You are correct. Rado is absolutely massive in the sub continent especially in Pakistan and India. I was once with a businessman friend in Dubai and he was wearing a sub mariner but when we got to the Rado store he was more excited to purchase the Rado than what he had on the wrist. It is an aspirational brand over there.
My goodness, you have raised your bar regarding production value in style, in these videos. This one starts with a spectacular and well framed title page, your macro shots are fantastic, and it seems to me, young man, if you've got a lot of stylish clothing you are horsing around with. Seriously, you are establishing an upscale style to your videos, and it looks good. I love that you are reviewing these Rado watches, and that you did take time to note the rotating logo. You know, they have a patent on that and it has a secondary function beyond aesthetics... It spins on a jewel just like those in the rest of the mechanism, and when it stops spinning, get sticky, well the watch needs to be maintained because it's the same oil and the same ruby the rest of the watch uses. Really cool watches, great review!
Great comment, Erik. Thanks for providing more context on the rotating logo. Also thank you for the kind words on the production. I have been working hard to improve the style of videos being created on this channel. Glad it is being noticed! Stay safe!
I've got a lot of Indian colleagues that love this brand, they introduced me to the Captain Cook reissue. I love the 37mm and definitely on my radar for the next buy.
I've had this Rado CC for over half a year now and it's a fantastic piece. One of the best price / value ratios in this category in my opinion. Swaping the straps / bracelet so easily helps me to never get bored of it.
I bought the 37mm special edition and I couldn't be any happier. The 37mm has a bigger appearance on the wrist than its dimensions and really love the fact it comes with 3 different straps. Rado made an excellent discision to look back at its archives and reissue this lovely unknown vintage and did so with great success. My biggest love about this watch which no one has mention is that the mesh bracelet can be adjusted to any size which allows a perfect fit on the wrist and looks so attractive on the wrist. Not many bracelets out there can do that!!
Rado is one of the most durable watches I’ve ever owned. I got my first one when I graduated and I still get compliments on that watch. Their design and innovative material choices stand out even to this day. A lot of watch brands say their watches are scratch proof, but a good 15 years later my first Rado looks and feels like new
Rado is the most loved luxury watch brand in India because unlike Rolex, it is a bit more affordable luxury especially for the middle class. If you own a Rado in India, it shows you're doing well in life. A Rado is what is usually gifted during weddings as well. Rolex is also popular but is still limited to a very very small section of the society. I appreciate you covering Rado with so much detail because the brand is mostly overlooked in the horology community.
Thank You for doing this. Rarely western reviewers focus on this. Rado watches meant luxury and wealth for every kid who grew up for last 50 yrs back in Asia or Middle East. They were fancy wirh Gold and diamond and nearly in 6 digit currency. Celebs used to have it. I have always wondered why people don’t look into it. Thanks for this video. Learned a lot more about this company
Teddy is so on point. I am from India and mention Rolex, Omega, and Rado and most likely people will say Rado as their preferred brand and Rado has done well to maintain their reputation by selling their all gold tone watch as their top seller in India and probably surrounding countries.
Oh, yeah, I saw that one on Watchfinder & Co not so long ago and got it in 42mm. Design is so perfect, as well as specs and price. Another similar cool vintage inspired dive watch would be Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, but it demands a Submariner price))
I've got the 42mm green version, and it's amazingly light on the leather strap.if you didn't know you would think this was quartz. If your looking for a chunky diver then this is not it. What this is , is a beautiful proportioned dive watch that's elegant on the wrist, but still has that wow factor. And the leather strap is so soft, it almost feels like suede, but isn't. It looks great on the beads of rice too, but could have benefited of having some micro adjusts in the clasp. I know they wanted to keep it slim as possible, which they achieved, the clasp Hardly feels like you've got one. I actually cringe when I think I've owned some huge thick clasps in the past that weight more than this entire package. Rado make some great watches , they are very durable too. A perfect watch that could easily be your only wearer, because it's so light and comfortable to wear. And even though the case is highly polished, I don't think this will scratch very easily. I don't know what rado do with their metalwork, but they are probably the best in the business for their use of materials.
