Brian Cox has had a wild career. over 30 years of TV and film work. Succession. Deadwood. The bad guy in X-Men 2. The voice of McDonalds commercials. And now he's telling the story of Tekken. 100% chance he showed up to a green screen on the day of. Read the script, did a few teleprompter takes, and carried on. He's got two sons in their 20s...guarantee they were like "dad, do it!"
Don't forget The Bourne movies! 😊
He was also Pariah Dark from Danny Phantom.
Also the original Hannibal Lecter
The first actor to portray Hannibal Lecter.
Hang on…when did he voiced for McDonald’s?
At the end, despite all the fighting, despite all the tentacle samurais and bear romance, it's just a simple story about a family throwing each other off cliffs.
And all of this is Kazumi's fault.
A full on Latin American soapopera / telenovela.
@fernandozavaletabustos205 next we need a puppet or doll with the desire to kill. Mokujin doesn't count 😄
@@snafuthegreat
Pretty much
By now it should be a olympic sport in tekken universe
This is so wacky but at the same time, Brian Cox did a good job explaining the messed up Tekken story. I wish I could see his reaction when he first read the Tekken story.
He's used to the crazy family dramas since was logan in succession lmao
"Easy money just to read this shit in front of a green screen? Deal!"
You are seeing his first reaction to the story 😂
You aren't, his reading off a script.@@jordanomaly
We did. Him saying "What the hell is a devil gene" wasn't in the script.
Not only did he casually retell the lore of Tekken, he correctly pronounced the characters' names. That's dedication.
Can we appreciate the fact that this marketing team took the time make Brian Cox narrating the story actually make it look like he is in the setting that they have in the background. The lighting was perfect...
I think part of the reason it looks so good is because they used a virtual set like the recent Star Wars shows instead of a green screen. But agreed either way, amazing effort!
It looks like crap

Yeah this is absolutely something Brian Cox would do, he has a great sense of humour
I'm surprised. He famously hates Shenanigans.
But he famous started smoking weed the past few years 😂 @@tomkvideo
Is that the place with all the goofy shit on the walls? @@tomkvideo
@@ganymede4030 SHUT UP FARVA
Getting Brian Cox to tell the lore of Tekken is the absolutely most amazing thing Bandai Namco has ever done, loved every minute of that video.
Like when they hired Karl Urban and Rainn Wilson for Armored Core 6 ads.
@@fernandozavaletabustos205 don't get me wrong those are also very great but this one is on another level lol
“I remember filming Pixels like it was yesterday. Still better than my marathon of Jujutsu Kaisen recently.”-Brian Cox
Is this a joke?
@@thephantazm5139 You wish.
Source plsssssss????????
Having the father from Succession narrate a story of dysfunctional families is just chefs kiss
Brian Cox prob be like "a fighting game? Nah why would i do th...wait it has shitty fathers?? Sign me tf up!"
Just a few weeks ago, I found out that Aqua Teen Hunger Force was still going on, and that Brian Cox was a major character in the last episode. Just a few minutes ago, I found out Brian Cox is now recapping the story of Tekken. Strange timeline this is.
Brian Cox did a few cartoons, his game is on point
He was in the latest season of Aqua Teen??
I only watched the first episode and then forgotten about it until now.
I'm just happy Brian Cox went full-ass into this. He knew how outlandish the story sounded, but he carried on in a way that honored the story instead of reading it like "Yep. It's dumb, but I'm getting paid, so I'm just gonna phone it in."
Albert Finney (RIP) was the dad in Big Fish. He was Irish and Brian Cox is a legend (and Scottish and alive). Still, seeing him pronounce Kazuya Mishima makes me giggle. He's not short of a few quid so it feels a weird choice of work after Succession 😂😂
Some dudes just like to work, even if they don't gotta. Just look at Michael Caine's career.
@@johnnychopsocky And Morgan Freeman 😆. Some legends just need to be told to sit down and enjoy their twilight years. That said, give me either voicing the Tekken 9 summary and I'm sold
I thought Mickey Caine croaked it but I've been corrected tonight!! Suppose AI is a thing now too anyway... here's hoping 🙏
What no, Michael Caine's still alive. He's just old, like 90, and finally retiring because again: *90*
@johnnychopsocky I assumed. I made an ass outta me and Michael Caine no less 🙄. So possibly Tekken 9 review after all!!
