Great video Andy, A systemic method will seem long and drawn out but it will get you to the issue in need. We have seen that you are have plenty of experience from your other videos so listening to the fuel pump is a natural to you. You brought us along to diagnose the problem which requires patience and reasoning. Thank you for your efforts and stay well.
@7:45 thanks for keeping in the shot of you struggling to get out the relay. It makes me feel better about when I encounter difficulties like that after watching a video where the presenter never has problems getting parts removed/replaced.
Hello, nice vid. I have a daihatsu sirion 2 with K3-VE engine and it stopped running all of a sudden. It cranks, but no start. I checked all the fuses/relays, they seem good. I checked the crankshaftsensor and it's giving me close to 2000 ohms. So that seems ok. I tested the harness with ignition switched on, no voltage. Any idea what that could be? I still have to check to camshaftsensor though. Regards
I have no Dtc's, car cranks and trys to start and this only happens in temps below 40. Ive replaced everything expect ecm and havent fixed a exhaust leak in between where the flex pipe and mainfold meet. Ive replaced, tps, cleaned throttle body which is ran manually, map, pcv, coolant flush, battery, starter, egr solenoid, ica, all intake gaskets/cleaned intake, main relay, fuel pump, injector orings after cleaning the injectors, ignition switch, no vacuum leaks as i replaced almost all hoses and clamps, installed a block heater, ect reading good, spark is good as i have installed ngk plugs, wires, cap and rotor, distributor o ring, and ignition coil. Valve cover gaskets and plug gaskets, fuel is at factory specs 42, compression all within 10%. Timing on point. Im sure theres something else ive done that i forgot to mention but this is on a 1998 honda prelude 5spd, if theres any info someone can provide me with from here that would be awesome!
I just bought a used 2008 nissan xterra, 2 wheel drive. Ive only had it a week, and immediatelly it sometimes difficult starting it makes sounds trying to start but takes 5 - 10 seconds sometimes to finally fully turn on and engine run. But usually if its been running and only recentlly turned off , if i start it soon after it seems to usually start right up. I may be misremembering, but it seems to have more difficulty starting fully if its been turned off for a few hours or overnight. Guy who sold it to me said nothing about it, but i dont trust him at this point, as no way it literally just started happening the day i bought it from him. I had battery tested and its good, only a year and a half old. And i noticed a slight fuel smell today inside the xterra while driving it. Unfortunately i was told by oreillys auto parts when i asked about getting a new fuel filter that this model xterra doesnt have just a simple fuel filter that is easy to access and remove and replace alone, as its instead supposely inside the friggin fuel tank and has to remove the friggin fuel tank and replace whole fuel assembly and buy and whole new fuel assembly to replace fuel filter. Which is nearly $400 for just the part! What batshoot craxy dumb design instead of jjust having fuel filter outside fuel tank easy to access and replace like some vehicles.. And this xterra has a built in alarm system connected to a chip in the key, apparently. When locking and leaving vehicle apparently after getting a certain distance from vehicle thealarm automatically arms. Suddenly today when i drove to auto store and turned engine off and removed key, immediatley as i opened door to exit the vehicle the alarm suddenly went on making alarm noises for a minute. Had no idea how to turn it off or why it suddenly started alarming as i was still in vehicle with the key in my hand. It at least stopped alarming sound after a minute. Just concerned as it shouldnt do that and have no idea why it did or if its going to again and how to stop it.
Of course the scan tool would help right? how much is that one you are using and where can we get one? Got a 2000 Tacoma doing same, can find a mechanic to come and diagnostic so I am taking on it myself!
I bought a Foxwell scan tool and so my check engine light is on it says that it's not on and no codes are found as a Ford 2007 Taurus any idea why ? I'm not really mechanically inclined girl with no one to help me so please help the reason why I purchased scan tool because I put some gas that was iffy in it to make it to the store and I drove about a mile and my car shut off and will not crank back up even with $20 with the gas in it and my fuel pump kicks in and my battery is brand new thanks for your video
Good evening sir! Am Mr katema chrispine from lundazi Zambia 🇿🇲 eastern region, I have a Toyota duet car which has a problem of not starting after replacing the gascate with the proper timing.what can be the problem
A scan tool like that is gonna be expensive! Go to your local parts store they have smaller ones that are more rudimentary but if ya want one they'll do.
Buy a BlueDriver! I love mine it was only 100$ and had it for years. I’d prefer it over our snap on Apollo and shops Zeus because of how easy it is to use.
Hi, i need help with my car problem, the problem is my car crank but won't start, i checked injector signal, there's no signal, i checked ignition coil, there's also no signal, then i checked all fuse and relay, there's no fault. After that i checked all the wiring on engine, there's no problem with the wire harness, lastly i checked the ecm/ecu, i bring it to ecu repair shop they checked no faulty and i pay charge for checking usd60, after that, i try to start again, its still won't start, then i bring the ecm/ecu again to the bmw agent for checking with charge usd100, they also said there's no faulty with the ecu/ecm. I checked the fuel pump its working, i checked the pressure of fuelpump its working perfect. I checked the immobiliser, also no problem, Im still wondering with the problem and why my ignition coil and injector no power and no signal. Fault code on obd is P0341, P101b and P1061 , i tried clear, after a few minutes its appear again, anyone know what the problem? My car BMW 320i E90 2006, engine N46
I fed up with car disappointing moments and car fixing technician mislead, so i decide to learn car mechanics by my self to know how to deal with my car.
What I get from this video is what the typical certified mechanic goes through every day. Also if you pay attention he noted early on that he couldn’t hear the fuel pump kicking it. He had crank. Probably has spark. No fuel. If you know a little about relays and where they are in your car you could carry a spare relay and possibly get yourself out of a jam.
definitely the fuel rail isnt getting fuel, if the pump cant be heard, instead of messing with the relays you can test the relay with a tester and verify if the relay is faulty.
Very rare to see a relay fail as they are constructed not to. Same with fuses. At our shop, people often thinks it's a fuse, but it NEVER is. Something caused the fuse to pop, or the customer thinks they know what they are doing and starts switching them around.
👉👉👉Help please: i own 2008 bmw x3 e83 2.0D 4x4 automatic with 145000 km (110000 miles) on the counter.A couple months back i started having issues with the rough idle. After i would start the engine for the first 20-40 seconds rev's would go up and down with a bit of a white smoke from the exhaust. I cleaned the injectors/new kit, new glow plugs with the new module....car is fully serviced, so no issues there. Still when cold starting the engine i have rough idle for the 10-15 seconds (no smoke) and as well while driving form low speeds and when the revs come to around 1000-1100 rpm's looses power/hiccup...and when i pass those revs all is fine. I checked old maf sensor and replaced with the new one just for the test, same happened...so i put back the old one. Is it maybe the fuel pump or something else...PLEASE advice!!! The previous owner: changed egr, dpf, cleaned turbo, intake manifold . I did a good service as well. Its not neglected car for sure. Best Jure
They do it like this is in case is not the relay and you how a broken circuit because is just charging the relay doesn’t work you don’t know what to do next
Cars are built to keep people poor, but with a little knowledge you can save thousands of dollars by not using a mechanic, not downing mechanics or anything it is just hard to live in this money world if you don't have the thing this world worships
I have BlueDriver scanner $100 small and works off your smart phone or you can get a cheap one for $35-40 bucks just leave it in the car. He actually gave you a hint when he didn’t hear the fuel pump. Just swap relays and see if that works. Other than that call a tow truck 😎

