i love rado, in india it is considered as top of the line since generations. I dont know why but my father is 53 and he and his friend always talk about RADO as best of best, it is famous even in remote villages. Cheers for RADO and thanks teddy for appreciating this brand and exploring many options.
Simply Rado had worked for good standing for years in India and now Swatch Group is doing their best to sustain this image. Company itself was always regarded on par with e.g. Longines as for quality or excellence, no wonder it is still popular in your country. There are more old Swiss watch companies which concentrate mainly on eastern markets than Europe and North America and that's OK!
@@piotrkaczmarczyk1792 yea thats true I heard this story of rado ‘s advertisement In india in 1980 to early 2000 before cell popularising cell phone, it was a great deal of having a rado. But honestly it had proved its quality and image in India.
Perception of Rado is same in Pakistan. The Diastar model here is the most excessively popular model with cheap knockoffs also selling like pancakes. Its crazy just how popular Rado is in India & Pakistan.
Had one of these, really really liked it for all the reasons Teddy mentions here. Heads up to potential buyers: in normal light (not under the bright studio lights) the handset is often tough to see against the black dial--legibility / readability might be an issue for you.
I have the Red version and had to order the bracelet (the red comes on leather). It's such a comfortable and stunning watch. Fits perfectly on my 6.75" wrist. Definitely leans towards the dress watch end -- but I'm glad it does. I would have hated it with lume. I love the textured dial on this black version. It was a close second for me. Nice review, Teddy.
Definitely will look for it at our local RADO boutique in the Philippines if it's still available also be getting the Captain Cook and the new Centrix.
I think RADO make some great pieces. A brand that certainly should get more love here in the UK I think. The Golden Horse looks great in my opinion with just the right amount of personality, the dial looks classy and although generally I'm not a fan of the date at three it work's OK on this one, I'd guess as it has a border and the watch does not have lume. If it was at the six it would off balance the RADO anchor and seahorses that sit well between the pinion and the hour markers.
That is one beauty of a dress watch. If I were working in an environment where traditional business dress was required (I'm retired now, but used to work in software development, where it definitely wasn't), I'd be definitely looking at this one.
Gergeous watch! The real issue I think Rado has is that they went all in with ceramic watches and now that's what everyone will relate them with. When in reality they have some exceptional pieces in their line that are overlooked, the Captain Cook being one that springs to mind.
Rado are nice looking watches. I have a Rado Coupole. It's a gold case with a dark brown sunburst dial. It looks great when wearing a dark brown suit or sports coat.
The blue-dial golden horse you reviewed last year really had my attention, top two on my list. I smile ear-to-ear every time I see it. Alas, the Meistersinger Neo blue-dial won out for my new dress watch (purchased from your site, of course!) as it allowed me to also get the 'everyday' watch I forgot I was waiting for from Nodus. Both of these also make me smile every time I wear them! The black dial is an interesting proposition, I don't have a black-dial dress watch yet... (oh, what have I gotten myself in to with this hobby?)
I had my eye on this watch for a long time, but the lack of microadjustment was a complete deal breaker. What was Rado thinking? As crazy as it seems, people do like their $2,000 watches to fit properly.
Teddy please please please take a look at the Gemini from the swiss microbrand Nove. They basically created something very similiar to the JLC but soo much different. Would really love to see a review of it!

Make it 1K $ and screw-down crown and I buy it. We'd also appreciate it carried an ETA 2892 or Sellita 300 movement with a modern antimagnetic spiral and it would be really awesome. As it stands, its just an overpriced nice piece to look at. As for sizes, this is the way to go. In times of internet and everyone having a smart phone close at hand, whats the use - or the need - of a big, clunky watch that interferes with with your left hand all the time? I guess they hope us to measure time also by how tired we feel on our left compared to the right... The need of a watch itself is in question. I guess ppl must decide that they don't need ANY watch before the industry gurus start to think they need to build smaller pieces.
Beautiful watch, but I would rather have accuracy than power reserve. If I were to purchase one it would be on my wrist all the time, so would always be wound.
It’s a beautiful watch. Not sure however where this price comes from. Perhaps the movement is a higher grade 2824? I was expecting a bit lower than that. We are at Aikon level here.

I’ll stick my Oris Classic Date. But the 37mm Rado Captain Cook I could go for.
Your website says that the lug-to-lug of this model is 40.6mm, yet this video is saying 44.4mm. So which is it?
Hi, big fan, could you review the rado True diamonds please? Would love to see your opninion on these !
Hi Teddy,
The lug to lug size appears to be 40.6mm in your shop.
However, in your video you specified it as 44.4mm.
Which one is real?
Almost perfect. Exhibition case missing 😢
Nah, that would make it unnecessarily thick. I love a well made engraved SS caseback.
Once again, a great video, thanks for the insights Teddy!!
Amazing piece but id prefer slightly bigger dimensions of maybe 39-41mm and ofc that 19 mm lug to lug kills it.
It’s actually refreshing that there is an option for smaller wrists. Let us have something!
