For Kreia she wants the defeat the Will of the Force, for the Emperor he wants to defeat the Gods of the Warp. In doing so they ultimately alienate their supporters and cause their own downfalls, though still have hope that their teachings will continue and support some sort of change.

Some people really misunderstand Kreia. There are three points I want to talk about, since they're showing up often in the comments:
    1) Kreia is not evil, and doesn't care whether the Exile is good or evil. Most people play a Light Side Exile and only see Kreia criticize kind acts, but in truth she despises the Dark Side even more, and will criticize a Dark Side Exile just as much, if not more. The point of her character is to make the player think about what they're doing, no matter what road they take. More importantly, Kreia understands she's caused too much harm to be redeemed, which is why the final step of her plan is forcing the Exile to kill her. Kreia is bitter, pragmatic and almost out of hope, but she's not some crazy villain who was "put in her place" by good man Joshua. I'm actually surprised so many people defend Joshua, since much of what he says is just as cold blooded as Kreia's opinions, to the point that he sounds like a fanatic (ex: when done righteously, killing is just a chore like any other). If someone found a way to use his faith against him, he could be convinced to do a lot of cruel things with this mindset, which is why Kreia despises dogma.
    2) Kreia does not defend a fluid morality. Not once does she change her mind about her beliefs in the game, except perhaps in the end. All she says is that you have to be WILLING to betray your ideals, which becomes really difficult when you believe your ideals come from God. She also would never blame Revan for fighting the Mandalorians. She knows the galaxy would have fallen had they not gone to war, and that Revan chose to fall to the Dark Side to protect the galaxy from a greater evil. Not even Carth disagrees with the decisions Revan made during the Mandalorian Wars, and argues with Bastila about it when she agrees with the Council's inaction.
    3) Kreia is not a Sith. She couldn't be more clear about that. She no longer believes in the ideology of the Sith. The only reason she assumes the role of Darth Traya at the end is so she can establish herself as the final obstacle of the Exile. Everything she does in the game is for the Exile's sake, including the way she manipulates everyone around them. The point is always to protect the Exile and make them stronger.
People have this weird tendency to either worship or hate Kreia, instead of seeing her for what she is: a sad, bitter and wise person who lost everything that mattered to her, who clings to the Exile and seeks to challenge them because they're living proof that her philosophy has merit. She is your foil, whether the road you walk is Light or Dark, and the only way you can truly fail her is to fall to the Dark Side completely by killing the Jedi Masters. Her philosophy is right about many things, and yet can be improved. If you question her, you're not disappointing her, you're making her proud.

To be quite honest, despite liking her a lot for a long time now, this year a new epiphany came to me.
That for all her hatred of the force, believing how it is a controlling force of the galaxy, I came to believe that she's . . . ultimately misguided.
She sees the force as this ultimate intelligence, similar to how one see their maker and came to hated it, even going as far as to blame it for all the ills of the galaxy for some purpose she knows exist but couldn't discern, no matter how far she's seeing the future.
For all the good and ill it inadvertently cause to the galaxy, for all the power it grants to those who wield it, that it is basically indistinguishable from destiny.
But what if the force . . . isn't that.
What if the force, is just that. A force, similar to how gravity is gravity and oxygen is oxygen.
It has no concept of good and evil, of right and wrong. It react according to how a sword react to its wielder, or the sea to a drowning sailor, or a blade in a murderer hand, for good and for ill.
Only, it does a bit more than just that though. The movies, comics, books and various other such media proves it.
So, let expand that understanding a bit. The force is like this . . . godlike puppy.
The lightside is when you, in a certain word, 'play' with the puppy. It's 'playful', it gives warning 'bark' when danger is approaching, and when they want the force to do something the puppy happily obliges.
A constant companion that would never leave your side, that would accept you for you, a unbreakable yet unspoken bond that goes beyond simple companionship, but in practice is just that, simple companionship that just goes a bit beyond death. It's why Jedi's, and other lightsiders, are just generally content with their lot. Why wouldn't they when the forever and omniscient puppy are always there for them, and them alone.
But the darkside, is when you went a bit . . . dark. Instead of 'playing' with the force, they just . . . kick them to do what they want. Only, they have no concept of being abused, of being mistreated, of being hurt like normal puppies do, just that their entire existence is their wielder.
Similar to how an abused puppy grows mean, they respond, in what others might call, in 'mean' way. And their owners/wielder like it when they do so, especially if it was done to the ones they don't 'like.'
Only, they noticed when they kicked the force 'puppy,' the more 'mean/powerful' the force become. So, they started a culture of kicking the 'puppy' as a way to cultivate personal power, while the puppies were 'happy' that their wielders are 'happy'. Only, it was never enough 'power,' so they just keep on kicking and escalating the power level. And the Sith culture become like a underground dog fight arena, with all stakes like respect, status, and even life.
Only the ancient Rakatan came close to the 'puppies' breaking point, if they can be called breaking point.
I find it a bit sad that, although the bond and faith were broken from Kreia side, the force never reciprocate that broken essence and just . . . stays with her, always. It was never the force that hurt her, it was their wielders. It always was. Not the force, never the force.

