James, The Kirkland is $199 here in the US. You can get a brand new fitted PXG 0211 driver or a 0811 Gen4 driver for $199 as well. Each of them brand new in the plastic. That would be new compared to new. The nice thing about the PXG is that their fitters are second to none.... in my opinion anyway.

I got lucky bought a Callaway maverick off of marketplace for $150 but it came with 2 shafts. I sold the one shaft for $80 and played that whole year then sold the maverick for $180 and bought a rogue st max off Callaway preowned for $225. Was a great way to get a 2 year old driver that was practically new

I got a gorgeous 3 and 5 WOOD from the Callaway Pre-Owned site. EPIC SPEED 3 WOOD and BIG BERTHA B21 5 WOOD, both in great condition, with great shafts, for under $200.
Right now, Im waiting on a set of irons I bought. ROGUE ST MAX OS irons, above avg condition, 5-PW,AW,SW,GW. Paid $449 with 35% off.

I thought the budget was £157? I don' t think James can count coz he picks an M3 driver that's £164 and thinks he has £3 left over!

Love this video. I'm a great believer in buying quality used clubs. Most golfers don't buy used clubs (?) because they're worried about their image. Prices for new clubs are silly and used clubs still work for most people. You just have to do your homework and watch your channel for good info.

I paid £140 for a Gen5 pxg driver, £94 and £129 for gen5 3 and 5 woods respectively. I have also bought Callaway CF19 irons for £180, 0211 irons for £150 (resold for £300). Also 0211 xcor2's for £225, a brand new in the wrapper tri hot 5k double wide for £159 and an as new Scotty Cameron Phantom X 12.5 for £180. Among others bought and sold this year.
Other buys include a new PXG limited edition camo cart bag for £220 and several pairs of new golf shoes including Payntr, footjoy, sketchers and UA offerings. The second hand market is outrageously good especially if you are patient. Iv spent the last 12 months or so buying and selling golf clubs and equipment to put together my current PXG and Callaway bags together with the aim of getting as close to £0 as possible. I require Callaway woods to finish the Callaway bag and a PXG gen 5 7 wood to round out the PXG bag. I will then continue flipping clubs and equipment to put together a Japanese bag, probably Honma Tr21x or XP-1's. The goal is £0 overall as stated above and it could take me another year or more to complete my 3 bag bucket list. It's become a bit of a side hobby or quest to see how close to £0 net i can get.
Short version, don't rule out the second hand market.

I don't see myself splurging on $400-600 drivers when the gain over previous models is minimal, if any at all; not when you can save so much on 2nd hand or previous model drivers. The only real improvements I see on the new drivers is some look cooler. Great reminder, James, of why we don't have to break the bank to find great clubs. Cheers!

Great value drivers, but a new driver from a year or two back or a lightly used one for around £300 is a good option in terms of performance compared to forking out £5-600 for something that is as yet unproven.

They are not that price on EBay, golf clubs for cash obviously make a profit, nothing wrong with that, but you can source used equipment at better prices. I got a 2023 Titleist TSR2 driver with a Oban Kyosji premium shaft for £275, sold the shaft for £150, nett head price £125, i had a spare Hzrdus driver shaft, with Titleist adapter, happy days, i could buy a new shaft for £70, so still less than £200 for a £599 current driver.

Cant go wrong with the Rogue though and I would take any of those over the Kirkland, easier to get new shafts for them to second hand ofcourse.
