This is a full walk around tour and review of the brand new ALL-INCLUSIVE ADULTS ONLY RIU Palace Kukulkan resort located in Cancun Mexico. The resort opened in late November 2022 and I visited the first week of December 2022.
What a relaxing place to spend time! So much to experience
It was wonderful! I wish we could have stayed longer!
I live on the coast of New Hampshire and take for granted how beautiful the ocean is. My wife takes pictures of the sunrise almost daily, and I hope you and Tyler had a chance to watch a sunrise or sunset over the water while on vacation. I also must mention that you did a great job starring in Hoovie's video.
It is so beautiful in Mexico....I am always in awe 🙂 Hoovies video was so much fun! Thank you so much for watching 😃
Great job!
What a beautiful resort! Thanks for sharing your trip and reviews, and really nice filming, too! I would love to go there next year. New subscriber! 😊
Thank you so much for watching! 😃
opened on a Friday, I was there the following Tuesday....AWESOME...upgraded to Elite Club ocean front.....excellent liquor choices, snacks, very nice room. been to many RIU in Cancun, highly recommend this one, especially if you like to swim in the ocean.....LOTS of waves!....great food, excellent customer service, house keeping 1st class.....highly recommend!
I'm glad you had a great experience too! I've also been to other RIUs in Cancun and this is the best! I hope to visit again in the summer. Thank you so much for watching 😀
I have my reservation for Jr. Suite in this hotel, just wondering, it really worth upgrade to Elite Clube?
@@eliasescobedo3852 Ive only stayed at the elite club.....definitely upgraded alcohol in the room, the rooms ARE at the end of the building so its quiet and your view IS of the pools and ocean.....they have SOME snacks in the room but nothing major or plentiful......expedited line at check in/out....and it seemed like I may have gotten preferential treatment when diniing at buffet (probably by the wristband)....Every RIU I have stayed at has been clean, safe, excellent customer service....this one is no different....you cant go wrong with either selection....live a little!! UPGRADE !
Thank you, very nice rooms
Thank you so much for watching 🙂
I know it’s new but for a Rui this very nice and great video
Yes, it is really nice! Thank you so much for watching 😃
Super helpful
Thanks so much for watching! 😃
Thanks!
Hi, I really loved your review! In 2015, I stayed at Royalton Riviera Cancun, weeks after opening, I am a big sea shell collector and they planted shells to help with the sea habitat life. Which I had not known at the time until the life guard said you cannot touch anything for the next two years on the beach. Which I understand but was unfortunate since I love collecting memorabilia items.I am staying here mid-May and was wondering if they mentioned anything about not being able to take any seashells since the resort just opened?
No, there are no restrictions about taking shells from the beach at the Riu Kukulkan. There was a protected area at a public beach near there that we found. It was actually pretty cool to see! Thanks so much for watching and I hope you enjoy your stay!! 🙂
Glad you didn’t have to hang out with Tyler in the parking garage! Looks like a nice resort!
Haha he left me at the beach to go car spotting which was fine by me 😁
Very good video, greetings from Argentina🙋♂
Thank you so much for watching! I would love to visit Argentina someday 😃
@@kstorrer It's good to think about visiting us, before looking for places to visit within Argentina and choosing which ones, there are several very nice ones and today at a VERY GOOD PRICE for foreigners since they can make a lot of difference with the dollar, regards🙋♂
I just got back from there great place, the only thing I noticed is the main entrance light is a vajhaaja
I was there the 2nd day it was open very pretty resort
That's awesome! I was there the first week of December 😀 Thanks for watching!
I must of just miss u I left on Dec 3
@@jaymeamtraktravel2703 I arrived on the 3rd!
Looks nice! How far from the airport and was transportation easy to get?
It took about 30 minutes to get from the airport to the resort. I booked accomodations at the Riu website and they provide free transportation both ways which is great. There are tons of taxis at the airport though so it would be easy to get to the resort by taxi but probably pricey. Uber is very limited in Cancun and I don't think they can pick you up from the airport but they can drop you off there.
@kstorrer thanks! that helps me out so much!
Great video
Great review. Is this resort all inclusive?
