The beginning sounded a like Final Fantasy battle song. =p I love Motoi Sakuraba. His work is AMAZING. The drums and guitar in his songs along with the chord progressions are just fantastic.
I agree, I would love another Baten Kaitos, too many people didn't get to see the game, if they remade it, or came out with another one I know it will go big.
I didnt play Baten Kaitos much (finished it anyway :D) But I so much loved those OST that now I feel like any new J-RPG OST is a copy... Can hear some things that are the same *.* Anyway, Love it. Keep on going you japanese geniuses :D
@XharchianValor This. So much this. Sakuraba really only shines nowadays when he utilizes orchestral or heavy rock stuff. His synthesizer stuff pales in comparison.
Lack of personality? What i couldn't find less in this game was personality in the characters. Entrancing story, full of twists and plots, and very human characters, as well as rocking soundtracks... It rules, yes
I read somewhere that they tried to do that muffling sound on purpose; since you're a "Guardian Spirit", it's supposed to emphasize that you're viewing them from another dimension. Or something.
@Xolotl8 you need to obtain the "Shampoo" card after 2 weeks (in real-time) of gameplay, it will become the "Splended Hair" card, which will unlock all of the music tracks. I know, it sux D:
I beat this boss, but it was such a fluke it was rediculous. Everyone was dead but Xelha, and she was close. The only attack I had was a Fire lvl 1, And I used it and somehow won... And only on my second try, too! ahh, Nostalgia... i love it...
Holy shit, this music is so insanely epic! Screw Kalas, Xelha, Gibari and all those other guys, let me in there, give me cards so I can kick that god of destruction ass all the way to Mira and back!
@tarkeke Don't even get me started on Eternal Sonata's music, which I somehow forgot about. The music in that game is SEXY. Proof that Sakuraba needs to do orchestral more often.
both were good, but if you play this one first, origins' feels more fun because you can see the younger versions of many characters. Both have crazy plot twists. Especially this one.
Well I don't know how likely we are to see a Baten Kaitos for the Wii, but what I will say is that for whatever reason Eternal Sonata vaguely reminded me of Baten Kaitos. I guess their soundtracks are pretty similar sounding if nothing else. Given this game's soundtrack is on par with a game about a freaking classical composer, that's obviously a compliment.
@devilhunter369 Both soundtracks were composed by Motoi Sakuraba. As good as his soundtracks are, they have a bad habit of sounding similar to one another.
Yes and hopefully baten kaitos will receive the noteriety it so deserves to get the 3rd game made like with shulk and xenoblade chronicles@@negljbreakergaming
@suiriryoku That would explain why the main battle-theme of Eternal Sonata sounded to me so much like a battle-theme from Baten Kaitos... Not that it was a bad thing, I really like BK.
@ModelOz don't agree. Tales of symphonia were mostly midi stuff and has some of my favourite alltime gametracks. asgard, raine theme, final destination and kratos theme to name a ^^ don't mean to not let you disagree with me, just stating my oppinion. I think baten kaitos is his best work of what I've heard though. the music is so engrossing and generally not too upbeat, which I think is a good thing. Something I misliked with tales of vesperia and origins
Honestly, playing the remasters, they could have/should have swapped the battle BGM from Malpercio I + II with Malpercio III's battle BGM. The effect would have been haunting and amazing. Edit: swap any instance of "Supreme Ruler of the Nine Heavens" with "Violent Storm." Though the first two Malpercio fights would be a touch odd with Violent Storm..
Man, Sakuraba's work is so restrained when he only has synthesized instruments, but when he has the resources, he's a genius to behold!
Motoi Sakuraba is pretty much Dream Theater for video games.
100% support this comment. also listen to Guilty Gear Strive OST since it has a lot of DT influences on show
The beginning sounded a like Final Fantasy battle song. =p
I love Motoi Sakuraba. His work is AMAZING. The drums and guitar in his songs along with the chord progressions are just fantastic.
I want a Baten Kaitos remake :(
I don't think it will ever happen but a remaster or a port on modern system would be already super great.