Absolutely love my 37mm Captain Cook which looks stunning especially in the sunshine. Great review but personally I prefer the smaller size on my 6.5” wrist. Mine also came with a NATO and a Milanese strap in the box.
The CC is a beautiful watch hands-down. I've bought a 37mm (I have a small wrist) black dial with a steel bracelet as a perfect everyday watch. It's now one of my three most favorite watches in my collection, the other ones being the Tudor North Flag and the Omega Speedmaster Reduced.
Addendum for 3:12. The 37mm version that you featured actually cones with the leather roll, strap change tool, NATO strap, and mesh bracelet. I've seen this at my local AD and have been eyeing the 37mm for a while.
My biggest take away from the RADO CC is the rice grain bracelet. Usually RADO designs don’t appeal to me but this one’s really catching my attention. Thanks Teddy for another great video.
This has been on my “Rado” for 12 months or so.🤣Love the look of both. Unfortunately other priorities got in the way. Quite a well recognized brand Down Under. Another top review👍🏻
For some reason they’re so well known in most Asian countries. Some people even put them as competitors to Omega or even Rolex. It’s unfortunate that it’s not as renowned in Northern America. Oh well...great watch though.

I own the 42 with a retro sunburst dial and it’s now my favourite daily wearer. I’m not a fan of rado at all - but I’m a fan of the captain cook. Great piece!
Actually, I have a small wrist and previously stuck my flag at 40mm which is where most forums tell you to, but when I tried this on I realised how perfect the 42mm size is, especially with the 12.1mm hight. I bought it .... Diving watches have to have some presence, and here you can have it with a comfortable fit, and without the normal diver sense of “chunk”. I tried the 39.5mm Oris and for my wrist, it’s too small, but is also thicker and funnily feels more chunky. IMHO this is one of the best daily desk divers available, and I think it looks better then the Omega Diver 300m and the rather boring submariner. I really think it plays in that league, bar the new Omega movements which are superior. But the aspects of the design of this watch have created a diving watch which is noticeably Rado, smart and unique, which in the crowded dive watch space is a real achievement.
I absolutely love Rado. One of my prize possessions is a vintage automatic DiaStar that belonged to my dad. It's non-functional but maybe one day I'll get it back to it's ticking glory!
Just recieved the Green 42mm version with the standard bracelet, a leather band w/clasp and a NATO Strap included in the package. I had no idea it came with these extras so it was definitely a nice surprise. Im in love with this watch and can't keep my eyes off of it.
I'd have to spring for a 42 mm, part of the reason I'm into watches is to get lost in the dial and the designs of watches. I love Casio watches and Dive style watches for their designs and features, it's enough for me to just to watch time move. So I always spring for a bigger watch, but I am in full support of smaller pieces as well.
Be eyeing the Capt Cook for a while. Definitely a competitor with the Diver 65, Longines/Heritage Skin, Zodiac Super Seawolf, Sinn , etc.. Great value there
I agree. I've found thick bezels make the face smaller, as well as making it look smaller. I typically like 40-41mm, 42 can look similar if the lugs are short and if there is a bezel. One example of a 42 that *didn't* work for me was the Hamilton Murph, which I otherwise loved...
@@TeddyBaldassarre In everyone’s defense, I think I speak for almost everyone when I say we first clapped eyes on the Rado Diastar, felt a bit queasy/uneasy, and never looked back. The Captain Cook really blindsided me. I’m surprised they didn’t release it sooner. Now, that said, I wish there was a middle -ground version, maybe 39-40mm because the 37 seems good, but have to double check the size, but the 45 just seems too “Invicta-ish” in terms of size. With the thin height, I think 40mm would be the sweet spot for this absolute gem. Just my opinion and it’s worth exactly what y’all paid for it 😏☺️
I want to apologize right quick, I thought they only had the 37mm and the XL version at 45mm. I just learned of the 42mm version, so fortunately after saying all those words, there plenty of room in my mouth to put my foot 🤣.
