So my parents actually hosted a few North Korean diplomats at their home a few years ago. They were all trusted party members that were invited and allowed to leave the country to receive training on agricultural work. We made them dinner and spoke with them (through their translators) for several hours. Very very nice people that were fascinated with the smallest things. Even the two obvious government handlers that had been sent with them, were infatuated with the most seemingly insignificant details and norms of American life. They loved the food (we actually made Thai green curry) and asked as many questions as they could about day to day American life. It was a kind of surreal experience speaking with people that had been so sheltered from modern life in a western country. My dad had actually been to North Korea something around 7 times previously to do this same type of work for the past 10 years, and was given the whole tour and diplomatic treatment, so pretty wild seeing some DPRK folks able to actually fly into the US and visit a random house in a normal town with a regular family.

I had a dream where there was a wall of just really horrible maps. One in particular was a map of Europe, but Norway and Sweden had swapped places (but not shapes) and the thick part of Norway was missing, so there was room in the Baltic Sea for a second, larger Iceland, which was named "Ireland". Also several things were named wrong. Lithuania was named "Adriatic", Poland was named "USSR", and Ukraine was named "Jerusalem on the Hill". I do not know what that means. Also Germany was water.
In my dream, I wanted to take a photo of this map so I could study it more when I woke up, but my phone was too heavy.

I'm pretty sure the reason blizzard servers have only Japan and korea and the others as part of the Asian servers is because in StarCraft 2 the Koreans are built a little different you could say, so in order to let there be at least some competition in other continents they kinda quarantine them
Don't they have videogame rehabs over there for this very reason too?

10:42 As a spanish, the term we use for someone from the United States it's , which would be the spanish equivalent of saying 'unitedstatesians' but having actual sense. America is the whole continent from Argentina to Canada, South America and North America doesn't exist as continents, they are subcontinents + Central America (El Salvador, Guatemala, etc). I think this is how it works in other latin european countries (America being the continent). In spanish is for someone of an american country, and for someone of the EEUU (USA). This works more for younger generations rather than the older ones, despite the fact that the term have always been around. We may associate sometimes the term with the EEUU due to movies, but nowadays we use to translate it more, hence changing one term for the other. The average hispano american (as far as I know brazilian don't care that much about it) will get annoyed if you use american to differentiate between an estadounidense and them, and in Spain we understand it so we get annoyed too.
It's the same for Portuguese and French speaking countries
But it's true that for Brazilians and the French speaking world this different is less important

They're definitely different continents in English they're on different Continental plates. There's the north American continental plate and the south American continental plate, Continental plates implying different continents.

I have worked for a foreign embassy as their communications & media relations specialist and social media consult. It was one of the most interesting jobs I have had in my life, I gained so much insight in what the work of diplomats and ambassadors really is about. It made me feel special to be on a first name basis with the ambassador hehe :D The flip side of the diplomacy work is that they are often uprooted and moved to another foreign country, and they have to know and read up on so much information about the country they get placed in, everything from politics and history to even hyperlocal culture practices.

My guess for the last one: Iran, India and Afghanistan all have time zones with half-hour offsets, so I'm guessing the last image was made an image where countries were coloured differently depending on time zone, and they meant to merge all layers and give them the same colour, but forgot to include the layers for these three special ones.

North Korea should have been red aswell because you are not allowed to travel inside the country without special permision, i.g. fo politicians who are loyal to kim. Allthough in the Constitution a freedom of travel is implemented.

Canada, the USA, the UK, Germany, France, Japan, Korea, Switzerland, Portugal all have words for americans similar to American not "united statian" (Because they teach 2 continents, North and South America)
And I just checked, even Mexico teaches there are 2 continents. North and South America. This is fairly recent though. I checked the SEP's textbooks (Secretaria de Educacion Publica or Secretariat of Public Education) and the 1997 book does say it was only 1 continent (America) but the 2007 textbook says it's 2 continents (North and South America) so I'm guessing younger Mexicans say it's two continents while older ones says it's only one
