I recently lost a dear friend to suicide. He had suffered from schizophrenia for 20 years and me and my family watched him deteriorate. He had been a part of our lives for almost 40 years. We all did what we could to help him but unfortunately he was unable to break free of his tormented dilutions. I think of all the pain he endured, the hard faught life he had. I have now listened to it 20+ times since his loss and uncontrollably cried almost every time. I love you Robin. And I will always miss you. Your brother, Stefan
Always loved this song. Tomorrow morning it’s my mom’s funeral. Listening to this in headphones in my bed gives me the strength I need for tomorrow. Thanks Deadmau5 ❤

On December 20th 2017, my friend Alex took his own life. Words cannot describe how great a friend he was to so many people. He had a huge heart and he shared it with everyone. I went days knowing I should feel sad and knowing I should feel a sense of loss, but I just didn't. Then, one day I was driving home and this song came on. I listened to this song a year ago, when i set out on my fitness journey, for my physical and mental health. Back then it had a feeling of mourning for me. I said to myself, "in a year, this will be a song of celebration!" 60 lbs. Down, muscle mass greatly increased, one year later, its celebration time, baby! WOOO!!!

My mom passed away on December 12th, 2021... She loved some of deadmau5's music and she knew I was a huge fan of him. I've been listening to him since I was a young kid, going back all the way to 2008. In fact, she bought me my first tickets to see him live during the cube V3 Tour back in 2019/2020. She knew how much I loved his music and how long I had wanted to see him live - she bought me a ticket to both of the shows he performed here in my city. I can't quite remember if I showed her this song (I'm nearly positive I did), but it reminds me of her... I miss her everyday and wish she was still here to watch me live out my life and grow...I'm only 24, I have a girlfriend now and we live together in the apartment we shared together, mom. Just like you were saying would be so cool if it were to happen someday! I know you spoke to her once over the phone, I wish you could've met her... My mom's favorite song by deadmau5 was Aural Psynapse. I'll be crying again (I cried the first time I saw him live back in 2019, lol) when I see him again this October, but this time, with my girlfriend! Thank you for your music, Joel. It still touches me in a way whenever I listen to a song by you. Thank you mom - for raising me and making me the man I am today... I will forever love you and miss you eternally...I wish you were still here with me. I love you.
You have something to offer this world and she would want you to share that! When you hear this music and it brings her back, she is there with you. So when you hear it, cry!!! Feel it!! Feel her.
I'm age 55 and suffer from severe complex post-traumatic stress disorder. I've been looking for any type of music that helps get me through wicked triggers brought about by my involvement in conflict...I never thought it would be something that today's generation calls "trance", yet I have found the music that soothes my subconsciously hallucinogenic and morally schizophrenic mind...it's called T-R-A-N-C-E.
...And here we have deadmau5. He specializes in using sound to send chills down your spine and blow your mind in ways you can't possibly describe. That concludes our tour and thanks again for choosing Mau5trap.
I feel the same, i can't explain how but something's weird about the current moment. It seems like we hear about bad things daily and the old times were much easier and happy to live. This song makes me thing about these old good times.
keep going..know that whatever happens to you is ment to happen be strong when all is lost and understand there is always a better day around the corner the scars only show how tough you are.
This song makes me feel like I'm Free. Truly Free. Heart wide open and Nothing but green mountains capped in blinding white marching to the horizons as far as I can see. I cant even remember the madness far behind me in this place. For 10 minutes I'm FREE! Thank you for this Joel.
Four years ago, I put Polaris on as my alarm clock, because the intro is soft and the sound rises gradually, allowing me to adapt my alarm clock to my form. Although I've been a Deadmau5 fan since I got my first MP3 and had access to all its wonders, I was sure that Polaris would one day become that wake-up music that makes me cringe when I hear it in the middle of the day. 4 years later, I still enjoy listening to it at any time in the day. Thank you Joel Thomas Zimmerman.
Umer Iftikhar if you haven’t already, join the deadmau5 reddit group. It’s the Best place on the internet for fans of him and his music, to this day he still posts on there and there is a great community of fans on there who help me discover more music like this song from Joel all the time.
I share the same story....I almost gave up but I made it through everything because of Deadmau5 - I would not be here today without it.....got me through my darkest hours of depression and isolation from the world.....My dream now is to see him live.....don't think ill get the chance though but I will have hope till the end....I just want to hear strobe played live :)
its the same rhythm for nearly 10 minutes, i cant believe how its not boring at all, how can i listen to this many many times over and over and it doesnt get boring at all, incredible Deserves to be named as Strobe 2.0
It's like a drug for me. If I listen to it after a long time, it has huge impact, gives me goosebumps and makes me cry out of beauty. Then I want to listen to it more, but the effect lessens. So I put it aside for a time only to come to it back again later. :)
