As a Mother myself, I can’t imagine not having a good relationship with him as there is nothing I love more than my son. You can never explain to a 7 year old boy why it was better to abandon him in a boarding school than keep him close. He could see his parents on TV seemingly having a ball while he sat in a facility like a dog they gave away because they didn’t feel like walking it. I see how this caused him endless emotional pain and left a scar so deep that it may never heal.

People think love is being forced to agree with every single decision they make. And if you don't agree, most people just keep it to themselves and distance themselves. I don't know how a parent could do that. You don't have to agree with every decision. Like who they choose to marry or what occupation they choose. But you still should stand by your child NO MATTER WHAT. Even if they choose to change their gender. Even if they choose to marry the same gender. Even if they decide not to make us a grandparent with the choice of not having kids. It is our job as parents to love them no matter what. To show affection and be there always. Tell them how you feel and communicate. But don't cut them out of life just because you don't agree with their life style. Always raise them the best you can and be the best example. Teach them love and morals! And let them know that you love them no matter what and will be there until the end!

As a huge Deadsy fan, Elijah is musical royalty. Son of Cher, Gregg and nephew of the godfather of Southern Rock, Duane Allman. I wish Deadsy stayed together because, to me, they had the It factor and great tunes. Elijah had an uphill climb dealing with his mother and father, who both often made bad life choices. Best thing for him was boarding school rather than being in that toxic Hollywood lifestyle. That’s why he is soberly under the radar now living his best life out of the media. I hope he is well.

It's also impossible to overstate the damage that not believing your child is physically ill will do to that child. His mother appears to be very controlling. She could have been supportive of him rather than putting him on permanent disregard. Boarding school at such a young age obviously wasn't the right choice for him either. Each of us are unique, so comparisons to others who have done well in similar circumstances is pointless. These are his experiences and the consequences of his experiences are uniquely his. Hopefully his relationship with his mother improves.

Elijah’s health picture from a young age mirrors my own..immune system dysfunction is something unfortunate..especially when your parent is healthy and sees discomfit and chronic fatigue as an excuse a sign of weakness and something to just get over. Cher’s son Chaz struggled with dyslexia from a young age. With anyone, it’s hard to be the child of a self focused parent.

Cher attempted to re- kindled by dragging her son on tour with her in the 90s after calling Greg & begging him to convince Elijah to agree to the tour. So there have definitely been times with both of her children where she could have been there for them better than she was. Ultimately she’s what we in behavioral medicine call a “self-oriented parent” which I guess is pretty self-explanatory.

Unfortunatey, our culture has forgotten that you can love someone enough to keep them close even if you have talked to them about what you feel have been harmful choices. It's called LOVE when you don't just blow your top and give up on others, even if you think they are wrong.

People think love is being forced to agree with every single decision they make. And if you don't agree, most people just keep it to themselves and distance themselves. I don't know how a parent could do that. You don't have to agree with every decision. Like who they choose to marry or what occupation they choose. But you still should stand by your child NO MATTER WHAT. Even if they choose to change their gender. Even if they choose to marry the same gender. Even if they decide not to make us a grandparent with the choice of not having kids. It is our job as parents to love them no matter what. To show affection and be there always. Tell them how you feel and communicate. But don't cut them out of life just because you don't agree with their life style. Always raise them the best you can and be the best example. Teach them love and morals! And let them know that you love them no matter what and will be there until the end!

Maybe thought they needed a catchy title - Cher looking like Cleopatra and Sonny presumably Julius Caesar. Best moment in their 1970’s variety show was right after the FCC ruled that “no more than half a breast nipple could be shown on TV” and Cher came out with a dress that purposely showed half a nipple.

Yes, I was aware of Cher & Greg's son Elijah Blue. Glad Elijah made amends with his father before Greg passed on.
As a huge Deadsy fan, Elijah is musical royalty. Son of Cher, Gregg and nephew of the godfather of Southern Rock, Duane Allman. I wish Deadsy stayed together because, to me, they had the It factor and great tunes.
Elijah had an uphill climb dealing with his mother and father, who both often made bad life choices. Best thing for him was boarding school rather than being in that toxic Hollywood lifestyle. That’s why he is soberly under the radar now living his best life out of the media. I hope he is well.