Captain Cook’s museum in Whitby U.K. is a great step back to a historical time of global adventure and exploration. This watch does grow on me, especially the crazy cool green dial - just fun and something different to augment any watch collection. Loving the big bold hour hand for excellent legibility.
I like the 42 mm very much. Rado is an unappreciated brand that deserves more recognition from the enthusiasts. I got two Rado watches a DiaStar from the 70’s that was my late father’s watch and a D-Star 200 diver and I like both of them very much. Nice video and keep the good work my friend!
I tried on a blue Rado Captain Cook and Oris Aquis not too long ago and (only my opinion) I much preferred the Rado. I was extremely tempted but financially it wasn't that right time to purchase, and given the current state of economic affairs it was probably a good thing I didn't. Maybe one day. Very nice watch
No not true you have to listen to his statement closely his English isn't that good. Listening to him again you will realize he's referring to the original watch back in the day. I was fooled too.
I frickin' LOVE the Capn. Cook. I frickin' love Rado's little rotating anchor logo. Some of Rado's designs are.... But when they get it right? They get it very right.
Brian McKay - Yeah. Like I said. When they get a design right... and they got it right on this piece. It's fucking spectacular! You speak about the watch like it’s some sort of precious relic of yore that needs to saved from the extremely dangerous pursuit of wearing it on your wrist for antiquities sake! It’s a watch. It’s meant to be used. It’ll take some knocks and be fine. It’s domed sapphire and ceramic. It’ll be ok mate. Jesus!
@Brian McKay Again, you must be from the "Dr. Spock school of unimaginative, narrow thinking". This watch is great looking. Great Scott! I bet you're an Invicta fan!

Interesting enough my wife never heard of Rado! Back 35 years ago, when i was a kid in PR ... i remember Rado being the epitome of luxury with gold watches with precious stones like diamonds and rubies inside... i remember admiring my uncles rolex and rado collection!
It's cool that you did a video on this and the North Flag. Both are extremely underrated watches, but are on my list. I know the anchor feature is kind of gimmicky, but redardless I think its pretty cool & especially with everything else that comes with this watch, the price is worth it to me. Keep up the good work Teddy!
TB, I have always appreciated Rado and almost purchased the Day/Date unique Rado Diastar a few years ago and passed bc it was 35mm. But the second I saw the Captain Cook recently I instantly fell in love with that look and larger size. Thanks for the great review I’ve been waiting to hear on this attractive piece from an underrated brand!👍
Damn it Teddy! I haven't thought about Rado in YEARS. Literally the last time I thought about Rado was when I first saw a V10K almost 20+ years ago. This Captain Cook is just quirky enough for me to make some space for in my watch box. Great review. Stay safe!
I own a Rolex and honestly there are a lot of watches in the $1,000 to $2,000 price range as good or better than many Rolex’s. Rolex, with their fake shortages, know how to market.
@@rickjason215 You can be almost guarantee that a Rolex will do exactly as you command. Like Levi and Coca Cola or Toyota. Certain brands have that recognition. And they do sell because of that. To day a cheaper brand is better because people buy them does not discount the value of Rolex.
Yes! I tried one of the blue dial 42mm on the other day at a retailer, and I immediately fell in love. It felt so good on my wrist. The leather was fantastic, and the clasp was phenomenal. Great watch in my opinion. Excited to watch the rest of the review! Great work as always, Teddy.
I bought the 42 mm captain cook with a green face and SS bracelet as an end of year present to myself in 2019, had been eyeing it for a while leading up to it, its so beautiful in the pics and when I finally saw it in person, I was even more impressed. It's a gorgeous piece in this price point. I'm so glad to see a review on it from you, was wondering if you were going to get to it someday. Thanks for all the great content, enjoying the channel very much.
I love the bead blasted hands, and curved crystal. The hands add that "old treasure chest" look, and the crystal gives that looking through an explorers telescope lense feel. I like it alot.