I just love to look into the comments to see what everyone thought about the song. There are some very amazing comments, and there's even some touching comments. It's amazing to see how much deadmau5 has helped people get through hard times. His music taught me to not complain about everything in music today. To just sit back, and just listen to the music. For everyone who has been a long time deadmau5 fan, I commend all of you guys. You're truly one of the most phenomenal fan bases I've ever had the liberty to see in my life. Much love to all of you. :)
I had the honor of seeing seeing him perform this live. While most of the crowd was under the influence of something, I was not. All I can say is that this song put me on their level. Polaris reaches of level of melodic perfection that literally makes the brain produce the chemicals of happiness and euphoria.
Was declaring you were sober at the time really that important? Seems like bigotry: let's not structure phrases in a way that sound too retrograde pretty please, at least not under deadmau5's tracks yt videos.
I've been to three shows now, the best one was a small tent at Mardi Gras at like 1pm! All the booze was free and he opened with Fn Pig. My friend and I had mau5heads on so we ended up taking pictures with a ton of people and ended up on his social media 😊
Probably one of the most underrated deadmau5 tracks. I'd argue it's on a similar level as I Remember and Strobe in terms of powerful tracks with emotional melodies
@@Emanzz139 we want to find songs similar to this. unfortunately there is only one man who makes songs of this caliber so we are constantly waiting for the next masterpiece from the one called joel........
I found this song while I was in jail DUI. I spent 2 years locked away from the whole world. Friends... family... everyone. This song brought such peace to me when I found it. Fast forward to when I finally went home and I showed it to my mom a couple days after. I don't know if it's just because it's that good of a song, or if she hears this song and thinks of when she finally got her son back, or just simply a mixture of both. But every time the family is on the back porch listening to music and hanging out, at some point or another she will yell out "play polaris!" And we play it. And this 64 year old grandmother jams out for 10 minutes straight. And every single time, she tears up by the end of it. This song will always exemplify the very concept of "Hope" for me. Thank you for that Deadmau5. From the bottom of my heart.
@- ChaosRocket - I started screwing around in FL studio a few years ago and even just in that short time I have learned a lot about how artists like Joel create different sounds and atmospheres. The hardest part is learning the technical stuff like eqing, compression, effects, sound design, mixing as a whole is just a whole different animal when it comes to production.
this is one of those songs that makes you truly zone out and become 100% reflective and at the same time imaginative. phenomenal song. this is fucking art. this tune really gets you thinking man. god damn.
He is the best example of some one who knows nothing about music theory and by hits and errors is able to create such amazing harmonies, melodies and chords. An orchestra conductor would be surprised
Herbert Tchechel he's one of the smartest people in the technicalities of music, he can do so much, just chooses to do what he likes. He's a true artist
I have waited for years for Deadmau5 to return to this sound (the one that is characteristic of tracks like "I Remember", Hybrid - "Finished Symphony (Deadmau5 Remix)", and "Strobe") and he finally managed to make a song of that caliber again! So happy I ran across this legit track! That melody is killer as fuck! And it's not too short like a lot of house music tracks are today. If a song takes 10 minutes to end, that usually means there's something worth waiting for!
Im even listening to "really hard metal stuff" - for f... 20 years Still "some" of his songs like this one i have to listen to from time to time. "Thats something" - he is not only a gem in the EDM Industry - he is imho a musical Genius.
Just recently found deadmau5. Usually I listen to rock from the 70's and jazz, but this is also great! Nice to know that good music is still made, haha
Listening to long trance tracks such as this one when stoned is honestly, seriously, sincerely, a magical experience. You start imagining a tale the song tells you, you can literally feel and see the music and almost taste it.
I hope not everyone comes for this track only (and maybe "bad at titles" too). This whole album is a total masterpiece. And why would I want someone missing out on that?
+Swedberg Yeah but if you look at the views on this it is over 10K while on one of the songs is Under 2k. A lot of people came here only for Polaris and Bad At Titles
Durrant Miller so? noone is asking you guys to to be some kind of equal rights activists for a music album xD why does it matter what people decide to listen to anyway?
I've listened to most of deadmau5's stuff over the years and really love his music. This one however...I'm going to give it the highest praise I can. And that doesn't mean just for deadmau5, and that doesn't mean just for EDM. It means everything - all genres. This is the EDM equivalent of music's finest across the board. "Chariots of Fire" for avant-garde\ambient. "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina" from theater. "The Sound of Silence" from Simon and Garfunkel for folk rock. "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin for classic rock. Last but not least - Beethoven's Symphony #9 for classical. That's where you stand buddy, alongside those, for this stellar breakout. The only thing missing now is the stamp on this masterpiece that reads "This work has been deemed culturally, historically or aesthetically significant and is earmarked for preservation by the Library of Congress". This is one of those greatest things that makes life worth living. Thank you so much.