On today's modern cars its usually a fuel pump , a tipm, or crank or cam sensor, or broken timing parts!!!
Thanks for showing how to check the fuel pump relay!
I feel like I'm in trade school again 💯👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

What's the significance of whether or not that car you were working on having a remote start or not?
Great video, its good to see people doing circuit system testing.

Autel or xtool will give you a similar machine
Good job
If you don’t hear the fuel pump engage then could it be the fuel pump relay ?
Mine cranks but the way I’m able to turn it back is by jumping starting the car battery to turn the car on. What can be my issue anyone please ?
Really this channel is good.
Watch your videos all the time you guys are great next video can you do a timing belt in a 1.6 litter engine Ford thanks for everything you guys do
Work on Dodge Magnum or 300

Why you put ac relay to fuel pump relay instead

I think head gasket leak?
you can check the oil if its froppy its probably head gasket leak, tho if its not froppy that doesnt confirm that it doesnt have a head gasket leak
if the engine is overheating too that means the coolant is not circulating properly and that indicates a head gasket leak
I was like damn where are the daily videos!!! Lol
So much overlooking, i would've tried swapping the relays first

What should I do now? Yes, because the average person stuck in a parking lot has a scan tool they can use like this. What a useless video.
🤷♂️ Carry a scan tool or call a tow truck, what's your complaint again?
They sell cheap OBD 2 scan tools at Walmart for like $20. Did you try the relay? Update?

Gotta measure fuel pressure and volume if you have it.
Was I the only one screaming “Fuse!”
Isn’t that scan tool just a android tablet ?
