    The word "Cascaval" is generally used for yellow cheeses, and we use "Branza" for white cheeses (stuff like feta, cottage cheese). When you get "Branza" you expect it to be extra salty.

    Branza (Cheese) is a fresh product made of fermented milk(cow,goat,sheep,buffalo,etc).Cascaval is salted aged cheese kept in controlled humidity and temperature environment condition. Cascaval is more dense and it has less water, the texture is mostly creamy and it takes some time to get the final product.

    • @ionicafardefrica
      @ionicafardefrica 2 года назад +3

      otherwise said - branza=traditional cheese, not matured over a long time, always made with natural products. The stuff you had at the wedding girl's party a few videos ago. High quality, and usually quite pricey as well. Cascaval=your typical matured cheese, emulating Tom and Jerry cheese with holes (When I said emulating I was being generous, it's artificial and cheap as hell, using industrial processes and fake ingredients to speed the time. But hey, it is what it is)

    Cascaval = Yellow cheese(not salty); Branza = White cheese(usually salty, but not necessarily). They are both generic terms covering multiple types of individual cheese. Sometimes you will find snacks listed with a specific type of cheese, like "telemea" or "urda" or "burduf" etc. You can think of them as sub-categories of branza.

    @poiumty 2 года назад +13

    Cascaval is yellow cheese. Matured or smoked. Branza is white cheese. Many kinds, like telemea or feta.
    Urda (the thing some of those pies had) is cheese made from whey. Soft and crumbly, similar to Ricotta.

    Word of advice. Avoid Fornetti. They are not baked in-place but frozen goods from a factory (it's a franchise). Full of preservatives and other industrial additives. Also cleanness of some Fornetti stores leaves to be desired (there have some old reports about that - might be a thing of the past). Want fresh baked goodies, avoid Fornetti. They just re-heat frozen baked pre-made goods.

    • @eternalflame8104
      @eternalflame8104 2 года назад +2

      Also, their goods are not worth the money. There are other cheaper and better pastry shops that sell sweet baked goods.

      Yes, Fornetti is a franchise and I'm not sure, but I do not think it is a Romanian franchise. And the goods are not baked on the spot, but frozen.

    If you don't try romanian stuffed bell peppers , your life is in vain
    Bell peppers filled with sarmale stuffing, served not with sour cream but with tomato juice

    I was born in Romania and I never saw these foods, but I left the country long time ago. The video at Carul Cu Bere showed lots of classical Romanian foods.

    You guys should try a chicken shaworma from Shaworma Baneasa. You can find it all over Bucharest. Small secret: remember to tell them to add curry sauce and chilli oil with seeds. It’s amazing!! Best in town

    Brânza translates as a generic term for ‘cheese’, whereas cașcaval stands specifically for cheddar cheese.
    Love every single thing you do! Keep up the great work and keep well! Thank you for promoting Romania in such a beautiful way! 😊

    Nice to see you back. You must be verry impressed by the fact that the most of people in Romania can speak english? At least those under 40 years old?By the way, we love to use sour cherry (VISINE) in everything, even in our `visinata`. Is not very popular over the pond.Have a nice trip guys. We also have Mirabelle`s plums (corcoduse), a fruit we use to make a very tasty tuica(rachiu, palinca moonshine).You and Ivana haveknow how to speak Romanian. now you have to learl our anthem and you`ll be a Romanian citisen.More i see yor video, more I will write, sorry. Edit, reedit doesn`t matter, i wish you to be in my home town of Galati to show some thing!?!

    You guys are so lucky; I love the look of those mici; I cannot imagine how good they taste. I have to look for some here in Vancouver. Or for a recipe on RUclips. I would say they go perfectly in those buns, like hot dogs, with mustard and ketchup. 👌👌👌
