racing! One of the most important things in racing is keeping your cool and being patient. Studying your opponent, waiting and keeping the pressure on! Often times just staying behind and not fighting for pos. will help get back to the front, and when they start to fall back with you behind them, they start to panic and that's when you strike!! such Awesome racing!!
@GovernmentGuy the car in the vid, the one I had at the time was exactly that, a Rev 4 N/A. the only difference is that it was striped out and had a roll cage and safety gear fitted. If you get the opportunity you should give circuit racing a go, it's a great adrenaline rush!
I am still racing. I went on to develop and race a highly modified mk2 turbo and then a 3.5ltr V6 powered Roadster in both the years since then. I have however just sold both those cars and this season went back to racing in the MR2 Championship.
Great racing! I was gritting my teeth and inhaling in places! Incredible to see ordinary road cars side by side on that circuit. It feels tight when you have 2 bikes side by side around there, let alone 2 full size road cars!
that was such close racing i forgot this was a crash vid. i lived that with you, surprised. unlucky i thought you were going to save your mr2 from damage when you J turned left hand down. hindsight is 2020 i guess no turn at all after straightening may have done it.

Great driving out there, this is about how good i race on good-old Gran Turismo 5, braking lines and acceleration points are perfect! Around the end there i could see what you saw, felt like the rear got stuck on the curb and slid out from the lost traction.
I really dig the way you placed the camera so that it has the forward view and a close enough view of the mirror to get both angles at the same time! Nice camera work, and even more exciting driving 👌
It taught me a lesson, not to be too eager to get past, better to pick the right place and time. In reality I was unlikely to ever get past at the bottom of the mountain.

Tons of slamming doors! I'm surprised race marshals weren't calling everyone out for changing their lines constantly. Not surprised there was a crash eventually.

My suggestion would be to contact the series organiser Patrick Mortell at Rogue Motorsport. He will be able to give you plenty of advice and guidance on getting involved in the MR2 Championship.
Awesome drive. You have a great (albeit tight) circuit there at Cadwell. That's what we need here in NZ. The guy in the blue car spoils your lines and speed. It is indeed hard to be patient in such circumstances.
You were racing really well, it's a pity you lost a couple of positions early on. Your lines were very solid and Steve Lumley in front did quite the block on the inside at 2:16 ;( It can be frustrating when you know you're faster and stuck behind, so you push and push and then that happens - I guess that's racing - you were right up there with the front of the pack though, I noticed when you span out. MR2s are tricky beasts to recover once they go ;( Good racing thoughand great quality vid!
That blue MR2 seemed a slightly faster machine, but a worse driver. You were clearly faster, and (sportingly) left him space in the corners. The blue MR2 squeezed you in the corners and kept backing you up, which inevitably caused you to swerve to avoid him / crash.
As a track virgin, can someone explain exactly what went wrong? Seems as though after swerving yo overtake the blue mid-corner he suddenly turns quite sharp left under acceleration which is why the car oversteered.. is that right?
I recently got a 1993 mr2 turbo. Because of the mid engine rwd layout of the car I've heard that they can have some oversteer issues. Is that what happened here? Mine has the limited slip differential also.
The regulations of the series require a standard diff, and you are right an LSD might have helped me. The damage ended my race, however the car was repaired and out racing again at the next meeting :)
Not in any way saying i would have done better, but at 3:10 the error is the wheel counters left, while turning right would have helped keep the trajectory more turning around the corner backwards and off the grass, possibly avoiding the wall? Easy to say when ur not going backwards at over 100kmh... what a bummer.
That is one great video. Nice angle, nice pic quality, nice sound quality. You were driving very good, apart from that missed gear, and even when you spun, you did great trying to hold the car. How severe was the damage?

Yes the MR2 Championship in the UK is very competitive and close, no turbos however only stock NA engines allowed.

In the UK Rogue are the MR2 experts, they have built and maintained all my racing MR2's. They are the best there is IMO.

Its claimed to be the UKs Nurbergring. I was there last year and it was basically scary for the first half of the day, but an utterly beatiful track

There is still a very healthy MR2 Championship running. It is managed by Rogue Motorsport who are able to source any spares necessary.

Did this vehicle have the 91-92 Subframe? I am blown away at this racing.. I wouldn't last 2 seconds there. LoL! Awesome!