It's unironically perfect considering the common throughline between Tekken and Succession is being about intergenerational family trauma among a bloodline tasked with running a major empire
I can actually see Brian Cox voicing Heihachi if they made an animated film lol
Loved how even they knew the ridiculousness of it with Mr Cox just casually and matter of factly talking about Devil Genes and the Mishima traditional of the patricidal cliffs.
I fucking love how you can tell at times Brian Cox could barely contain his laughter.
Still, admirable professionalism from him 😂
Am I the only one who needed this in my life? Brian Cox narrating the whole story of Tekken? Lol
Really? That's so specific to think about.
If only Capcom had gotten Morgan Freeman to narrate Street Fighter 6
Ball dropped Capcom....
I'm actually surprised Brian got all their names right so perfectly. He even gets the stress placement right on KAzuya Mishima, but without overpronouncing it. What a legend. Also, I somehow laughed AND took this recap seriously. Well done, Namco.
He's a professional
"What the hell is a Devil Gene?!" - Brian Cox 2024
I remember Brian Cox in the X2 movie way back when he played Striker. Glad to see he's still at it, he has such a distinguished voice.
He was an outstanding Stryker. X2 is still my favourite superhero movie. Avengers excluded ofc...
Yeah bro i bet lots of peeps do too...he was crazy ass Stryker especially paired up with Hugh Jackman
"In Tekken 8, Fist... Meets face." Is the true slogan they should've gone with.
So unexpected of someone like Brian Cox to tell about the TEKKEN chronology, yet, very entertaining.
Brian Cox has worked with video games before.
He's the voice of the villain from Manhunt 1, yes that Manhunt. He also voiced Visari in the Killzone series.
I remember asking a friend about the story of Tekken
"So Heihatchi is the father of Kazuya who is the father of Jin, and they're all trying to kill each other."
and I went 'Yeah but who's Lars?'
"Bandai Namco doesn't even remember who Lars is."
this was both hilarious because of how selfaware they were and hype asf
edit:in the first chapter of tk8,kazuya immediately remind everyone what jin did so they don't hid anything
He's also immediately outing himself as a Devil again, despite waging a media war with Heihachi- probably only days if not hours ago- to "make everyone forget he turned in a Devil".
Jin: “You are responsible for everything that happen”
Kazuya: “Bruh you started a WW3 and blaming on someone else”
Thing with Tekken 6, they can't make it non-canon because of Azazel being part of Zafina, and Jin and Claudio knowing of the creature's existence. And making Azazel non-canon would be very difficult considering the game's story endings showed us that the Devil Gene is directly connected to it. Not to mention, Azazel is the whole reason Jin began that war. The amount of retcons needed to "decanonize" Tekken 6 would be too much to not piss at least some people off(including me)
Also what reason would Miguel have to even be there at that point
@@TupocalypseShakur True. Without the war to summon Azazel, he'd have no reason to avenge his sister
@@TupocalypseShakur Miguel probably isn't T8 so the devs can brush under the rug that Jin is a war criminal lol
Plus 6 introduced Lars
More to the point, doesn’t the exchange between Jin and Kazuya in the Tekken 8 demo have them directly refer to the war from T6? So unless that changes for some reason, I don’t think they’re likely to make the entire thing non-canon, since they’ve already made the effort to call back to it in the game itself.
Can you imagine Brian Cox reading all the anime bullshit in this script for the first time? It makes me smile.
It’s so funny how in the video Brian Cox talked all about the Mishima’s, throwing each other off cliffs, and all the while kept a straight face with how he talked about it and all… but oh man, it made me so much more hyped. Then I already was, I even ordered a Tekken, eight shirt online, (to wear when I go to get the game when it comes out), and it came today, haha… also, I am so glad that they are putting Jin at the forefront of Tekken once again… he is my all-time favorite Tekken character EVER!😁
Not sure if other people remember, apologies if I'm retreading covered ground, but Brian Cox has been a video game supporter from wayyyyyyyyyyy back. He voice acted the rolling snuff film director in Manhunt.
This went over most of the heads in the comment section. I think the reason Bandai Namco, went with Brian Cox(Logan Roy) in the Succession tv show. Is because of the similarities between the two families, just like the Mishima family. The Roy family in Succession are pretty much the same. Father vs his owns sons, or sons fighting their own father to be the head of the family conglomerate. I think that's the idea behind this. If you've watched Succession you'll understand.