They just need to clean up the spoken audio and the game is perfect
nintendo switch..... please?!!!!! hahahahahahaha
guess what xd
Boy oh boy, do we have some exciting rumors for you
the electric guitar was what really blew me away
makes you wonder what goes through Motoi Sakuraba's head when he makes these amazing songs
The man is well known to be a legend in video game orchestrating.
This entire soundtrack is so... so... *Kreygasm*
This is the song you play when you slay gods
It's time
Imagine Dream Theater would play this! Awesome!
1:45 - 2:00 sounds so goddamn badass
Damn nice those Gamma Ray riffs 👍
Absolute MADNESS!
No, this is not madness...
This...
Is...
KALAS!
Such an amazing track.
Both Baten Kaitos games are my top favorite RPG. They both have great battles and epic battle music. :D
coolest final boss theme
my favorite keyboard player :D
Have at thee, oh Darkness, Valshan Valara!*(*Until my heart stops)
I love this song. It gets me hyped up.
AQUA BURST AQUA BURST AQUA BURST AQUA BURST AQUA BURST
So this guy composed Dark Souls music?! Are you shitting me?! Where is my epic symphonic metal boss music FROM?!
LOL??
The Decisive Battle.
Close though. ^^ This and that are good songs!
It is :P
That's 3 guitars we got playin' there.
One day this theme will be in smash and it will be glorious.
Any Baten Kaitos character in Smash has been my dream
At least there's the valedictory elegy
The beginning is epic!
oh damn, it actually does sound like that! That's awesome!
Oh my god I love this game.
Best final boss theme ever
Love this game and its soundtracks! :-)
I've never heard a better final boss theme than this. It's absolutely amazing and just pumps you up.
Epic!
I agree, I would love another Baten Kaitos, too many people didn't get to see the game, if they remade it, or came out with another one I know it will go big.
still in awe at how the music for this game was
The beginning is super g00d
sakuraba is an unstoppable force
Just me or does this sound sort of like a Guilty Gear song?
It totally sounds straight outta XX. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the composers from GG worked on this.
Reminds me of Meet Again from guilty gear XX
Indeed.
The man also composed Dark souls.
This song appeals to the passion of the Fire elemental.
Elementals really appeal to me, just so everyone knows.
Had a eargasm from 2:00 - 2:15
I didnt play Baten Kaitos much (finished it anyway :D) But I so much loved those OST that now I feel like any new J-RPG OST is a copy... Can hear some things that are the same *.*
Anyway, Love it. Keep on going you japanese geniuses :D
Begin is so epic ! :o
I tried getting my friends to play this (just a few days ago) and they thought it was too complicated. >.>
tbh i thought these games were complicated too but after playing it and talking to that kid by the well i had the game figured out
just in time
the boss fights in this game.. so fucking epic
gotta love the jazz organ solo at 2:00
Take this!... Huh!... Kyaahh!!... Is that all you got!?
AQUA BURST! AQUA BURST!
CHRONOS BLOW~!
LIGHT FLARE~~!
Some parts sound like Castlevania + Kill the king (Rainbow), awesome
that solo at 2;15... wow
Lets see who's worthy....MALPERCIO!! god damn i love this battle xD
That musical note and rhythm is a similarity to Vega's background theme also known as "Crimson" from Street Fighter Alpha & ZERO 3 0:00
And is similarity to Final Fantasy 6 boss theme
Yup.
It rules, yes
lol resident evil voie acting.
"TAKE A LOOK AT THIS!"
"What is this?"
"STOP, Dont open the door!!!"
Melodia:YES! (Orgasms)
and one of the special attacks she has doesnt even makes sence! "pre pare to die, sparkle of life". right...im going to die from that
Awesome epic battle. Malpercio really was a pain if you don't use strong combos. That damn enchanted blade of his healed him so much.
I read somewhere that they tried to do that muffling sound on purpose; since you're a "Guardian Spirit", it's supposed to emphasize that you're viewing them from another dimension. Or something.
I NEED THIS CD.
Someday i see the live of this máster piece. Someday.....
Holy shit, this music is so insanely epic! Screw Kalas, Xelha, Gibari and all those other guys, let me in there, give me cards so I can kick that god of destruction ass all the way to Mira and back!
But you are the guardian spirit, you get all the best cards (spirit magnus). You're basically the most uber character in the game.
brainjuice654 Maybe, but it's more fun to actually kick his ass then to just sit back and watch.