To be fair I think that's more electronic pop dubstep hybrid, but that's just me, all that crap kids listen to these days has ti be dubstep or something, cuz I like electronic and that don't sound like it
I've been a deadmau5 fan since i was little and every track he's produced has never failed. this song is that emotional to me that i can't listen to it or ill burst. sounds weird but this song really hits me in the feels
One thing about Deadmau5 that really impresses me throughout all of his work is that the most powerful parts of his track are often the parts where the drums drop completely out and leave us with pure feeling
Instead of relying on a 'beat' like a lot of other producers, most of the effort goes into melodies, harmonies, and general sound design. Makes a big difference
I agree..I think when they have made a fair amount from their music, they start to loose track (hur hur) and get caught up in the bullshit..Start to sound samey, loose the passion! Start knocking out to the masses or easily pleased fans. Has anybody heard Clarks latest stuff..Niiice!
Just wanna say this tune helps nerves and sadness. My mom has dementia and her mind is almost gone. When i played this for her the other day she said it was one of the most beautiful things she's ever heard. Live ur lifes to the fullest people were only here so long. 🔈🔈🔉🎶
Strange how deadmau5's music affects people. For example, I find this music quite uplifting despite its a bit melancholic atmosphere, which my gf finds too sad. Reading the comments, I found people whom this music or particularly this track found relief in their grief, and I read comments about real enjoyment, and energy boosts, and I didn't have to swipe too far. In my opinion there are few electronic music artists who can achieve this type of influence of connecting people in the best way. God bless you all ❤️
So called "melodic techno" has often been rooted in minor scales, historically. How chords are used, and what notes constitute the melodies is often how a so called "sad key" can sound a bit upbeat. There are also various modes available that can overlap with a simple key and chord form, and some of them will entirely change the overall vibe of a song. (Seriously, test the idea. Take a simple 4 chord pattern and play every variation of a mode that seemingly overlaps with the basic chords. I like to joke that I can play phrygian mode on anything...sometimes lol. What makes deadmau5 a bit unique I think: is his timing onto the scene, and also his devotion to minimalism and nerd level audio engineering. The gimmick of the psychedelic mouse helmet also helps lol, yet that is just a bonus.
A lot of comments tell us a story that's very emotional, I think this track describes hard times in a way, the sad, hopeless feeling, followed by a unexplainable powerfull energy flowing out in your veins from a very deep place in yourself, almost as if the soul tries to push you trough, the conflict between choosing tp give up or fumble in darkness, you somehow fumbled until you reached the end of the endless tunnel and made it trough, and now looking back wondering where and how you got the strength to pull trough. Never give up peeps
I've been using my Ion speaker alot. Used to play my types of music at my last job. They never heard of such sounds. I played trance, rolling stones, thousand foot krutch, deadmau5, dragonforce, Linkin Park, (50s-2000s best hits EVER) etc. Almost surprises me how many people today are living under a rock listening to kevin gates or lil pump/ autotune "music" and calling it "rap". It's horrible. Walk This Way and Devil Went Down to Georgia inspired it. Either makes me feel one of a kind or makes me wish I wasn't in this era at all. Feels like I'm a ghost, but everywhere I go, my positive energy will outweigh their negative everytime. When I leave, they always wanted me back.
Really great, everything sits so nicely together, and the sound and the harmonies are just awesome. I think I hear a Jupiter 8 playing these divine chords. Truly a mau5terpiece.
I am gonna be honest. This song moves me more than any other song I have ever listened to. Every emotion you feel is just encapsulated by the wonderful aura and warmth of the pads. Definitely my favorite Deadmau5 song of all time. Thank you Joel
I love to study with deadmau5 music hours after hours, days after days over and over... This music is perfect to study! It's helping me to concentrate and at the same time it releases a positive vibe... I'll get that Bachelor Degree with the best grades!💪🏻🔥
If Mozart, Bach, Vivali or any one of humanity's classical music composers woke up from the dead and listened to this track, I can only imagine that they would unanimously hold great respect for the artist whom was responsible for creating this masterpiece. They would unquestionably consider this man as one of their peers.
This song takes me back to the 7 years I spent as a DJ. That whole experience being wrapped up into one song. This song. That is how I describe the feeling this song gives me.
I found my way back to the Mau5. Fan since 2008 and had the pleasure of seeing him at Ultra 2013. Took a long break from electronic music but I'm back and lovin it 😍😍😍
Welcome back. I also came back after a few years. You came back in time to see the master rise up once again. Seriously such a masterpiece of a song. NO ONE BETTER!
The intro is so powerful and it leads into this beautiful yet dancey song. I thought he said he was reworking the song completely when he got the Neve? Maybe he changed his mind. AND the outro is deadmau5 we haven't heard for a long time.
man, as someone who saw the birth of Deadmau5 along with many others, when and why did we lose this lush sounds and compositions? clubbing and raving to music like this was mental.

