It was the Simpsons before the Simpsons! Prime-time slot, adult level jokes, controversies, guest actors, and tons of contemporary references. As a kid i did not get it at the time, but looking back it really was a one of a kind show breaking barriers.
The main vocal cast during the first several years were Alan Reed (Fred); Jean Vander Pyl (Wilma); Mel Blanc (Barney); and Bea Benaderet (Betty). Jean Vander Pyl would perform other character voices as would Mel Blanc. Don Messick (Arnold; Bamm-Bamm; Hoppy) was part of the supporting vocal cast as were Hal Smith and Howard Morris. John Stephenson (Mr. Slate) was also among the supporting vocal cast. Gerry Johnson took over the role of Betty for the final two seasons of the original series (1964-1966). The story goes that scheduling conflicts due to Bea Benaderet starring in "Petticoat Junction" (1963-1968) were becoming too great/more demanding which left her little time to record at Hanna-Barbera.

I heard the Flintstones were based on the Honeymooners but they never mentioned that. You can see the similarities when you watch it.