I just remember the movie troy, where he played Agamemnon. God memories
He also played the OG Hannibal Lector in Manhunt back in the 80s. Man's a ledge
Now I want a Brian Cox Voice Pack on T8.😂😂😂
Can we get Brian Cox to do this for all long running video game series? I would love to see him do this for Kingdom Hearts or Metal Gear.
Brian Cox never disappoints 👍.
Now I want him to voice Brian Fury forever. He's a fooking Saint our Brian Cox. Or English version Heihachi 😁
It's gonna be so epic playing Tekken 8 in exactly 2 Weeks from now! And I'm all for it!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Yea man I can already feel it's here!
Logan Roy absolutely needs to be a DLC character!
Make him the Akuma stand in
He is already Heihachi in Succession tbh
Considering Tekken is primarily about a drama within a powerful family (physically and financially), yeah Brian Cox killed it.
4:54 I've been feeling this way since they announced her being in the game. She's not really alive like people are thinking. She's likely there as a ghost or as something else. Look at her intro when you play as her, the way she appears out of nowhere when the crows fly past the screen implies that she's there by some kind of otherworldly means.
Don't laugh Max, this is a serious story 😅
6 still happened. Kazuya references Jin starting the war in their first battle.
I think Harada saw an episode of succession and was like "okay."
Jin ALSO killed Miguel's sister, let's not forget that. 🤣
I know they don't mention 6, but in Chapter 1, Kazuya literally calls out Jin for literally starting ww3 and killing millions between the fight. At least there's some awareness.
This feels like I’m watching a Venture Bros recap episode lol
lmao, I don't even know who's worse - Rusty's father or Kazuya
The fact that they're using flashback CGI clips from the original games makes it even more hilarious.
This makes me realize how silly the story is which makes me smile
For a hot minute I thought it was the other Brain Cox and we was about to get a rundown on how particle physics work in the Tekken universe
This man was in Super Troopers, he's already my hero but he still made me love his work even more. You're pretty good too of course Max. XD
The crazy thing is, when you hear Brian Cox explain the Mishima/Kazama story. It’s really not that bad and I think the first 3 games hearing it this way is a great premise for a TV series. It’s obviously over the top but there’s a great through line with these 3 characters
I agree, Jun is a figment of Jin's imagination. There's no reason she's popping up unless it's for drama reasons.
Losing Jun Kazama from the franchise hurt me. I took up Xiaoyu in her name 18 years ago and will fight for her honour all my life.. Wait... she's alive??? 😇 My wee angel
nah don't listen to max. There are things we don't know, just stay tuned LMAO
"The voice you are hearing is Brian Cox! We've spared no expense!" - Bandai Namco
Succession's new season looks so cool!
This is the franchise i base my relationship on with my daughter. So far she just in her training arc
Please don't yeet your children off cliffs.
Getting a Shakespearean actor to recap the story of Tekken is a major flex, kinda want to see others do the same
Imagine, Patrick Stewart recapping the story of Soul Calibur or Sir Ian McKellen recapping KOF or Dame Judi Dench recapping DOA?
I appreciate his attention to detail in pronouncing their names 😅
i knew this guy from somewhere and it is the perfect choice: is from the series "sucession". and what he talks about ? the mishimas and how power shifts from fathers to son. i didnt had the chance to watch the series they say is very good, but i completely understand the decision. the guys was meant for this presentation
The audio seems to drop in quality around 7:09 for a solid minute.
Thought I was tripping lol
This is my favorite video so far after watching all the Tekken 8 videos. This made my day.
Logan Roy recapping Tekken is what I did not know I needed
Can't wait for Kaz to say "FUK THE URF" and Sidestep 2 the whole planet.
What's next, Bryan Cranston telling the full story of Street Fighter?
Seriously everyone, take notes when it comes to presenting recaps.
Imagine Morgan Freeman retelling the chronology of Super Smash Bros
This is weird and fun and I like it also he pronounced the names really well
It's honestly wild to me there people who are decades older than me that haven't really checked out the lore of tekken that much but are now from that story recap not saying it's a bad thing it just be having me like 😯
Brian Cox as Scolar Visari made the intro to Killzone 2 one of the greatest of all time.
6:22 There is actually a scene where Kazuya calls Jin out for the destruction he caused in Tekken 6.
I love this so much. Brian Cox's narration throughout is amazing. Tekken is bonkers, and that is why we love it
Ultimately, it's a story about family...
...And that's what's so powerful about it.
Yup-yup.
The best part is T6 is actually my favorite since it's the one where I sat down and learned everyone (to a very basic extent). So just skipping over evil Jin is hilarious to me.
