What does this exotic carrier have to offer when flying their flagship A350 between Johannesburg and Mauritius? Find out what their business class is like in this video.
Tweny years ago my wife and I were fortunate to travel back to the UK from the island in first class. (It amused my wife that she had to get up and walk to the back of the seat in front to get the inflight magazine!). Everything about the journey was wonderful. At one point, with the cabin in darkness, the Captain came to my seat an whispered: “Mr Price, if you raise your blind a little you’ll get a great view of Mt Etna in eruption.’ He then quietly returned to the cockpit. Magic!
Flew Air Mauritius, from Heathrow ten or so years ago. 12 hours each way. Two things I remember: 1) the crew fumigated the cabin about 30 minutes before landing, with gas canisters - to prevent importing unwanted wildlife, 2) on the return trip, about 7 hours in, someone lit up a cigarette at their seat, most bizarre.
I don't know how Paul does it but know for sure I would not be the person for the job of constantly flying, editing, keeping up with time zones, family affairs/issues,credit card companies, airline emails,etc..My hat off to you Paul.
It’s a shame that Comair SA didn’t make it. I flew them to Mauritius as a BA codeshare as part of my route from London via Jo’berg and I found their business class to be pretty decent in terms of food and service standards. The seats were unfortunately the standard BA club Europe affair although this was on their older 737-400’s so not sure if this was the same of the 737 NG’s they upgraded to.
Dating that London video could be anywhere between 1998 and 2001. There's an Arriva London (founded 1998) open-topper passing through Trafalgar Square and Heron Quays DLR station closed in 2001 for rebuilding.
As a lifelong Chicagoan... the Chicago WHAT Bulls? Genuinely, they're just the Chicago Bulls. The NY/NJ Major League Soccer team is the Red Bulls. The Chicago NBA team is just the Bulls. But, other than that, awesome video, as always, Paul!
9:54 whats funny is that those "premium" payot paris toiletries are featured in EVA air's economy class bathroom! (although that flight did take 15 hours sooo...)
Great Vid Paul! Love an A350 review always especially in Business Class and with such a small and unique airline that being Air Mauritius 🇲🇺 so cool!! 😊 Also Paul at 7:15 that contactless payment point is for purchasing airline models, ✈️ wine,🍷 jewelry 💎 and other duty free items that show the prices on the IFE system… Finally I remember seeing the first Comair 🇿🇦 Boeing 737 MAX 8s take their flights to the airline and now they sit unused.. Sad! 😔
First, I love Mauritius, always been cattle class though, but did travel on their 747SP in 1988...secondly I think the London video is from about yr2000 as the Citi group tower is visible in one shot...started in 1998 finished in 2001.....but I could be seeing things!
i reckon the video is 1992. my aunty lived in poplar and that view of canary wharf at 11:33 is exactly how i remember the city skyline from around then, only 3 or 4 big buildings, seemed to have exploded after 95
Great review, Paul. When I worked at Kuoni, we used to sell a lot of Air Mauritius and the route that you took as well - it had a good reputation back then as well
My former co-worker and her husband went to Mauritius from NY for a holiday (they wanted to go somewhere off the beaten path), quite a long flight just to get to South Africa!
I know this is a thing on AirNZ you can buy bottles of wine and Merchandise on the IFE with your credit card. Possibly they put this in or it came with the seat design?
Every time there's a dearth of quality IFE, I *really* wish there was some way to access a USB drive's video files to play onto their screen. They absolutely *could* scan them for threats before allowing the content. I mean, if you're paying for J, I, A, F, they've got the headroom to afford licensing some great stuff.
I flew Air Mauritius several years ago - and it was the worst flight I Have ever had. The aircraft was due to be retired soon after but regardless was poorly provisioned - we ran out of drinking water midway thru the 14 hour flight (Heathrow to Mauritius), the air con was stuck on freezing cold, so much so that several passengers were becoming unwell, and to try and compensate they gave out blankets to all passengers - but only had enough for about 25%. So we literally froze. The crew then locked all the toilets as passenger were desperate for drinking water were drinking the non drinking water from the basins so we couldn't even go for a pee etc. Finally ALL the cabin crew disappeared somewhere and didn't re-appear till about 15 mins before touchdown. A hellish test of endurance and appalling service. Would never ever fly with them again.
Great vlog as always! MRU is on my list too! I do not eat chicken ever. From when I started flying stand by in 1978 there was always chicken served in one way or the other on every trip. Strange that I dont have white feathers on my back. Lol! Keep up the good work. Be safe!
Hello thanks for vidéos! From a regular viesver Who lives on Réunion island a french overseas département néerlandais Mauritius, one Day come visit our gréât island !
Wow what an experience Paul, I'm half Mauritian so this video made me happy, if you are still in Mauritius right now I recommend trying the Mauritius Metro Express Tram system it's unbelievable and you'd love that, but do keep up the amazing videos and content you produce 👍
The business class food the entire rest of the world has on offer always makes me feel sad when I get in something like a DeltaOne flight, let alone domestic first class.
Another great trip about an airline you'd never see in North America. By the way I get the feeling that London video was from 1993-1994. It just looks so familiar from my first visit there as a kid in everyway.
@@Paul_Lucas I think it's from summer 2001, based on the completed Canary Wharf buildings that are visible at 11:33 (One Canada Square & HSBC tower), but just before Heron Quays station was closed for remodeling.