It is impossible to overstate the damage that boarding schools do to adolescents.
I went to boarding school my whole adolescence- it’s fine.
It's also impossible to overstate the damage that not believing your child is physically ill will do to that child. His mother appears to be very controlling. She could have been supportive of him rather than putting him on permanent disregard. Boarding school at such a young age obviously wasn't the right choice for him either. Each of us are unique, so comparisons to others who have done well in similar circumstances is pointless. These are his experiences and the consequences of his experiences are uniquely his. Hopefully his relationship with his mother improves.

I saw Cher and Gene Simmons when I went to see the play Annie, on Broadway back in the late 70s early 80s. They were sitting a couple rows behind me. This was back when Gene Simmons didn't want anyone to see him without his Kiss makeup on. So he had some kind of cloth mask covering his face that really made him stand out. Just a little bit of useless history I thought I would share!

Allman was highly respected as a Southern Rock and Blues Icon. Cher was a total adult pop sellout. Her only serious credible recordings were her early releases with Sonny, who penned all their biggest hits.
Cher was an unknown sessions backup singer for Phil Specter, still in her teens, when Sonny took her under his wing and made a star out of her. By the time they divorced, the duo had lost most of their initial popularity. She went solo, and Sonny continued to produce and write songs for her, but shifted to focus on marketing to the older generation, and the Las Vegas and Hollywood audience. She became a huge TV star, and although she gained a greater level of fame and fortune, TV killed whatever credibility she had left as a serious artist.
Needless to say, Greg's short marriage and collaboration with Cher totally ruined his previous impeccable reputation as a serious artist. It took over a decade for Greg to recover his musical chops and reputation after he ended his deleterious relation with Cher.
I knew about Elijah, but I thought he been leaning more towards his fathers people down South. NO idea that Cher sent the kid away to school.
What I would really like to know is what Elijah did with everyone’s money when they ordered merch from his Deadsy store. He kept pushing the release date back over and over… till one day the store disappears. No communication, he just took off with the money everyone sent.

Elijah’s health picture from a young age mirrors my own..immune system dysfunction is something unfortunate..especially when your parent is healthy and sees discomfit and chronic fatigue as an excuse a sign of weakness and something to just get over. Cher’s son Chaz struggled with dyslexia from a young age. With anyone, it’s hard to be the child of a self focused parent.

Cher kicked Chas out when Chas came out of the closet around 14 yrs old. Chas went to live with her conservative dad. Both Cher's husbands were republicans, strange enough. Hollywood agents convinced her to get on board with the alphabet community. Cher did not prefer Chas over Elijah. Elijah got the hell away from Hollywood as soon as he was able to make his own decision. Cher attempted to re- kindled by dragging her son on tour with her in the 90s after calling Greg & begging him to convince Elijah to agree to the tour. See how "happy" Elijah was in that tour footage.
Thats the trouble with those celebrities having children they dont want to be real parents to. They cant give up the self centered attention seeking life style. No child wants to see their mother dressing in skimpy clothes dancing around on a stage acting like a teenager. 🙄 That poor boy! These celebrities need to grow up. The boarding school Elijah went to is in my hometown of Bath, Me. My parents tried to send me there (a a punishment ) but they weren't poor enough. Your family has to be wicked rich or wicked poor to send a kid there...mostly rich.

Well she didn’t always support Chaz either. When Chaz first came out as a lesbian way back when, Cher had a problem and didn’t speak to him for some time.
And then again later on when Chaz came out as a trans man, it also took some time for Cher to come around.
So there have definitely been times with both of her children where she could have been there for them better than she was.
Ultimately she’s what we in behavioral medicine call a “self-oriented parent” which I guess is pretty self-explanatory.

My besti friend married Greg Alman a very short lived marriage They had a son named Grey . After she and Greg split up she had to move back to our home town to her parents for awhile , having the baby . I’m not sure if Grey ever knew his father either. I do not even know if these half brothers know one another, I lost contact with that friend of mine too
