G'day ken, cheers for the videos been watching them in preparation for my own trip. was wondering how easy it was for you to get around the island? cheers
Thanks for watching. It's very easy to get around the island using public transport like buses. You need to be happy to do some research on your own, but I think overall there is no issue. After all thats how many of the non-cruise visitors do it.
Hi Ken, thank you very much for the video and all the information! We are going to take the same cruise this summer, and thinking to book somewhere in Fira to have dinner. When did you go to the queue for the cable car? I’m worried it will be too late after the sunset. Also did you need to make a reservation for the place where you had the drink? Or did you just walk in? Thank you!
We just walked in, although when you first arrived at Fira, you could go to restaurant you want and reserve a table for later. I think it's ok to finish the sunset and then get the cable car. I think the return to ship time is as late as 10:30. If you finish around 8:30, the queue should not be more than an hour, so I think it's fine. You'll see many others on the same ship queuing for the cable car, so that should give you some confidence. Thanks for watching. Please consider subscribing and check out all the other videos about this cruise!
Hi Ken, for the spot to watch the sunset, do you need to make a reservation prior? Is Lithos restaurant the name as I can read behind you?. I will be arriving Santorini next week
We were planning to make a reservation, but we didn’t and we just checked with each restaurant. The one we went to, they were not keen at first to give us a table just for a couple of drinks, but then they realised we would be gone in less than an hour and the restaurant wasn’t full yet, so he let us in. It was a win-win.
Looks like you made effective use of time, will have to consider your route. I am also considering a boat to OIA and walking back to Fira for sunset, have you any experience doing that?
Thanks. I wouldn’t consider walking from Oia to Fira. That would take a really long time. For the amount of time you’ve got at this port, it wouldn’t be great use of your time. Much easier to just use their public bus. 🚎
We are going on the same trip next year, looking forward to it ❤just very nervous about getting lots on the trail.what do you recommend .is ok to walk around by ourselves?thank you
You can take a boat, but it only takes you to Ammoudi, where you have a steep climb to get up to Oia. Oia and Fira are all at the top of the "volcano", so there is no way round. Thanks for watching the video!
Hi Ken, I am enjoying your videos. Are you aware if there is another way of getting to Oia from the cruise port other than the cable car or the donkey to Fira then on to Oia? Thanks
Thank you, I am glad you're enjoying the videos. I think I read that if you book certain excursions, then you will go on a different tender boat to a different pier, where you board a coach directly. Other viewers may be able to confirm that. This is of course way more expensive, and you will be restricted by the timetable of the excursion, so it's only really recommended if you don't like the cabin car or donkey options.
@@KenTravels360 Thanks so much for your prompt response. I am finding it quite confusing as to where to catch the bus and find our way around. In Fira you mentioned that to catch the bus you - opposite the Museum of Prehistoric Thera. On the return journey - do we just retrace our steps and catch the bus at the same stops? If you have a better plan, please share. Much appreciated
Yes, just retrace the steps on your return, and you will be back at the cable car station, which is also where the donkeys are. It may sound confusing, but once you are there, it will look a lot more obvious.
This was a great video!! Did you do my time dining on this ship, or did you have a set time for dinner each night? It seems difficult to predict what time would be best for dinner with each port.
Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed it. We chose set time 6pm - it worked the best for us, as there were always so many shows, disco, parties, karaoke to go to (see my previous video: ruclips.net/video/o6WnGkgA0UY/видео.html ). As the ship left most ports around 5pm, that worked out brilliantly and then for the one night (Santorini) when we couldn't make the main dining room dinner, we just did Windjammer that day. We didn't want dining to restrict our touring in Santorini.
What do you think of our DIY selfie tour of Santorini? Isn't Oia beautiful? Leave a comment here to let me know your thoughts.
lovely to see it all again, we had a great day there.
Definitely!
Love your content.
Glad you enjoy it! Thanks for watching!
Love Santorini. Great video! Thanks!

Yes it’s fine. Lots of people were doing the same.
Great video with lots of useful information. Would taking a boat to Oia more feasible and then bus to Fira and cable car ride down to the port?

Hi Ken, great videos. We’re going on the same cruise next year. Do you remember what time you got back to the ship on this excursion?
We got back around 9 so just in time to have dinner at Windjammer buffet. Thanks for watching!
Hi ken, thank you so much to answer all my questions ❤
You're so welcome. Enjoy your cruise!

What kind of camera you used for the aerial videos?
I used insta 360 one x2 and a long selfie stick to capture that.

What time did you have to get back on the ship?
I think it was 10:30 or 11pm. Most cruisers would want to return a bit earlier than that!
Ken, with tender 25 in Santorini at which hour (approximately) did you disembarked from ship??
It was around 2pm. The earlier you could go get the tender tickets, the better. I think before 0830 would be great, in retrospect.
How long does it take to walk to the top ❤thank you ❤
You mean instead of using the cable car or mules? It would be at least half an hour. It would be exhausting in the summer.
@@KenTravels360thank you so much
Is it easy to spot the busses in Fira to take you to Oiu?
Thanks for watching. When you are at the bus station, just ask the staff which is the next bus to Oia. That's what we did.
Does the tender boat ticket has a cost? How do I collect them than you! 💕
No the tickets are free, you just have to go to where they say they will be distributed to collect.
Does the Mule Rides accept credit card or cash only?
They take cash only. Preferably euros.