The poor IFE selection is ok on a short flight like this one but not great for long-haul - also it's annoying when the maps don't work. Rather have this side of things up to scratch than have proper cutlery.

Nice video Paul! Which airline did you take to South Africa?
That looks fancy, thank you for showing us around!

Air Mauritius, of course.
Awesome!
Air Mauritius does not have first class
@@BananaboiEdits 20 years ago it did!
Back in the day, when white-privilege was a given...
Yes, I liked the Flixbus video.
It's "Chicago Bulls." Basketball. "Red Bulls" are football/soccer in Leipzig, New York notably.
It's great to see the crew is not malicious and the food is delicious when flying Air Mauritius.
Malicious is an interesting word choice

I go to Mauritius most years, they still use the canisters
7:11 In-Flight Shopping or Internet. It’s refreshing to see a Contactless Terminal.
The best airline and aircraft I’ve been on
I haven't been to MAURITIUS since 1987...But IT WAS an amazing experience And Flying with LUFTHANSA on the AIRBUS A300-600..😍😍😍🤗🤗
Love the map animation showing the route, and great to see such an unusual destination documented.
Great work! ✈
Hi Paul welcome to my country. Hope you enjoy your flight with our A350 Pieter Both 🙂✈

I haven’t seen many Air Mauritius videos, but this seems fun!
That Flixbus video was an awesome watch 😊
I loved Mauritius, such a lovely country.
We flew premier class in 2007 to Mauritius it was wonderful the food was great
Love learning more about Air Mauritius. Its definitely on my top countries I want to visit soon. Thanks again for sharing!
The Flixbus video was awesome!
Windhoek Lager - takes me back to holidays to Namibia when my Dad worked there!

Looks like a fun trip, food looks good, nice review
Love you videos. Why do you touch the airplane and what's the "beep" - as you enter?
Thank you for video it was a treat after long day at work

Sounds very reasonable for a full service business class flight 3-4hrs
Great vlog as always Paul

10:49 Omg I love ‘Bones’ and ‘The Flash’!
So many A350's serving Jo'burg!!!
A beautifully designed aircraft the A350 and another brilliant video Paul ! 👍
Great vid as always! Was the contactless pad just a wireless charger pad?
Taking the same trip April 2025!!! excited already 👍🙏🍻
This was such fun as always! 👏🏽
Hi thanks for the content, what software do you use for editing?!
Love the A350.Great work

Five star coverage
ive just come home from there today, ive probaly just missed you!
Maybe the NFC scanner is to enable payment for Wi-Fi, which should be FOC in ANY Business Class on any airline.
What a great video yet again.
Nice to see proper cutlery and plates etc.So many airlines are doing away with that level of service.
Looks like you will have to give Dennis Bunnik and Jeff Brooks how to take a proper sip of champagne Paul. Nice video.
Did enjoy the Flixbus video. Very well done.
LOVE THE A350..😍😍😍
Great video Paul!😸

As a frequent flyer of Air Mauritius, I also do not know the purpose of those contactless payment modules lol
Thanks Paul that was a lovely video 👍 I live just a few KM from O R Tambo you probably flew over my house a couple of minutes after takeoff
Very Interesting video. Never been to that part of the world. Excellant service. Nice food. Worth the money.
Thank you Paul😀😀💚👌

What would you pay for during a flight? Duty free goods.
Would the pay app on the side of seat, be if you wanted to purchase Aftershave, etc etc, or has that stopped
Great flight
The London video that you were watching seemed like it was late 80s to maybe early 90s.
Maybe stick to buses going forward Paul 🤣🤣🤣 Kidding! Great vid. Also s/o to Chicago! Love to see it
The food looks good
Thanks Mate

11:11 It’s definitely late ‘90s. Atleast that’s what I think.
Great video , perhaps the touchpad may be for possible Duty free purchases 🤷♂️
damn just took the flight two weeks ago even with the same aircraft 😎shame I missed you

No Red, just Chicago Bulls. Red Bulls is the NYFC

Madagascar is in the throes of a major food crisis due to ongoing drought in the southern part of the island. One million people have been affected.
So nice 🙂🙂
Nice
Nice vlog 👌👌👌👌
The one thing you could be paying for in business class is duty free purchases.
My wife asks if with all your travelling you have ever caught COVID? Actually not such a dumb question! :-) Rob
Do more bus videos!
Paul,
You might have asked a flight attendant what those contactless areas
were for, you don't seem a shy person.

Wow only ~$400? That’s a really good deal
Business class no menu 1996 video of London lol what a shame
Try the BA lounge in Jo burg , its bloody Awful.
The London video is clearly from 1995
Our son and his family have just flown there from Gatwick on a ba 777 200
Sadly, Mango is also gone.
Chicago Redbulls 🤣