Bryan Cox has been one of my favorite actors since I saw him in Braveheart which was right around the time I was falling in love with Tekken so this is like the happiest coincidence for me.
Also his pronunciations are perfect and his subtle comedic delivery show why Cox is one of the funniest people in one of the funniest movies ever made Super Troopers.
8:39 tekken 4 isn't evolved around jin. Game was about kazuya's come back, his attempt to get power back and taking control over his body from devil. Jin didn't pushed the plot forward, he just impacted by the plot.
It's a tragedy Max has hasn't watched succession because this is at least 10x funnier if you imagine Logan Roy in character saying all of this.
Correction Max, Jin didnt kill "Claudio's wife", i dont think he has one, he killed Miguel's sister.
I like how they ignore the whole "Jin literally started WWIII" (which I believe is still actively ongoing?). Also, didn't they basically establish that the Devil Gene is technically the hero trait that protects the world, which is why Kazumi was originally sent to kill Heihachi?
Someone needs to show Max 'Super Troopers'.
I want more of this. I need more distinguished British thespians summarizing fighting game lore. Gimme 'Patrick Stewart Summarizes Guilty Gear'. Give me Matt Berry summarizing Street Fighter, if only so I can hear what inflection he chooses when saying 'satsui no hado'.
Bandai glossing over Jin starting ww3 is so funny. It's like they're saying it was a psyop and that Jin never murdered millions of innocent people.
Me watching Succession last year was building upto this moment all along!
Tekken 8 is a success
About being Jun being dead: I've thought that too, but it kinda doesn't make sense that Kazuya says to Jun "So you've been alive the whole time". Unless it's just supposed to be a gotcha.
If you think hard enough, succcession is basically tekken but without karate
"Patricidal Puzzle"
- Brian Cox
Best line I never knew I needed in my life lol
When I see Brian Cox I just think of Wolverine screaming “STRIKER!!!”
“You’re my number one boy… Kazuya.” - Heihachi “Roy” Mishima
I’m making a prediction that when Dragonball Fighterz 2 comes out they’ll get Michael B Jordan to recap the story.
They should’ve got the other Brian Cox, would’ve been even weirder.
The Professor? 😂 Indeed! Not a million miles away from getting Philomena Cunk to recap the story 😁
I've not seen that guy in ages, he used to be on TV all the time
@@El-Burrito He sometimes pops up in new RUclips interview vids still, and he's still a scientist by trade, so he's probably gone off to do science stuff.
@kate804 She'd nail the intergenerational fighting for sure
Bandai: "Lets face it, the lore in these games sounds batshit crazy, so I propose we get a distinguished sounding Shakespearian actor to talk about it, and make it sound plausible."
This is one of my favourite things this year haha
They left out all the Jin is a mass murderer stuff which I found convenient
Love that he referenced the movie "Big Fish", one of my favorite films of all time. Granted wrong actor 😭
Its funny how they got Brian Cox someone most fans probably don't even know and how they have to recap every Tekken games story pretty much saying "hey everyone remember Tekken has a story too!"😂
So Tekken is being looked over by the OG Hannibal?...I have anything but problems with this.
They took the guy who played a guy whose familly fight to get his empire to tell the tekken story that's brilliant
Brian Cox is a pro. He played his roles in movies and tv shows very well.
00:39 Albert Finney isn't Brian Cox, but they were both in the Bourne movie series... so fair enough i guess. 😂
"What the hell is the devil gene", Cox was shooting
4:13 There's that smile. 🤣
They forgot about Jun Kazama and Jinpachi Mishima.
They should make a PS5 collection of Tekken Tag 1 and 2, and announce Tekken Tag 3 after this entry.
7:34 The narrator nearly couldn't stop himself from laughing when saying the "all mankind" part
It doesn't hit quite like Armored Core with Karl Urban did, but it def works. I appreciate that Brian Cox even has an element of WTF am I saying as he says this lol.
I just imagine Lionel Starkweather from Manhunt being a huge Heihachi main
in between editing the snuff films.
They couldn't get Tasty Steve to recap the story for Tekken due to scheduling conflictions so they went with this Brian Cox fellow.
Wait we’re brushing over the fact Max hasn’t heard of BRIAN COX!?!?
Brian Cox should be a guest character like Dr. Bosconovitch. Plot twist Heihachi returns and posses a iron clad Mokujin called Tetsujin made from Tekken 4s Combot is now a true IROn FIST
