This song is very emotional for me. Every time I hear it, I picture the scene below:
The first buildup at 0:45 sounds like you’re reminiscing old, nice memories. Then at 1:18, you’re crying tears of happiness at the good old times. Next at 1:47, you enter a phase of depression in your life because reality suddenly hits you and then your next 60 years of life goes by before you can even blink twice. Next, at 2:22 your depression hits its peak and you are barely holding on to your life. At 2:52 you even consider doing the unthinkable. Then, at 3:23, it all comes crashing down. You realize your life is almost over and you start reminiscing again over those same, old memories that aren’t quite as easy to remember now. Then, at 3:30, something jogs your memory and you start to remember those old memories and you realize you still have some time left to live your life and do the things you want to do, but it’s running out soon. At 3:44 you now completely remember that moment. That memory. Oh, it was so perfect. And then at 4:00 the nostalgia gets stronger and stronger until the point where its unbearable and you just HAVE to experience that same spark of joy you once did in that cherished memory of yours or you will never die happy, and then at 4:37 you’re just experiencing that old joy for the last time before you die.

Everything up to 1:47 feels like you’re just thinking about life. Then up to 1:52 you realize the drugs are kicking in and everything after 1:52 to 3:23 feels like you’re in that music video or movie where you’re the main character walking down a hall or house party full of people looking lost from the drugs kicking in 😂 then it’s back to thinking about life thinking the drug effects are done, 4:38 you realize the effects aren’t gone yet and you’re thinking about life still

This song brings back memories
He released this track on the same day of his homecoming show at the Roger's Centre in Toronto. UNFORGETTABLE experience.
2012 was a bad year. Mom's health was going downhill fast and I was stuck in a shit position of trying to be caretaker with no idea what I was doing all while severely depressed and pondering things that no person should consider.
Cue bumming HBO or one of those one night, and Deadmau5's concert pops up. I'd heard his tunes and loved em but not seen the show, so I put it on.
Something hit when this song started. All I can say is Joel, man, your tunes have helped me stay afloat even with what came after. Mom's passing, moving cross-country, coming out to family, everything that has tried to take me down, your music has been there for me.

When this track first got released... I was withdrawing massively from opiates. It got me through all the sleepless nights of pain... All the aches, restless legs, emotions, feeling like my nerves were on fire, headaches... I already had chills but these changed to chills from the absolute orgasmic vibes of this track. A smile was on my face... my endorphins kick started.
5 years have passed... here I am again... In the same position. I made mistakes again and I am in full withdrawal again... Listening to this on repeating and retracing my steps.

Well I aint amongst the people to get all philosophical, but whenever i listen to this track, i picture the song telling me something...Its something like this.
When it starts, all it says that a person is really upset and on the verge of giving up, he's really depressed....that shows the sad part of life.
When the buildup gets going, the person starts to gain faith in himself slowly,....that shows the positive part of life.
During the second drop, the person has so many problems yet he kinda feels happy and faces the problems slowly and continues to enjoy life.
Moral, Never Give Up.....aand its time for another drink :)