@@156Rafi Perhaps. If I lived in the Star Wars galaxy, I would probably see the Force as a natural phenomenon, unlike the Jedi, who see it like a god.
George Lucas, however, did base the Force on god, so that viewpoint would probably be wrong. The whole point of the Force is that it's the product of the gods of many religions fused together, because, according to George, all religions are just seeing a different part of the elephant.
It's also repeatedly stated that the Force has a will, especially by the Jedi. There is no such thing as luck or coincidence in that galaxy. When the Exile's crew is forced to land on Dxun, one of the Exile's old battlegrounds, Kreia immediately points out that the Force willed it, just like the Jedi believed the Force willed Anakin into existence to destroy the Sith after they pushed it too far.
This doesn't mean the Force is malevolent, mind you. Even Kreia doesn't believe that, I think. On Malachor, she states that the Force watches out for fools such as Atton, as it does for the old, such as her. Doesn't sound like a cruel god. Kreia does however, see it as harmful, because whether it seeks to help or not, the fact that the Force imposes its will on the galaxy is all that matters to her. A poison isn't evil, it just is.
Also, what the Force really is is the enforcer of George Lucas's stupid morality, which is why Sith are disfigured monsters. All anger is always bad to the Force. Wanting things for yourself is always evil. You should live only to help others, because the only possible alternative is destroying others for your own sake. It's a demented view on the world, based on Buddhism's philosophy that there is no self. Thinking about yourself, caring about your own life, wanting a family, wanting to enjoy yourself, all these things are sins that lead to the Dark Side, which is selfish pleasure at any cost. The only way to be truly happy, to George Lucas and the Force, is to let go, follow the will of the universe and dedicate your life to helping others. It's not a philosophy he follows, since he got married himself, but it's the philosophy Star Wars is based on. Other authors had different takes on the Force, of course, but this is the original vision of the series.
I honestly prefer your take of the Force, that it just is, a take that some authors have used, but Kreia is a direct criticism of George's vision. She rejects him completely and calls bullshit on that philosophy. She outright tells the Exile that she doesn't want them to be a Jedi Knight, she wants them to learn to be human, because they are free. Free from George's enforcer. Free to make their own choices without the Force messing with them.
Ultimately, whatever the Force is and to whatever degree it uses people, Kreia despises it because this is the core of her ideals: "and know that that is the true lesson of strength. To turn away from strength that is not your own." And honestly, even though I probably would have stopped Kreia's original plan too, I get it. She one of the most reasonable villains I've ever seen.
Also, by the end of the game, Kreia doesn't even care if the Force dies anymore, because she loves the Exile above all. She just wants them the flourish and be a living example of the victory of her philosophy. She knows the death of all living things is no victory, so she's content with making the Exile her greatest success.

@@scarletowl4556 I remember reading somewhere on how the first scientist is a priest of some sort, who endeavored to understand the world around them and that by doing so, deepen their own connection to God. Similar to how the first Jedi were simply scholars and priest and soldiers who just want to understand and study the force, similar to how their understanding of the universe around them allow them to travel the star in a piece of flying metal and/or organic brick.
You can even argue that the Jedi, despite the responsibility that is heaped upon them, are still scholars of the force. Seeking to understand them in their downtime while helping out the galaxy in the process.
Not to say I disagree with Lucas takes on it, or even the criticism of it by Kreia. I did however, mention that it is a similar to how a puppy would behave, a godlike and omniscient one to be sure but a puppy nonetheless.
It just that, what if there is no destiny, no fate, no will, no design that were imposed on the galaxy. That for all that it has done, and will do, it was never big enough on their own.
It was the wielder. Those who imposed their belief, good or ill, justifiable or not, the contentment and balance of the lightsided Jedi and the corrupted, power-hunger darkside Sith. That through the force, similar to how geniuses instinctively or historian see connections and patterns in life, a select few people can shape and/or see the future as they will.
And in those sight, people misinterpret it as 'destiny' or 'fate' instead of just that, simply vision of the future. That the consequences of their action ripples far into the future. Never understanding that the future won't happen without history or people to support its foundation.
I'll argue that, although the force have a conscience of their own, people overestimate on just how much it actually has. Similar to how a puppy have a conscience or will of its own, hence why I referred to them as puppies. People who generally take good care of one can presumably be trusted, unlike those who have a habit of kicking puppies for personal enjoyment.
The actual influence the force has on the galaxy is benign at worse, it was just people who used and abused that can cause suffering and collateral damage, regardless of their intention, that the force-wielders has a far easier time affecting the galaxy as to be unintentional.