Received my 42mm in blue today, with a silver bracelet - amazing watch for its money- does not feel like a 42mm I have a slim wrist and looks a perfect fit - 5 links removed in total.
@@TheSkatereel he's from Mexico. Teddy, you should try and get your hands on a Rado Diastar if you get a chance. It's the ugly duckling of the lineup but they're neat little watches.
Beautiful and very unique diver watch that stands out of competition!❤️ Rado is highly respected brand in India but some how it is underrated in US I don’t know why? This watch is on my radar to buy when my budget is right! 🤗 Teddy what a great review! 👍
I'm Indian and yes Rado is pretty big here primarily because the quartz lineup is pretty cheap, so alot of people go for the quartz watches thinking they're buying affordable swiss luxury from 700-1000 USD. You will usually find women in this category. Next, I see men wearing automatics that max out 2000 USD after discount. This is a massive market for Rado. Also, they advertise the most in comparison to their counterparts such as Federique Constant, Apina, Tag Heuer, Longines etc. Hope this helps!
Macy’s sells Rado. I came close to getting the 42 this past winter. 35% off retail if using a Macy’s credit card. I’m still saving for an Omega so I passed.
Love the Captain Cook here. My wife and I both own one, she has the white with mesh (37mm) and I have the black on BoR def worth the money as they have excellent finishing and wear very slim.
I love that you tried both cases and had some really good analysis on how each wears. I have the same wrist size so 42 mm is usually not my style. However, I may rethink that with this watch.
This one ticks so many boxes for me - like a highly domed crystal and that gloriously retro looking bezel. It also seems to be exceptionally well priced for a diver from a Swatch-group brand. The only thing I dislike is the fact that they basically put in the Powermatic 80, dropping the beat-rate down to 3 Hz. Maybe it's just me, but I'll gladly take "only" 40 to 42 hours of power-reserve in exchange for a smoother sweep of the seconds-hand.
Man i have been waiting for this video... and now having seen the 42mm on your wrist I would actually consider that one as there are so many color variants of it. I know that the 37 would really fit my wrist better, but more food for thought now that I have seen this. One thing I hadn't noticed on other vids of these are the matte finished hands on the newer models, which i love. On the other hand the sunburst dial is gorgeous, so hats off again for your videography. I know I have said it before but I do love the wide range of watches you cover here as I don't have a passport to Rolex City yet. I'm on the fence between buying one of these now and saving up a bit more for the Aqua terra 38mm in black. Sorry for my long-winded reply!
Owning the 37mm myself I’d say it does feel quite small when you first put it on but give it time on the wrist (6.5” in my case) and it feels perfect. Yes, it’s not a chunky, macho, look what a sporty guy I am, style of watch like the Submariner and it’s countless derivatives but it is a unique and beautiful timepiece with exquisite detail and quality that will have you checking your wrist far, far more times than is polite in company!
@@johnnybgood7812 I have about that same size wrist, so yeah I am always looking at lug to lug etc, but in this case, the Rado just stands out from the usual crowd. If I buy it i'll get the brown faced or the ghost by Revolution.
I considered getting one of the 37mm, Captain Cooks. The one issue I have, is the fact that these watches don't have micro adjustment at all. I wish they did, with most watches I really need it.
The Captain Cook has been on my shopping list for a long time, but I keep dipping into my savings for other purchases. Thanks for the review and comparison.
One thing's for sure they are not hiding behind shine. The matte finishes are extremely difficult to pull off as everything can be seen. Very handsome.
Interesting watch, Teddy. One of my favorite things about this channel is the wide variety of watches I see here. This channel has allowed me to greatly expand my knowledge and appreciate timepieces more. I sent a request to your Facebook group. Hopefully I can learn more there and share my quickly growing collection. Cheers.
I like Rado and one of my earliest "good" watches was the Sintra chronograph which is an amazing design all in ceramic. However after that watch I couldn't find anything by Rado to stand out until now. In a sea of Submariner clones this is so unique and attractive and clean design that doesn't need bells and whistles. I must start saving now.
