- Lyrics:
So suddenly, so strange
Life wakes you up, things change
I've done my best, I've served my call
I thought I had it all
So suddenly, so strong
My prejudice was gone
You needed me, I found my place
I'm different now these days
Now the greatest reward
Is the light in your eyes
The sound of your voice
And the touch of your hand
You made me who I am
You trusted me to grow
I gave my heart to show
There's nothin' else I cherish more
I stand by you for sure
Now the greatest reward
Is the love that I can give
I'm here for you now
For as long as I live
You made me who I am
So suddenly, it's clear to me
Things change
Our future lies in here and now
We made it through somehow
Now the greatest reward
Is the love that I can give
I'm here for you now
For as long as I live
You made me who I am
You made me who I am
"The Greatest Reward" is one of my Céline Dion songs favorites. I always felt a true music video was missing for this both soft and powerful ballad. So I decided to make my own music video as a special tribute to René and Céline.
Especially since the unfortunate death of René, this song took a completely new meaning for me. When I listened to the lyrics carrefully, it struck me how they incredibly fit to Céline and René's love : the greatest reward René left to Céline was his love. He had faith in what she would become ("You trusted me to grow"), she changed into the confident artist we know nowadays ("I'm different now these days"). Now that he's gone ("Things change"), Céline is here to make people remember René ("I'm here for you now"). René is part of what Céline is today ("You made me who I am").
Also, when Apple Music released their exclusive documentary "Behind Celine Dion's courage" (link below), I thought the material was really great but I was not convinced by the somewhat scary and yellowish atmosphere they gave to the short film. This is how I came up with the idea to make my own music video using this wonderful footage from Apple Music on the song "The Greatest Reward".
I know it does not seem so, but it was a huge work. It was not just putting random clips together on a song. I edited the lights, to make the house less gloomy, to turn Céline's chick dress into a chic gown and to give a more modern general atmosphere to the video. I selected, accelerated, deccelerated, synchronised the clips on the song. And so on. Art can be technical sometimes!
I also reordered the clips to make a story that would match the video with the song. Remember the music video for "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" ? Well, yes, it's another music video of Céline in a big house with a ghost, though this time she doesn't see him, she only looks into his direction when she feels him. And the camera (you) is actually the ghost who follows Céline!
Here's the script: a woman used to live in a big mansion with her husband until he passed away. After his death, she comes back to the house for the first time alone. As she wanders through the different rooms, she reminisces the memories of her husband. At the end, she dons her coat and she leaves the house as the strong and independant woman she became, thanks to him, ready for her new life but without ever forgetting him. See how similar this story is with Céline Dion's life?
I hope you enjoyed my work. Feel free to comment and share, but when you share, please respect the work by mentioning the source where you got this video. I don't like to watermark the material because I always felt it was a weird way to claim ownership on things that don't really belong to you, so please be as respectful as I am.
Thanks for watching!

Looks like the same video used for "heart of glass" in the courage album, the detail is that someone edited the color of her dress from yellow to white
The video for "Heart of Glass" is fanmade like this one. And I am the one who made this video and edited the color of the dress to white, among other things 😉 Everything is explained in the description of the video. 🙂
@@celinedionweb Wow that's amazing, how many albums of Celine Dion do you listen to
@@karleyklein-SupportCelineDion 🤣 All of them. But I listen to many other artists too. 😉
@@celinedionweb how many concerts have you seen with Celine Dion, I haven't been to one of her concerts yet
@@karleyklein-SupportCelineDion aha not many, less than 10. Celine Dion’s concerts are expensive and crowded. Honestly, I prefer watching her on TV 😅 it's free, the sound is better and you can see the concert from many angles. Hence this channel. 😀
Is this an official release mtv of this song?
Nope, I made it. Everything is explained in the description. 😉
@@celinedionweb when exactly? Can I know??, I am an old fan since 1996
Nice take.
Perhaps the original version may be worth a look...