Yes it is all inclusive and adults only. They also provide free transportation to and from the airport. You can also visit the other Riu resorts in Cancun (there are 8 total) for free but you will have to find your own transportation. Thank you so much for watching!
Vacationing there in may, do the restaurants have dress codes?
I don't believe they do. We weren't informed of a dress code. My husband wore casual shorts and a short sleeve collared shirt at the restaurants. You can wear beachwear with cover ups at the buffet. I hope you enjoy your stay! I can't wait to go back! Thanks so much for watching 🙂
Thinking about staying here at the end of April for 6 nights. All together with flight a transportation to resort it’ll be 2,750 dollars. For that price, would y’all say that’s a good deal? Or is there a better resort to stay at for the same price?
I think it's great for what I paid. I loved that it was brand new. I've stayed at older resorts and they do feel older! You should get free transportation both ways to the airport if you book direct at Riu.com. I booked at Riu.com and used Google Flights and I got a good deal. I plan on returning to Cancun this summer but I want to stay somewhere on Isla Mujeres. Not that I wouldn't return to Riu Kukulkan, but I just like seeing different areas. Best of luck with your travels and thanks so much for watching 🙂
@@kstorrer Thank you for the response! I think I’ve made my mind and will stay here. I like new and modern and have never stayed in hotel zone:)
Staying here in February…how’s the room service if you had it
I didn't try the room service! I hope you have a wonderful time in February! 🙂
Se ve genial
Thanks so much for watching!
Do all 5 restaurants have an outdoor area to eat??? … thanks!
Only the Steakhouse and the Buffet have outdoor eating. There is also outdoor eating at the poolside grill. Thanks so much for watching!
@@kstorrer I would really appreciate if you also review the Krystal Altitude Cancun and talk about whether or not all its restaurants have outdoor areas where to eat 😊 … thanks for sharing!, I just subscribed!, very informative ☺️
How do you feel this location would be for solo travelers?
I think it would be great for a solo traveler. Everything you need is there and the staff is very helpful if you want plan for something off the resort. Thanks so much for watching 🙂
Do you need reservations for the a la carte restaurants?
No, they don't take reservations. However, there was a wait a few times and we had to be put on a waiting list. We found that it was busiest right when they opened and less busy later in the night. Thanks so much for watching 🙂
Are the pools heated? Since really no night life where is there to go outside the resort for dancing other than coco bongos?
I'm not sure if the pools are heated but they stay pretty warm due to Cancun weather. As for entertainment outside the resort we just did shopping, but I've heard good things about The City and Mandala. Thanks so much for watching 🙂
Hello! Great review on this resort. It was very helpful.
@@Shanycole Thank you so much for watching 🙂
Hi is there any shows or nightlife at the hotel?
They do a nightly show. The shows are pretty short and end around 9:30. There's plenty of entertainment off the resort though!
so yo actually did not stay, eat or drinlk? was that just a tour of the property? what other side are ypu refering to?
Yes we stayed for 5 days. When I said the other side I was referring to the other side of the street on the Hotel Zone. The water was calmer on that side. Thanks so much for watching 🙂
I tried looking to book on expedia and looked on riu site and this place doesn't exist how do I book?

Do they have nightly events/parties on site?
Yes! There are different events each night on site. Thanks so much for watching 🙂
Do they bring you drinks to the beach?
Yes they do!! Thank you so much for watching 🙂
@@kstorrer You’re welcome
My husband and I visited RIU Palace Cancún last week and yes… it was AHHMAZING! We upgraded to Elite status (all inclusive) with ocean view.
Although we had Elite status; we assumed that meant a room with one bed; instead upon arrival we received 2 beds :-(
We contacted management and we were transferred to a king size bedroom the next day.
As mentioned, the rooms were very, very clean and I am extremely cautious clean… I do realize my clean isn’t exactly your clean (LOL).
The only complaints we had was:
Limited Restaurant Space
(1) Restaurants spaces are VERY SMALL … we waited 2 hours before we could be seated.
