ashlands counter-fortress: valheim

this is how i am approaching fortresses so far. basically, build your own mini base tight against the door side of the fortress and use that to launch an attack. grausten stone is strong and ubiquitous. watch out for lava, as it will burn even grausten if too close.
i havent tried just making stairs up the side of a fortress and jumping over the wall, but that could work. i have also seen a fortress with one of those giant rocks spawned into the wall, such that you could walk up the rock and go over the fortress wall. so, there are probably lots of ways in.
is demolisher wallbanging cheesy? sure, but so is infinite skeleton spawns. fight cheese with cheese.

i did something like this for my first fortress attempt, too. I built an outpost on top of a putrid hole entrance and raised dirt walls to form a trench path straight to the main gate for the battering ram. For the 2nd fortress it was near the first, and i was able to catapult directly into it. However, the easiest method i've found is to just build a stonecutter and dismantle the spiked fortifications and climb the wall from there with raised ground or stairs. And no, as a mace main myself, demolisher wallbanging is my go to strat when i have to engage more than 5 enemies at once, unless i have bonemass up.

yeah, i have only seen one fortress model. the only variation is the surrounding area, like lava, or rocks.
