I love how you guys go to non-mainstream places in Romania. As a Romanian living in the West (son of immigrants) I never really got to know much about Romania's history or about touristic places. I kinda started learning on my own and I swore I was confident in knowing all places of interest in Romania and their history; but I was definetely wrong as I had no idea about this beautiful citadel.
Yeah. People usually only visit Transylvania or Bucharest, this is pretty much the only channel exploring the other regions, coming from someone living in the Moldovan region countryside
I am from Suceava , and Suceava was the Capital of Moldavia. Stephan The Greatest is our Big Symbol. In Suceava is a big University, I studied economy at Stephan the Great University , there is also handball team : Stephan the Great, and the airport in Suceava is also : Stephan the Great . 😉 That place looks so unique. ❤️👍☝️

Nice you are among the first foreign RUclipsrs that finally show also the historical region of Romania aka Moldova,land of great rulers,biggest Romanian writers,poets,scientists,Nobel prizes,biggest Romanian composer and this list goes on come from Moldova.Almost the entire Romanian literature thought in schools is from Moldova region.Also Iasi was the first Romanian Capital before Bucharest.This part of the country is so underated and you will have alot of success by being among the first RUclipsrs to point it out to the rest of the foreign travelers out there.Good luck with your journeys.

Wooo! Actually, shoutout to Bogdan - he found the place for us, and even paid for it! So, we are not sure the price. But, yes. the tavern was great -- Bogdan and Ivana and I had some wine, some palinca and some vishinata. With the fire rolling in the background. Just great. Would recommend this accommodation!
Guys, if you cross the border to the Republic of Moldova, please visit Milestii Mici winery. It has more than 100 miles of tunnels where they store wine. They also have the biggest wine collection in the world. It is truely something amazing.

Wow.. my favourite video so far... Miclauseni Castle is my wedding place. Cetatea Neamt was not a church, but a bastion/stronghold. Steven the Great was a one of the greatest defenders of christiany for Europe. At Padu Inalt (Vaslui) he obliterated the ottoman army ... it was the worse defeat by the ottoman army in records. Yes, no electricity in the rooms (only in the tavern and in the toilet&showers). My candles went out at about 4am and I suddenly woke up in the dark, in a room half in the ground and after an evening of wine with Ivana and Steve I honestly didn't know where I was. 😀
Wow, warriors, Moldovan landscapes appear to be so very different from Transylvanian ones. They look like two different countries (oops! shouldn't have said that, probably). Seriously, those more western regions you went to were bliss, with their expansive hills and valleys. Some of these Moldovan areas are so surprisingly flat, but gorgeously green and "aromatic", as Ivana was quizzing you about. (That was an ugly word you used, Ivana. At your age, madam, we used to say "Oh! It's a bit fresh in here", and were perfectly understood. "Who cut the cheese?" was another one. ) But, great answer to Ivana, Steve. Very resourceful of you. You very nearly succeeded in exonerating yourself. Quite convincing overall. I don't know now which of either Transylvania or Moldova I wish to be re-incarnated in later on. It's a tough one. I suppose I will get the one I have deserved to get through my behaviour in this, my current life. Did you know that some people in Thailand say that naughty monks get reincarnated as the dogs you usually see hanging round Buddhist monasteries and temples there? Thanks, warriors, wonderful. Well believe it or not Transylvania is the flatter one of the 2 on average, as Moldova it's mostly hilly and mountainous while Transylvania has plenty of flat fields

I don't know if you've tried Romanian Zacusca - you can find the best in almost any food market homemade by old ladies which lies behind the counters! They have a completely different taste than those in supermarkets - which I do NOT even suggest you try! The traditional homemade Zacusca is simply divine - try it and you will find a way to thank me! Health and new adventures - by the way, next year I'm opening a guesthouse in Satu Mare where I'll be waiting for you - kiss you!
The reason the bridge has that shape and is that long, has to do with the fact that most men are right handed. That means they had to wear the shied on the left side, leaving the right side open to the archers in the citadel. If they tried to turn to block arrows with the shield they could not use the right hand, with the sword, efficient and the advance was slow, leaving them longer exposed to archers. Also, the bridge had to be narrow, along with the gates, so fewer men could cross or enter the gates at the same time.
The key to eat mici without using your hand or cutlery is to stab them with 2 toothpicks in a V shape and you hold the base of the V with your fingers.

THIS Moldova is in Romania (the eastern part of Romania). It should not be confused with Republic of Moldova. In medieval times these two lands formed Moldova/Moldavia. Stefan cel Mare was ruler of it, between 1457 and 1504.
Hey @Rtd. Sarawak Guy . There is a region of this area called Moldova -- part of which is in Romania, and the other part of it forms a new country, also called Moldova. It can be a bit confusing, although it's not too different from the Punjab region (which is in India and Pakistan). We talked to one local guy who said this might be one of the reasons that tourism in Moldova (Romanian part) isn't a high as, say Transilvania. So, we wanted to put it in our title to maybe inform some people, if we could.

@warriors: the region that you visited is famous for a culture from neolithical period(stone age)called cucuteni-trypilia(cucuteni is in moldova and trypilia is in serbia)...is famous for half burried round houses....this culture is called old europe civilisation and it was formed before the indo-european invasion(the yamna culture-the theory of famous Maria Gimbutas-the lithuanian researcher of kurgan-yamna culture)...that means the DNA of romanians is VERY OLD..that is why romanians know a lot things about medicinal herbs, natural treatments(like tuica and pepper...LOL),apiculture and how to work the land..all this ancient information was transferred to the first invasion of indo europeans giving birth to a melting pot of cultures called later DACIA...so you are walking on one of the most ancient civilisation of europe (between 5500-2500 BCE)...this cucuteni culture was a culture of agricultural people where woman were leaders and man were listening called matriarhat..the most famous godess of this culture was mother earth who was represented by an old naked fat grandmother representing all the signs of fertility...in those time grandmothers were the leaders..this customs remained in the romanian culture..if you go to visit a traditional romanian family the grandmother is the person that knows everything....

The reason the bridge has that shape and is that long, has to do with the fact that most men are right handed. If they tried to turn to block arrows with the shield they could not use the right hand, with the sword, efficient and the advance was slow, leaving them longer exposed to archers. THIS Moldova is in Romania (the eastern part of Romania). It should not be confused with Republic of Moldova. In medieval times these two lands formed Moldova/Moldavia. Stefan cel Mare was ruler of it, between 1457 and 1504.
Hey @Rtd. Sarawak Guy . There is a region of this area called Moldova -- part of which is in Romania, and the other part of it forms a new country, also called Moldova. It can be a bit confusing, although it's not too different from the Punjab region (which is in India and Pakistan). We talked to one local guy who said this might be one of the reasons that tourism in Moldova (Romanian part) isn't a high as, say Transilvania. So, we wanted to put it in our title to maybe inform some people, if we could.