Im swiss..., and very familiar with the brand. But somehow i would never buy a RADO. To me they are somehow worn out....sorry to say no offense. But here in Switzerland i see barley people wearing them. Maybe older people with them old ass ceramic models. I would suggest to spend that money on a tag heuer or save 2000 more and start with a breitling or IWC. Ps. Great videos and explanation as always teddy!! You’re the man!!!
I bought the 42mm in green, very nice watch, the ceramic bezel and sapphire make it pretty shiny, but the color of the watch varies greatly with light, sometimes dark and subdued, sometimes brilliant emerald green. I bought with leather/deployment clasp and then got the beads of rice, both look great. The watch is fairly thin and relatively lightweight and wears very well. I wish the lume was stronger, and applied indices would change the retro feel but up the luxury. The main complaint though is the crown is too small, but I really only use it to hack the movement as it runs 5-10 seconds fast per day. I guess that is better than running slow because it is easier to correct. Power reserve is amazing, it rarely stops ticking while waiting for the next wear.
Tried it on today with the beads of rice bracelet, found it very “blingy” with all the high polish finishing. Also, no micro adjust has put me off a bit wondering if I’ll get the fit I want on my 6.25 inch wrist. It’s a shame they don’t do a rubber strap like with the Breitling superocean heritage
i LOVE this watch in blue with a steel bracelet. but it would be fair to say that in this price range or a little bit above breitling colt is my office-casual choice
Hi ted...I’m from india and I agree with your opinion on the popularity of rado in my country... it’s considered an entry to midlevel luxury brand for men beating the likes of Oris and longines and the Main reason is how well the marketing for rado is in India . It’s Not personally one of the brand I like but nonetheless very popular!
Very unique look for a diver that stands out from the crowd, and I agree that the leather band adds a nice extra touch of style. I've got to find a dealer so I can look at them in person.

@@dioxviad it’s very popular in Asia. Basically every high-income Indian I’ve met owns a Rado watch.
I´d take the 42mm although I hate the 21mm lug width. What I love about this watch: the hour hand. Georgeous!
That 37 looks gorgeous...now I need a raise👌
Captain Cook’s museum in Whitby U.K. is a great step back to a historical time of global adventure and exploration. This watch does grow on me, especially the crazy cool green dial - just fun and something different to augment any watch collection. Loving the big bold hour hand for excellent legibility.
I bought the burgundy version tonight. Loving it. I really appreciated your review and it helped me. Thank you.
I just got the 1962 37mm yesterday. Thanks to you and Wil for helping me choose my next watch
Actually the revolving Rado ⚓ is, according to its CEO, an indicator of the movement's lubrication status 🤓 great video as usual Teddy! 😀
No not true you have to listen to his statement closely his English isn't that good. Listening to him again you will realize he's referring to the original watch back in the day. I was fooled too.
@@robertsullivan4773 👍🏻
Lubrication? Lubrification does sound like an awesome/hilarious word tho.
@@rhineman thanks for correcting my mistake! 😀 It's in French actually.. 😉

Stay safe!
There are many haters for rado in the watch community but i personally love the brand.
I own a Rado hyperchrome automatic. Incredibly versatile watch and a good, more affordable, alternative to the Rolex Explorer.
I own a Rolex and honestly there are a lot of watches in the $1,000 to $2,000 price range as good or better than many Rolex’s. Rolex, with their fake shortages, know how to market.
@@rickjason215
You can be almost guarantee that a Rolex will do exactly as you command. Like Levi and Coca Cola or Toyota.
Certain brands have that recognition. And they do sell because of that. To day a cheaper brand is better because people buy them does not discount the value of Rolex.
Here in Puerto Rico Rado has a huge following!! My Dad owns two!! That CC is beautiful 😍
Thanks for watching, James! I agree with you here on the watch too!
Love that you're finally talking about Rado on here
My neighbor is a huge Rado fan. He has like 6 of these. It's cool you're showcasing them brother.