This song makes you feel like you've finally found what your heart was searching for
like, most EDM without words has so much meaning and emotion with just sounds
When you stop searching for that big heavy drop and feel the music like this track encourages you to. The music really does come alive!
Exactly! And makes you wanna be a batter person, and connect to the world and family and friends!

Agreed, sometimes (and in this case in spades) the simplest things are the most unique.
Well it uses two of my favorite pieces of music gear so I certainly can't complain 😉
Said it before and I'll say it again: Many are top tier producers but when it comes to melodies, Deadmau5 has no equal.
He has one, Armin van Buuren is equal. Listen to "Mirage".

I love you.
RIP glad you shared that connection to music with her
Bruder, bleib in Ordnung !!!!
Stay strong man! And keep love to this great music. Music is the greatest art invented by people.
You have something to offer this world and she would want you to share that! When you hear this music and it brings her back, she is there with you. So when you hear it, cry!!! Feel it!! Feel her.

the new Polaris
if only that tune was in spotify... Joel's best tune ever to me!
DFF wormi hopefully the whole album'll be there soon.
Mike Preston-Engel you are loved
You're not alone Mike
the trance community is with you mike
Mike, I wish you peace of mind and a quick recovery
I hope you get better. I suggest you go listen to Strobe. It's my favorite song ever.
This song makes me feel free, motionless and emotionally stable, so much beauty

Hope you’re doing well

This song is a masterpiece of modern music. It’s so well done.
It is! This Melody...
I think of scarface when I hear this song with those early 80s synths so badass

Synth wave at its finest
One of the BEST songs that he has done EVER
For me is Brazil

This makes me tear up. The world sucks now. This brings me back to a simpler time
I was looking for this comment. I know how you feel 😔🤜🤛😔
Thank you for this Joel.
stop crying like a bitch..life is what you make of it..if you"feel" like shit it is on you.
cant explain how I love this one
one word, #deadmau5
The way he keeps adding more and more stuff after each bar; Sublime.
Thats progressive house for ya
Four years ago, I put Polaris on as my alarm clock, because the intro is soft and the sound rises gradually, allowing me to adapt my alarm clock to my form. Although I've been a Deadmau5 fan since I got my first MP3 and had access to all its wonders, I was sure that Polaris would one day become that wake-up music that makes me cringe when I hear it in the middle of the day.
4 years later, I still enjoy listening to it at any time in the day.
Thank you Joel Thomas Zimmerman.