Limited Adult Entertainment
(2) No adult entertainment after 9:30pm. There should be some form of entertainment; perhaps a dance club featuring different types of music for adult entertainment!
I mean the place absolutely SHUT DOWN after 9:30pm!
Luckily my husband has family in Mexico who was able to show us local Mexican food and sites.. essentially we had to go outside the resort to get this.
I totally agree with you about it needing more to do after 9:30! I mean it is an adults only resort and I don't like to go to bed at 10 when I'm on vacation! I'm glad you had a good experience and thank you so much for watching 😀
Do the pools close at 10 as well?
@@Jasmine-ti5gn Hi Jasmine
Everything shuts down… (LOL)… you can stroll the resort grounds, but there’s nothing to see!
@@candicehodge5346 aw man. Thank you!
@@Jasmine-ti5gn the resort is beautiful though; and looks as described in Kelsey’s video.
We stayed at this place with the all-inclusive packages because it's a newer resort in cancun. We were disappointed at some of the services that were offered at the resort ... all pools closed at 6pm, foods at the buffet were stale and not freshly made. We ate at the different restaurants offered at this place and was disappointed because you could get all the same food at the buffet. The only difference eating at the different restaurants is that the waiters/waitresses served the food. Foods from the buffet restaurant were not allow or served while out on the pools or beach areas. These are a few disappointed services feature at this resort.
I'm sorry you had that experience! I was there when it first opened and really enjoyed my stay! I do remember the pools closing at 6 which I thought was weird too. The restaurants did have a small buffet but you could order off the menu as well (which is what we did). I thought the main buffet was great. Thanks so much for watching! 😃
could you rent jetskis nearby?
Yes, there are external service providers for water sports for an additional charge. They will approach you on the beach!
I’m all about the restaurants and bars. What was your favorite part?
Honestly probably the buffet! There was so much to choose from. I had an omelet every morning which was really nice because I never take the time to make omelets at home!
@@kstorrer but you said that wasn't the most important
@@angela72ish the beach is definitely my favorite part but the food was pretty good! Thank you for watching!
What time of year was this?
This was November 2022, a week after the resort opened.
You are gorgeous 😍
Thank you so much for watching!
Was this all inclusive?
Yes, it's all-inclusive and adults only. Thanks so much for watching 😁
So how's the nightlife there? Nothing at night??
They have nightly entertainment at the resort but it's pretty short and not very lively. You would need to leave the resort to for something more. Thanks so much for watching 😃
Just got back from staying there for a week. It is beautiful, but the food is the biggest disappointment... everything tasted like mildew every single day in every single restaurant. We actually went to Isla Mujeres and the food was much better and we told the staff there how terrible the food was and they agreed. I'll never stay there again.
Wow I'm so sorry you had that experience! The food was fine when I was there. How did you like Isla Mujeres? I was deciding between there and Cancun but decided on Cancun because it's closer to the airport. How was the beach at Isla Mujeres? Thanks so much for watching 🙂
@@kstorrer We loved the Garrafon island resort where we had purchased a package for snorkeling/swimming with dolphins. We took the free ferry that was included with our package.. I suggest paying for the nicer ferry over to the island, it is newer, has comfortable seating, and the diesel exhaust isn't coming in and making you sick like the first ferry we took to get there. The cost is $20/person.
We made a day of it, rented a golf cart and drove around. There are a few very small, but very nice looking hotels... however, they are randomly placed with very, very poor shacks. Pretty sad and quite the culture shock,
We didn't go to any of the beaches, but from the streets, they looked decent.
I believe the time to go is during the week when all of the families aren't spending the day there with their kids, and it looked pretty crowded.
@@angela72ish thanks so much for sharing this with me! So helpful!!
Hotel is nice but food is horrendous. Restaurants across the street are amazing. This is the 6th hotel me and my wife have stayed at in the hotel zone and will not be back. There are much better alternatives.
which alternatives do you recommend?
I am wanting to stay in Isla Mujeres the next time I'm in Mexico. There's a bunch of new resorts there. It is about 30 minutes away from Cancun so the drive from the airport will be longer but I'm excited to check it out.
@@kstorrer Thank you. I'll check out this new area.