ZPokemonfanA Helll YEAHH!!
Rainbow influence is clear here.
Malpercio was a bitch! Even though I was struggling the whole time, I still had to bang my head to this song!
i want to replay the game, but my bro took my gamecube along with my games
i rlly liked the story of this game series
@RadikTheReaper1 yes its used in tales of* ans ACS game. i think is a mix.
The intro of the song reminds me of FF6 and a bit rest of the song gives me huge SMT vibes.
@tarkeke Don't even get me started on Eternal Sonata's music, which I somehow forgot about. The music in that game is SEXY. Proof that Sakuraba needs to do orchestral more often.
@FunnyLilCat Baten Kaitos 3 for the Wii is a no brainer, think about the possibilities of using the Wii mote to grab cards and use them in battle.
Sounds like Guilty Gear music.
both were good, but if you play this one first, origins' feels more fun because you can see the younger versions of many characters. Both have crazy plot twists. Especially this one.
but my ears are dancing
Well I don't know how likely we are to see a Baten Kaitos for the Wii, but what I will say is that for whatever reason Eternal Sonata vaguely reminded me of Baten Kaitos. I guess their soundtracks are pretty similar sounding if nothing else. Given this game's soundtrack is on par with a game about a freaking classical composer, that's obviously a compliment.
Have you bought the collection for Switch?
i was comparing the kalas twist to the marno twist actually. I think the one concerning kalas was really unexpected.
@Xolotl8 I know, the game doesn't take near 2 weeks to complete, & If you wait early in the game the time will screw up your magnus. D:
why does the beginning sound like The Decisive Battle - Final Fantasy VI
golden sun is where its at
GAAAAAH!!! I can't think of where this plays!
where was it...
Final boss?
This song sounds like an FF song and an SMT song had a baby
this theme just make want to kick the players out and jump myself into the game screen to fight with malpercio all by myself.sakuraba is the best!
They're making another Golden Sun, so they could probably do something else with Baten Kaitos.
@szlatyka to me is like a mix ("festival of servant" from castlevania SOTN - "Beat the Angel" from Tales of Symphonia- "Decisive Battle" from FFV)I
Hey everyone.
I'm currently working of a nice guitar cover of Violent Storm.
Hope I'll finish it soon.
Cheers
I'm gunning for either Kalas, Sagi, Guilo or Verus-Wiseman. Or have Sagi's Final Smash having Verus-Wiseman pwning the screen.
I have just realized that maybe this theme borrows some notes of the intro from Final Fantasy VI Boss Battle Theme. Nonetheless, both are amazing!
Malpercio was one hard son of a bitch to fight, but his music is one of the best tracks in the game.
I rarely had problems with BK's combat system, but maybe that was because I had been playing CCGs for years at that time so was used to deck building.
pleas bring this game and origins to the #nintendo switch
WISH GRANTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I didn't know I would've guessed that's some Falcom game's music lol
hey... the music of baten kaitos was used in ACS game.
intro...so likely FF6 BOSS FIGHT
@devilhunter369
Both soundtracks were composed by Motoi Sakuraba. As good as his soundtracks are, they have a bad habit of sounding similar to one another.
This song should be in the next smash bros
+eastsidehomie3 Kalas should be in the next smash bros
+Particlepants or not...
+Kalas TV or totally the fuck yes
Yes and hopefully baten kaitos will receive the noteriety it so deserves to get the 3rd game made like with shulk and xenoblade chronicles@@negljbreakergaming
These characters should be in Smash Bros!
At the start, it sounds like the boss theme from Final Fantasy 3/6.
@tirihashi you can turn of the voices in the options lol
@suiriryoku
That would explain why the main battle-theme of Eternal Sonata sounded to me so much like a battle-theme from Baten Kaitos...
Not that it was a bad thing, I really like BK.
This song fits number 1 in my top 10 video game songs. (2 being Mjolnir mix hah)
The beginning of the song sounds like Street fighter alpha 3 Vega theme!
Lol, I used an all attack magnus deck. It works really well against everything :D
@FunnyLilCat If only that could be true...That would really make me happy!
this sounds like a Guilty Gear track =O