I wish my neighbors had cool watches haha. Thanks for watching buddy!
Trevillyan Indian?
@@TheSkatereel he's from Mexico. Teddy, you should try and get your hands on a Rado Diastar if you get a chance. It's the ugly duckling of the lineup but they're neat little watches.
Beautiful and very unique diver watch that stands out of competition!❤️ Rado is highly respected brand in India but some how it is underrated in US I don’t know why? This watch is on my radar to buy when my budget is right! 🤗 Teddy what a great review! 👍
I’ve been eyeing this watch for years. Hopefully one day I will own one
That 42 fit your wrist much better than I was expecting. Nice video.
Stunning watches!
Yesterday I was looking for this beauty 😍
Awesome looking pieces no doubt! Thanks for watching, my friend! Stay safe!
Macy’s sells Rado. I came close to getting the 42 this past winter. 35% off retail if using a Macy’s credit card. I’m still saving for an Omega so I passed.
How much macys wants for the cook please ?
Love the Captain Cook here. My wife and I both own one, she has the white with mesh (37mm) and I have the black on BoR def worth the money as they have excellent finishing and wear very slim.
I love that you tried both cases and had some really good analysis on how each wears. I have the same wrist size so 42 mm is usually not my style. However, I may rethink that with this watch.
I prefer it over Oris tbh , I'm a sucker for vintage aesthetic and broad arrow
This one ticks so many boxes for me - like a highly domed crystal and that gloriously retro looking bezel. It also seems to be exceptionally well priced for a diver from a Swatch-group brand. The only thing I dislike is the fact that they basically put in the Powermatic 80, dropping the beat-rate down to 3 Hz. Maybe it's just me, but I'll gladly take "only" 40 to 42 hours of power-reserve in exchange for a smoother sweep of the seconds-hand.
Excellent review, and one of the best divers at the moment, full stop
Try this in the red dial version. I have one and its an absolute beauty!
Production values going up with every video
I was going to buy an oris aquis on the rubber but I saw the green dial 42mm rado and just couldn’t resist, love it
Man i have been waiting for this video... and now having seen the 42mm on your wrist I would actually consider that one as there are so many color variants of it.
Hi Michael, thanks for watching. Always happy to help. Stay safe out there!
Beautiful b-roll Teddy, I prefer the gold dial, looks awesome in contrast with the bezel, hands and that little rotor at 12 o'clock. Well explained!
Thanks Marko. Trying to hang with you! Keep up the good work on your end!
@@TeddyBaldassarre u're already there Teddy! 🙏🙌
Cheers.
Always loved the looks of the Captain Cook. Recently got a ceramic Rado Grande Seconde and I’m very impressed by the build quality
Beautiful watch and great review, I have a Rado d star 200 black ceramic and I love it!
You'r right. Rado is consider luxury brand in India. Especially Rado (original) in gold with diamond.
The ultimate diver IMHO is the Sinn U1, but this 42 mm Hook looks great.
Love the U1. A real peace of metal.
I handled one of these in a Rado boutique recently. Very beautiful watch in person.
Rado is an amazing brand... needs more attention ...
you have brought a new awareness to a cool looking watch thank you.
Yes, It is pretty popular in India. I haven't seen them much since moving to US. My roommate here had one though
Thank you Teddy for making my decision easier! I just bought this beautiful watch on blue! The sunburst dial is awesome! Keep up the good work!
i LOVE this watch in blue with a steel bracelet. but it would be fair to say that in this price range or a little bit above breitling colt is my office-casual choice
Love your "unconventional" pick and review of watches, as of late! The 42mm captain cook looks amazing.
Have the 37 mm and its dial is killer. Gets a lot of wrist time. Nice vid
I like how light Captain Cook dive watches are.
At last a good comprehensive review. Thanks.
The first watch I ever purchased for myself was a Rado V10K around 2005 or so. I loved the thing but rarely, still do, but rarely wear it anymore. I don’t think I could ever sell it since it was my first “real” watch.
The 42mm looks great on the dark brown leather.
