The three videos on installing the convertible top are fabulous! The detail shown and explained are second to none. I commend you for your diligence in not only performing the work, but also filming at the same time. I’ve learned and subsequently applied so much of what you teach in your videos,I can’t thank you enough. Keep up the great work, you are an inspiration to those of us who are do-it-yourselfers in our own garages. Thanks again, Bob Froese.
Thanks buddy, I'm glad the videos helpd. DIY in rhe shop is the way I work. Check out the Playlist tab, I organized them by components/ sections. 9 videos for the convertible top in all. Enjoy your build. ruclips.net/p/PLztQ_TJfa0HUwRnw7xLbXobO4S_6wwG_C&si=6p7Sbpxa_NWabW22
When installing a new top, I found that the old one was likely a replacement 20 years ago because it did not have the wires. Are they absolutely necessary?
@@ELDESTBuilds Copy that. Will proceed with the new top (need to complete this weekend) and install afterward. Again, many thanks from Vancouver Island. Best regards.
The top this car is the original. I just redid it a little. If I was going to buy another I would get this, www.vickauto.com/FIAT-PARTS/FIAT-124/2000-and-131/Brava-Parts/Convertible-Tops/Vinyl-Top-Tan-Fiat-2000-79-85-SKU-50-3046-T

The wire helps pull it tight along the side windows. For a fair weather car, you could probably skip it

Car looks good. I’m looking for a top for my ‘79, where’d you get parts?

@@ELDESTBuilds that’s exactly the same one I was looking at. There’s some cheaper...and there’s always a reason why. Appreciate the info.
It's the closest to the original I found. The only other one I considered is a full canvas, from, convertibletopguys.com
