    Fun fact: Harvey Korman (who played Wilma's dad in this movie) also voiced The Great Gazoo in the actual Flintstones show. Bill Hanna and Joe Barbara also make cameos here.

      In a way you could argue that glass itself it’s a stone hear me out
      Glass is melted silica (sand for stupid people) so technically it’s a mineral
      They introduced concrete in the good version and that’s just a mix of minerals including sand
      And they had tv’s
      So in a really stupid way glass could be dumbed down so much to a rock
      Like a crystal

Whatever, they have TV sets and movie cameras, I think the Flintstones having nondenominational religion is the least of their anachronisms. Christmas? Lemme get this straight, they need to use dinosaurs as construction machinery because mechanics haven't been invented yet. Yet they use mechanical dinosaurs to train their employees to use actual dinosaurs...

    • @MrChadd990
      @MrChadd990 7 лет назад +335

      no, you got it all wrong. they use dinosaurs because they're sick and they love to abuse animals.
      plus, although they are master mechanics, they don't have any oil yet because of the time period. hence, that's why they're killing the dinosaurs, to set up a future generation with unlimited oil.

      I guess just overall (I've been watching since 2009ish?) I feel like the style is less overall focussed on the Critic, and more on the critique, jokes, and having a good time. There was a time when everything felt forced and not fun, but it seems like they've hit their stride and just don't care and are loving it. Lewis (Linkara) also has gone through a similar change.

    As a fan of The Flintstones, I can confidently say
    that this movie was indeed pointless.
    Particularly since in the original cartoon, they ALREADY did an episode
    showing how Fred and Barney met Wilma and Betty.
    (They were bellhops and waitresses at a resort that THOUGHT the other was rich.)
    So, if you ever want to see how they first met..Watch THAT episode.
    Skip this film, AND the Flintstone Kids, as both are contradictory.

    It always used to bug me as a kid that there was never a consistent story about how Fred and Barney first met Wilma and Betty. There was one episode I remember watching a lot as a kid was called "Love Letters on the Rocks" where Wilma finds an old love letter that Fred wrote for her when they were in High School together, but when Fred finds it he doesn't remember writing it so he thinks Wilma is having an affair. However there was another episode which flashed back to Fred and Barney meeting Wilma and Betty for the first time when they were all working at a fancy hotel as their first jobs when they are just out of High School. Then of course during the Baby-fication craze in the 80's that started with Muppet Babies, they made The Flintstone Kids which implies that they've known each other since their childhoods (even as a kid I thought that was a dumb idea). And of course there's the first live action movie where Fred says that he first met Wilma when she was working in a restaurant and he won an all-you-can-eat contest, and then along comes this movie, which is supposed to be a prequel to that one which changes the story yet again! What gives?

    • @thirteenfury
      @thirteenfury 7 лет назад +13

      Bowmaj 86 You know, that's got me thinking. The Simpsons already borrows elements from The Flintstones, so why not the inconsistent, frequently retconned story of how Homer and Marge met? It kinda makes sense now.

    • @Xegethra
      @Xegethra 7 лет назад +1

      Alternate continuities, they all exist separate from one another so they can explore more stories, so they don't conflict. Like with super heroes and their million and one origin stories. They all happened, just in different universes.

      @mityakiselev 7 лет назад

      Ahhhah... lmao... bug

    • @bowmaj8666
      @bowmaj8666 7 лет назад +1

      +Amaranthus616 I can understand alternate continuities between say, the different TV series and the movies, however like I said there were two episodes in the same cartoon that completely contradicted each other. Then again I suppose maybe it had something to do with the budget, or maybe that they didn't really put a lot of thought into continuity between episodes back then. I mean the Flintstone's house never looked the same twice, and despite the fact that we saw him kick Fred out of the house during the end credits of every episode does anyone honestly remember a single time where you saw the Flintstone's cat?
      I guess you could also say that Hanna-Barbera were just kind of infamous for these kinds of mistakes. Remember that Scooby Doo series that featured Scooby Dum? Sometimes they would say that he's Scooby's brother, and other times they'd say he's his cousin! I think there was even one time when Shaggy called him both in the same episode. (I mean, didn't Casey Kasem ever point that out to the voice director?)

    • @bowmaj8666
      @bowmaj8666 7 лет назад +1

      +thirteenfury Well since the Simpsons has been on the air for so long, and because of it's "drifting timeline" as they call it, when they do flashback episodes they're bound to cause inconstancies. So the writers try to get around this by making some self referential humour, which sometimes works but other times it doesn't. For example there was one episode where Homer starts a flashback and states that he can't remember whether it was the 70's or the 80's, and that's kind of funny and it totally fits Homer's character that he probably would forget or just not know what year it was. However they also did the episode with Homer and Marge being young adults during the 90's and Homer starting a grunge band. This episode was panned because it retconned the previous flashback episodes where Homer and Marge first meet, get married and start their family; some of the most popular, funny, charming and just plain beloved episodes all completely swept under the rug for a bunch of lame 90's and Nirvana jokes !

    I agree that Stephen Baldwin played Barney perfectly. His portrayal is more true to the character's personality than Rick Moranis' portrayal. His voice sounded exactly like the cartoon character. The only thing that would have been better for Stephen is if they made his hairstyle more like Barney's.

      Mark Addy had the looks and character down quite well, but I'd still prefer Goodman simply because he gave a more interesting performance in the first film.
      Also, was I the only one who prefers Rick Moranis as Barney? Not that he gave an incredible performance or anything, but I don't remember Barney in the cartoon being as dumb as Baldwin portrays him. Although watching Stephen Baldwin acting stupid just gives me bad memories of Bio-Dome, so I'm probably biased.
      Realistically though, it'd suck to see Goodman, Moranis, or anyone from the first film in this one because it's so obviously a waste of time.

      Annie The Enigma That makes sense but if that's the case why not have him say "I've discovered a meteor/ice age is coming and the dinosaurs won't survive it". Instead he says he's trying to kill them by poisoning their water supply, which doesn't really relate to climate change or animals going extinct naturally.
