It feels like watching a movie version of playing the game - Having conversations with expressionless NPC, lol. I would have never imagined a show like that until seeing this and now I'm all for it. Need more of this.

The AI sounds great but it sounds too flat imo. There are ways of adjusting how you type the lines to give the audio a “performance”

@@FalloutLanius it’s a matter of spelling, punctuation and capitalization. Also if you lower the stability the AI adds more variation to the emphasis

So you guys are switching to AI voices... Honestly, Idk if that's the right move. I don't think that any of us, even as longterm fans of Lanius, would be opposed to your actors using their actual voices. The VAs of Graham and Caesar depicted the roles and mindsets of much older and calloused characters. If this is indeed an intuitively canonical prequel, why not use younger or just different voice actors? With the AI, it seems pretty uncanny, and not necessarily in a good way. This does come off as a bit more of a fanfic read by AI voices than a genuine story trying to be told, which the Fallout Lanius team is 100% capable of doing... Idk, just my thoughts
They said it was dialogue from their original scripts, so it might not be totally AI voiced.
Thanks very much for your feedback and thoughts. The biggest challenge for working with real performers is the cost and time - as a no budget fan team, we're doing our best with the tools available. And even using AI tools cost us money. Totally agree about the age of their voices, but again, it's just a matter of working with the resources we have. Thank you again!
The AI voices leave them with a flat affect, they are not emoting their lines. I'd rather have a hobbyist voice actor put their emotion into the work than an AI soullessly stealing the work of the original voice actors.
@@CyrusGuderyon Thank you for the feedback, Cyrus. As much as we love working with amateur actors, we're really trying to experiment with new technology to see what we can create. The biggest challenge with this kind of material are costs and timelines. We absolutely agree that AI reproduced voice work is far less impactful than a talented voice artist.
@@FalloutLanius dont let the haters get to you. i'm gonna get shit for this but some people who call themselves "starving artists" don't actually know what it's like to have a burning desire to build something with literally no resources. some of us have fallen on super hard times, but rely on the passion of creativity and creation to get us through. AI may not have been developed ethically but nothing is these days. boycotting doesn't work, only direct action will. may as well use the tools the enemy has created in order to continue adapting to their will and control without losing our minds and what makes us creative individuals if this is what it takes to produce outreaching thought-provoking content like this, and the original voice actors aren't reaching out and asking the creator to not use their voices, i for one am in favor of the technology's USE, even if it's corporate development isn't favorable.
My favorite thing about this video is that it perfectly captures how naive Joshua was when he was young and how he was so easily enticed by Caesar's words primarily because of the logic that Caesar uses against him. It's not perfect logic, but it's logic that makes sense given the harshness of wasteland life and how such cruelty and sacrifice have long been part of human history.
Well said. I'm really trying to explore how someone as worldly and spiritual as Joshua was "seduced" by what Edward was selling.

I especially love it whenever you do Joshua because you encapsulate him so perfectly. How a man so righteous in his beliefs was led astray due to the events that happened in his life and the people he met. Honestly. I am hoping the next long video you do will be about Joshua's month's long journey back to New Canaan. Your video on the Vault was so freaking perfect and just amazing. The big thing I would work on is mouth movement. It is probably one of the most complicated things, but my only criticism is that the mouths can look somewhat cartoonish.
@@Courier_Jackalope Thanks for this feedback - the system we're using is quite automated, so it will pick up the phonics of mouth movement, but reproduces the movement in a very odd manner. We'll be sure to keep working on this!
I'm really loving this dialog and beauty motion art. It defiantly had a lot of love and talent poured into it but I still feel it lacks the voices. The ones from the game I feel are rough and hardened by tbr years of warfare. I'm super excited still to see what is in store down the line snd am happy people like all of you are devoided to this world we all feel for. Much love

My only feedback on this project would be that if you're not planning on going with live action actors is maybe looking into a Machima instead? There's some fantastic ones made on youtube for Fallout, and I know FOAN is insanely talented at the 3d animations and camera shots ruclips.net/video/agHG5Ut5OwQ/видео.html . Also, finding age appropriate VA's for them as it sounds a little jarring to hear 50 y/o Josh's voice while in their younger years (early twenties canonically), lol, but I know this is just showing off part of the script, which does sound really good so far! For their 1st.BoHD and after voices, since it's an asset used outside of the game, might just need Bethesda's ok to use the voice assets. They seem to be pretty chill with granting permissions for big projects like F4NV and Capital Wasteland, minus the voice files as you can't port assets between games. Anyway, looking forward to what you have in store for us fans!

We recreated these voices with ElevenLabs, and used dialogue from our original scripts.

We wrote all our scripts years and year ago, but new technology has enabled us to produce this material quite quickly. We're working to make our content better and better going forward!

@@Retrofire-47 Hey Retrofire, every shot in this project was firstly written by a person, then edited and reanimated with a series of images we generated. Then, each of these "animations" were edited into a sequence with FX and hours of sound design. After that, the sequence was edited and reedited dozens of times. In future, we'd love your feedback - but please understand that even a short video like this takes lots of work by very experienced creators - getting paid nothing.

That's right, William. Everything but the hours and hours of writing. The landscape has changed drastically, and we need to produce content in a sustainable way. We're hoping to produce a fully animated series by the end of this process and we'll always welcome feedback from fans. :)
@@FalloutLanius i'm really disappointed. You don't need an AI replicated voice, and it detracts from the quality and emotion that a human actor can put into a performance. Its also disrespectful to the talents of the original voice actors.

Yeah, it's not like Bethesda/Zenimax expressly forbids fundraising for fan content or anything.... Oh wait, they kinda do! Even if folks donated the money to pay the voice actors, many of them now have lines in their contracts forbidding them from working on fan films or anything unofficial in the property's universe (thanks Paramount and Star Trek Axanar!) in a similar manner to a non-compete clause.
With that out of the way, if you do actually consider the machinima route, I know several talented modders on the Nexus who would probably be willing to share time and talents to create scenes, animations, textures, and models for such a project. There are also plenty of volunteer voice actors; the other half and I have lent our voices to several mods. There are a lot of folks who would be thrilled to contribute to a community project in any way they're able and most only ask for a mention in the credits if anything.
@@CyrusGuderyon The only thing that's disrespectful is voice actors getting butthurt about free fan projects like this (Nora's voice actress from Fallout 4 for example). Sad vulnerable narcissists/control freaks. It's worth mentioning that there are many voice actors who support/are fine with AI voice fan stuff like Nolan North.

This is dope, but a young Joshua Graham was just as bad or worse then Caesar. He only changed when he was welcomed and forgiven by the New Canaan after being thrown into the Grand Canyon.
This is a really good point. Our idea is for him to begin as a devout follower, who is corrupted by Edward Sallow's worldview. What we're going to do, is explore how gradually your views change as you become more extreme in your goals.
