This is a new song that Deadmau5 has been working on lately. After uploading a 3 minute preview that he put on his SoundCloud ( • Deadmau5 - Drop the Po... , he decided to change the instrumental of the song. He changed the instrumental to a new progressive house style track that's based off of the song, "Arcadia." ( • Deadmau5 - Arcadia / R... ) This is that result.
The singer is Colleen D'Agostino (aka Colleen Moreaux)
This audio is pulled from one of his streams. At one point in the stream, he says "F*ck it, I'm just gonna play it all the way through for you guys." This is the song that followed.
Joel says that when the song is released it will most likely be around 16 minutes long! Expect this to be on his 2014 album.

I read an article about how the lyrics were created. It really shows how beautiful this song really is.

“A couple years ago I was playing at The Roxy with my former rock band The Material, and some of the mau5trap records family was there. After my set, they suggested I write some topline to a few deadmau5 instrumentals, but I honestly didn’t think he would ever hear them. During the time I was writing for the deadmau5 tracks, I was going through a lot of personal stuff. I was visiting my Dad in the hospital who was dying, and all of the pain, sadness, love, frustration and anger came together in the lyrics that eventually became “Stay”, or as Joel originally called it “Drop the Poptart”. I emailed the vocals to Joel, and the next thing I knew, he was building a new instrumental for the song and posting clips on SoundCloud. Apparently it resonated with him and his fans, because it received an overwhelming positive response (thanks guys!), and I signed to mau5trap records shortly after.
A year later after my Dad passed away, I asked Joel if we could give “Stay” an official release on my upcoming EP “Collide”, because the song meant so much to me. After the EP came out this past March, I was thinking of releasing an acoustic arrangement for one of the songs, and “Stay” was the obvious choice. A few amazing and talented friends of mine came together to record and film this studio session and I’m so thankful for the opportunity to show the world the way that this song sounds in my head. It’s purposely not perfectly tuned or flawless, but it captures the raw and real emotion of this song that I wrote for my dad.”

I didn't realize the audio glitch was from this video alone, but honestly I thought it was a creative choice. When listening to this song, I imagine speaking to a loved on a hospital bed, near deaths door and the sudden cut is just like real life. People die mid sentence, it's always sudden and unplanned and the sudden cut in audio feels just like that... Especially the lyrics in that moment, "breath it in now, then breath it out, let the air flow over me, up high can you tell me what you see, this life is it more than just a dream, look at me now, then look-" All I imagine is lying in hospital, air mask over face, a pleading daughter telling her dad to keep breathing, she knows he's on his last moment but please, dad, look at me, look- and he's gone.

The feeling and mood this song gives me is indescribable, it makes me feel like crying tears of happiness and sadness at the same time, and it’s one of the only songs I’ll ever sing to. Colleen’s emotions can really be felt and I love it. Reading the backstory is extremely sad, but it really helps to understand the emotions you can feel when listening. I feel like I’ve experienced something, not just listened to another song, and I love that deadmau5 could never finish it, because it shows even he couldn’t end such an amazing song.