I share the same story....I almost gave up but I made it through everything because of Deadmau5 - I would not be here today without it.....got me through my darkest hours of depression and isolation from the world.....My dream now is to see him live.....don't think ill get the chance though but I will have hope till the end....I just want to hear strobe played live :)
its the same rhythm for nearly 10 minutes, i cant believe how its not boring at all, how can i listen to this many many times over and over and it doesnt get boring at all, incredible
Deserves to be named as Strobe 2.0
It's like a drug for me. If I listen to it after a long time, it has huge impact, gives me goosebumps and makes me cry out of beauty. Then I want to listen to it more, but the effect lessens. So I put it aside for a time only to come to it back again later. :)
the base line yes it thumps so satisfyingly with the drums
this is better than strobe
@@kannix386 don't you say that ahahah i love strobe!
it's mostly because the arp melody is playing an unusual time signature/ rhythm so it's hard for our brains to catch where it really loops back ahaha
I had the honor of seeing seeing him perform this live. While most of the crowd was under the influence of something, I was not. All I can say is that this song put me on their level. Polaris reaches of level of melodic perfection that literally makes the brain produce the chemicals of happiness and euphoria.
your not the only one with the same idea, just that i have not seen him live yet hahas
Was declaring you were sober at the time really that important? Seems like bigotry: let's not structure phrases in a way that sound too retrograde pretty please, at least not under deadmau5's tracks yt videos.
Music is the greatest extacy
I've been to three shows now, the best one was a small tent at Mardi Gras at like 1pm! All the booze was free and he opened with Fn Pig. My friend and I had mau5heads on so we ended up taking pictures with a ton of people and ended up on his social media 😊
Probably one of the most underrated deadmau5 tracks. I'd argue it's on a similar level as I Remember and Strobe in terms of powerful tracks with emotional melodies
Do you know any music that similar to this?
100% man this songs a masterpiece just like strobe and I remember

FULL OF HARMONY!
Where is the crowd noise?
Deadmau5 and Pryda are two Kings of electro for me
Madeon and Zedd are also excellent.
Yotto too :)
exactly !
Those are the 2 kings of classic progressive house.
But every time the family is on the back porch listening to music and hanging out, at some point or another she will yell out "play polaris!"
And we play it. And this 64 year old grandmother jams out for 10 minutes straight. And every single time, she tears up by the end of it.
This song will always exemplify the very concept of "Hope" for me. Thank you for that Deadmau5. From the bottom of my heart.
Finally a nice return to the origins.
My favourite song is still faxing berlin tho so agree 100%
this sounds like future sound of london
too much treble

Well Joel has his skull now. Dunno how to feel about that
Only hearing this for the first time today. So many emotions, I love what music can make us feel.
This man is a Musical Genius
For sure
@- ChaosRocket - The best way to learn is to listen my friend.
I wouldn't say anyone is a genius but he is definitely good at what he does
@@kierimrie2404 Why is there the term genius then? You don't need to call him a genius, but there are geniuses or were.
this is one of those songs that makes you truly zone out and become 100% reflective and at the same time imaginative. phenomenal song. this is fucking art. this tune really gets you thinking man. god damn.
Totally agree
The bit where the beat kicks in is *easily* the best part of this song. Insanely addictive.
Unexpectedly emotional
Awe! I’m crying. The power that frequencies in music has man...connects with the frequencies within ourselves.

Victorius yup

it's not a present. It's a blessing.
Whats the difference??
JC, you back for the Rapture or just fresh beats?
This track has a polished, pure and exquisitely crafted sound. Nothing is placed there randomly, it has a purpose and that will make it last in time.
He is the best example of some one who knows nothing about music theory and by hits and errors is able to create such amazing harmonies, melodies and chords. An orchestra conductor would be surprised
The only theory he goes by, IF IT SOUNDS GOOD AND IT WORKS WELL, IT STAYS A PART OF THE SONG...
wait a moment. He knows nothing about music theory? that must have changed surely lol
He definitely understands music theory. To the point where he can deconstruct it the way thelonius monk did..
Matthew McRee his Finished Symphony remix is still his best song by far
Matthew McRee who
exactly, as a trancer I like melodies and melodic mau5 is the best
Matthew McRee finished symphony probably one of his greatest achievements