Think what you want but these two are the two faces of the same coin:
Joshua is a simple man, nothing about him is special, he is no chosen one, he is no protagonist, he is an npc who went trough terrible shit in his life and has made decisions that eventually forged his view on the world that surrounded him.
Kreia is the same, but she went trough a different route. She was curious about the dark side, fell to it at malachor 5, was betrayed by two of her students/allies and realized her own mistakes, but also saw what nihilus and sion had become and some aspects of the force that we ourselves forget. The two siths became hungry, they wanted more power, they wanted to be stronger, heck, nihilus was literally starving for life force, all because of the force. She is flawed in her way to see the force, but at the same time one cant really blame her, the force is cruel in its own way, kreia had partially and momentarily succeded, but because the sith still existed... well, the cycle for power started over.

This was great to listen to. Joshua put her in her place without trying to be prideful. Kreia is still evil, she just thought she was an exception, but really she is a product of insanity, which is often poorly portrayed in storytelling. Kreia couldn't accept an uncomfortable truth that the Force is greater than her. But Joshua has the right mindset regarding morality and principles. Kreia is a bit hypocritical here but it fits her character. She encourages manipulating people on Nar Shadaa, it's generally wrong to do that. I think people romanticize Kreia too much, but this was a fresh take on her. Joshua was the icing on the cake.

"Kreia couldn't accept an uncomfortable truth that the Force is greater than her." A guideline, not a rule. People used to worship the sun. Nowadays, we have solar power, and I'll assume that there are more people who use solar power secularly than worship the sun. Saying that it's wrong to "twist nature" is inherently the beliefs of country bumpkins unable to do so. For example, do you know what makes spicy food spicy? The chemicals of chili peppers are, by all rights, a poison designed to _discourage_ predators. We humans twist it into an ingredient that we take for our own culinary amusement. Greater? Then be greater still. Take what you can. Give nothing back.

    • @DarkAdonisVyers
      @DarkAdonisVyers Год назад +11

@@TheCouriersGambit Her goal to destroy the Force is perfectly agreeable. She just doesn't seem to differentiate between the tangible midichlorians and the "will of the Force". Midichlorians themselves are nothing more than resources. Nothing to "defeat". As for the will of the Force, how does one defeat it? Simple. Capitalize the hell out of it. In Fire Emblem 3 Houses, Crests are supposed to be "blessings of the Goddess", but it's just dragon blood.
In the series, Professor Hanneman's goals after the war are to research ways to artificially give and take Crests. That way, it would no longer be viewed as some "sacred" or religious thing but just another asset. In that same sense, if one were to be able to artificially make someone Force-sensitive, suddenly being Force-sensitive is no longer under the control of the will of the Force.

Joshua is WILDLY outclassed.... He sounds good, in a retort, here or there, but where he lacks is the substructure.
Joshua is a meaningless nobody whos ideas will never solve, fix, or finally resolve anything...
Kreia is not yet complete.... but she digs about the roots of the first things, tilling the soil, and uncovering the bare roots.
What Joshua thinks is fine, but it fixes nothing, and resolves nothing.
The tree has grown too old, and it no longer bears good fruit.
The time has long since come that we must uncover the source of this unwellness....
That we must refresh the soil, and salvage and nurture young new strong cuttings...
Joshua is a cope. A method of bearing things completely beyond oneself.
Kreia is(the beginning of) a solution. To everything

  • @thesmolboi7848
    @thesmolboi7848 5 месяцев назад

I'm gonna be honest, I feel like Kreia secretly thinks of her as the hero of the story. Trying to claim it's the force's fault when, in truth, just the individuals that use this power who are at fault. And in the end won't accomplish anything, another tyrant will rise and grow to become a danger to others with or without the force. All she's doing is lashing out and blaming something that had nothing to do at all with the problems caused by others. Trying to embrace chaos is also very unwise, you should acknowledge and respect chaos. Understand that it is one with order and the balance of life. Only order and hold chaos in check, and only chaos can break the chains of order. If you favor one over the other than you're no better than the ones who came before you and just seem silly due to not realizing your own mistakes.

    • @thesmolboi7848
      @thesmolboi7848 5 месяцев назад

And after a while, you'll start to tell yourself that what you're doing is right and just, the more you don't have order, the more chaos mucks with your own ideals. But the same could be said about order. Yet this is why balance is key. If you don't have the guiding hand of order to stay your path straight, then you'll be in the darkness. If you try to use order for everything, then you risk becoming soulless and bent on following "The path" without chaos to show you the hidden variables and beauty of things outside of the path. You also have to stop thinking of your own way as the right way. Which is what she's doing. Think her choice is the only and correct path to walk when in truth we all walk our own path, and we may choose to bring others along with us. With only chaos, no one would take accountability for their actions, with only order we risk holding those without it as those who are not to be trusted and should be prosecuted as a result. In the end I feel both are right in certain areas but to act as if we should abandon all sense of honor and principles is simply too far gone from reality.
