Hey Joe sorry to hear about tour sister😥😞. Man life right, we are all so fragile. But yeah its crazy what these dealership do to just change out the battery. Some cars have the battery behind the passenger seats like the GMC ACADIA. So weird 🤦🏽♂️ what there doing. To me it looks like a fire 🔥 hazard. All them cables on top of the battery source that is getting hot from charging and discharging and not to mention the HOT ENGINE BLOCK next to it.🤦🏽♂️ I dont know 🤷🏽♂️ engineers these days. I did all that to get the battery out, then discovered the positive terminal bolt was corroded, stripped and loose. Replaced the bolt and nut on the terminal and it’s good to go. Thanks for the video, Sir!

Thanks for a great video! Decided to go ahead and replace the original battery on my wife’s 2015 Malibu before it left her stranded somewhere and left me at the mercy of a tow truck company. Never have seen a more complicated procedure for swapping out a car battery so again, thanks for the video!

Thanks George! I went to Auto XXXX for their promised installation, that was a joke! It took about 10 minutes and 3 employees before they said "Uuuugh, we can't change this cause of all the electronics". To their credit they did manage to get the battery cover off. Ha Ha Ha. Have a good day.

If anyone comes to this is 2022… if you wish to save about 30 minutes… there are slots on the side of the piece covering the battery. Stick a flat head screwdriver in the slot and press outward from the battery and it releases the tabs

It's a wiring harness that provides electricity to the engine components. Its a THING that the big time dealerships do, so the consumer can't fix their own car and you have to take it to their service shop. So they sell you the car and they charge you for maintaining it as well it's a win win situation for the dealership that's why they do it. To get every penny out of you. Sorry. Have you ever had to replace the battery in the trunk? The aux battery ? My car just gave me a code saying something is wrong with my aux battery in the trunk just curious on how to get it out
No sorry, I did notice that Battery when we had this Vehicle in the Lot but didn't bother to remove it and could not find a video on how to remove it. Im sure its pretty similar. Just remove the terminal connections and the battery tie down and it should come off. Hopefully. Sorry I dont have a video for that, but i will make one once I come across another car that has the similar setup. Sorry and Good Luck!

Sorry I work at a dealership now an its the reason why im changing out soooo many batteries out of cars but the alternator is a big job and I only do those big jobs on my cars at home. Sorry so I do not have access to changing out an alternator on this vehicle. Other wise i would and make a video lol. Im glad it work out for you!

No its just a couple of them. The video shows how to remove it out from the engine bay.

My car is Chevy Malibu 2015 I was trying to take it out.. because we have a severe winter in Saskatchewan Saskatoon.. and I’m not driving my car within 2 more months and the weather we have is-35 and I think my battery has ruined or not charging while I drive my car.. :(
🥶🥶🥶 Wow, that's super cold. Unfortunately, it does sound like the battery is possibly ruined. Batteries are super bad in cold environments...they drain themselves 🤷♂️... yeah it sounds like it would have to be replaced Unfortunately...sounds like its bad 😔

What sizes did you use in total?
I think it was 10mm, 5/16 and 1/2 sockets cause you need to disconnect 2 wires with the standard sockets and the battery connectors with the 10mm.

I don't know. Part of the electrical wiring harness. Just a way for the dealership to trick you into taking back the car to their repair shop. It's all a money scheme. To take every penny out of you.
Hey man about to do this myself, question dealer says they want to replace my battery cables due to high resistance for 1,200 bucks. I said NO I will do it my self. Ever heard of this before with these malibus?
No I have never hear this. Wow if this is the case Look up The Big 3 Upgrade on youtube and this should take care of it and its only going to cost you like 20-40 buck in supplies

Before it used to be we're you could easily replace the part, now they make it so you have to take it to the dealership to get anything done.