"Thats something" - he is not only a gem in the EDM Industry - he is imho a musical Genius.
Not just yours, but mine as well Modern Day Mozart

Just recently found deadmau5. Usually I listen to rock from the 70's and jazz, but this is also great! Nice to know that good music is still made, haha
Same here man
Good music is everywhere my man
Just look beyond what you see in front of you
Listening to long trance tracks such as this one when stoned is honestly, seriously, sincerely, a magical experience. You start imagining a tale the song tells you, you can literally feel and see the music and almost taste it.
Lie back, headphones on, Pure bliss....... Keep 'em coming, Joel.
I feel this song is like a story. It has a sad beginning, but a promising and triumphant build-up leading to happiness.
Well said
I hope not everyone comes for this track only (and maybe "bad at titles" too). This whole album is a total masterpiece. And why would I want someone missing out on that?
if you havent noticed, all the tracks have comments praising them,
and what do you have to do with others taste in music lel
OfficialURL Man, this volume is good as the others
+Swedberg Yeah but if you look at the views on this it is over 10K while on one of the songs is Under 2k. A lot of people came here only for Polaris and Bad At Titles
sad but very true
Could not agree with you more.

my all time fav DeadMau5 track.
This is what eectronic music is, not some lit festival 3 2 1 drop shit
Yeah wish more of it was like this instead.
why not both?
To be fair I think that's more electronic pop dubstep hybrid, but that's just me, all that crap kids listen to these days has ti be dubstep or something, cuz I like electronic and that don't sound like it
@Chris G agreed, there both good
yeah, agree! :D
People: "it's almost impossible for artists today to stay consistently great."
Deadmau5: "hold my beer"
The thing is though that this is an older song that got finished now.
JAJA! i'll stole this thought...
I agree..I think when they have made a fair amount from their music, they start to loose track (hur hur) and get caught up in the bullshit..Start to sound samey, loose the passion! Start knocking out to the masses or easily pleased fans. Has anybody heard Clarks latest stuff..Niiice!
Deadmau5 is not consistently great, the last good album was >album title here< from 2012.
For lack or a better name
I love that people from all different generations love the music Deadmau5 creates.
Best 9.45mins you will spend in your life
Just wanna say this tune helps nerves and sadness. My mom has dementia and her mind is almost gone. When i played this for her the other day she said it was one of the most beautiful things she's ever heard. Live ur lifes to the fullest people were only here so long. 🔈🔈🔉🎶
Why does this song bring ALL the feels!?!?!?
Strange how deadmau5's music affects people. For example, I find this music quite uplifting despite its a bit melancholic atmosphere, which my gf finds too sad. Reading the comments, I found people whom this music or particularly this track found relief in their grief, and I read comments about real enjoyment, and energy boosts, and I didn't have to swipe too far. In my opinion there are few electronic music artists who can achieve this type of influence of connecting people in the best way. God bless you all ❤️
I feel the Same !!!
You looked way too far into it!
I feel you buddy lol bit deep but yeah your right. 👌🏻
Pure poetry.
I feel you. You are such a imaginative person. Well-said
*hugs* this is exactly what i went through!
Such an incredible masterpiece that gives such nostalgic vibes.
For real.
The drop at 6:33 makes me feel like a loved one is telling me everything will be ok
Yeah it's pure bliss. It's like bumping into an old friend you haven't seen in years in a strange location.
You can not skip the build up holy shit and you need headphones for this one
I'm listening to this without headphones. I can't wait until I can get access to some headphones and listen to this again, though.
@DADOU OMÉGA Those are the rock dwellers
I’m off my fucking tits 🥳😍🥳😍🥳
One of his best songs imo. Absolute masterpiece
This feels like the song that would be playing in the background while having the best night of your life with your favorite people in the world.
Really great, everything sits so nicely together, and the sound and the harmonies are just awesome. I think I hear a Jupiter 8 playing these divine chords. Truly a mau5terpiece.
While I think he does have a Jupiter 8, he almost never uses it in his productions. The synth he uses most often is Serum.

The intro is so powerful and it leads into this beautiful yet dancey song. I thought he said he was reworking the song completely when he got the Neve? Maybe he changed his mind. AND the outro is deadmau5 we haven't heard for a long time.
kungfutyla neve = new year's Eve, deadmau5 saved it for it
