This is an extremely useful video!! Well done & thank you! I am post op 13 days. Truly listen to your body. Rest, rest & rest! Your body will reward you each day with more stamina. I made dinner & did a load of laundry, my body said done. I laid down for a couple of hours. Then was able to do another 40 minutes of activity. But then had to lay down again. Next day, I could do 15 minutes more at a time & so on. Lastly, the gas! Kristina is correct. Passing gas & 1st BM can be nerve wracking. After my c-section years ago, I had a fantastic nurse who gave me the best trick to pass gas & go smoothly & without discomfort. Ginger ale & caffeinated tea. Put ginger ale in microwaveable cup, Stir out bubbles, put tea bag in ginger ale for about a minute. Repeatedly drink this combo until you go. Usually a cup an hour or 2. Works for me like a charm. My bowels moved 24 hours after surgery. #bestwishesforspeedyrecovery

Thank you! Do you nuke the ginger ale for a minute and then put in the teabag to steer for a minute? Or just put in the teabag and nuke them both? Thank you!

You are a sweet, beautiful woman. This is the first video I've watched of several on my list and now I'm afraid the rest will pale in comparison. I very much appreciate how real and honest you are. My husband and I are empty nesters and your advice on showering at first and how many days I'll need someone with me is especially helpful. I wouldn't have thought to ask to take any undies home. I hope my hospital here in the states offers those too. I'll be sure to eat healthy, rest, and pick up juice and tea, but only drink clear liquids up to 4 hrs before surgery. Thank you so much for sharing everything!

All I would add is...from my last nights experience...if you begin to cough...ugggg...crab a pillow and hold it against your incision....that pain was worse than the actual surgery pain ❤️ Happy healing all 🥰😘👍🏼👍🏼

Thank you so much Kristina for your kind advice. I can relate to a lot you say. I am on day 10 post op of a total abdominal hysterectomy. I was in severe pain up to a few days ago. Felt like I had a bag of sand or sandpaper in my lower abdomen, which was being twisted around. Never felt such intense pain in all my life! It was coming intermittently as contractions. Had to get stronger pain medication from my doctor. Don’t mean to scare anyone but just wanted to share my experience. Starting to feel a lot better now and walking about doing light things around the house gradually. Yes good food and rest is key to a healthy recovery. Watched a lot of videos and all I can say is that we are all so different in how we heal. I say to others out there, don’t feel pressured in recovering in ‘record time’, it’s no race. Slow but sure you will get there. Taking it easy and listening to your body is important. One step at a time. Thank you again for sharing such practical and useful information. I hope you are now fully recovered and feel on top of the world!😀👍.

    Great video☺️
I am now on my 1st month after hysterectomy.
We had the same experience, oh my gosh the worst of it was really the gas pain 1st day up to 2nd day after the procedure...was really hard to pass the gas!
But I was so thankful for not having the hard time to poop 2 days after the surgery. OATMEAL helped me a lot because of its richness in fiber. Drink warm water instead of cold water I think it helped me a lot too.☺️
Now thank God I'm recovered but still have in my mind not to lift, push or pull anything heavy.Bending waist is not yet okay.
Had some night sweats a week after the surgery, I thought it was just because of the hot weather 😂

I'm on day 4 after my hysterectomy and everything you've said is what I'm experiencing. I'm so pleased that I'm on track. Definitely true about the good food eating. My body is craving vegetables, nuts and fresh fruits. I'm just going with it. The other thing I'm finding very helpful is all the surgery healing meditations on RUclips. I'm finding it's helping me with pain and relaxation. As I'm normally super active, sitting around is very frustrating for me. The meditations have helped enormously. All the best to everyone who has had the surgery. Not fun but necessary.

So my muscles are cramping and spasming big time. Im able to do arm movements which help my upper body and back and also booty squeezes, keigals and bridges helped my lower back and legs and also aids in the straightening of the pelvic floor muscles. This and walking is all I've been able. And allowing myself to do lol

Great video!!! I am now 18 days post op and we had similar experiences! My surgery was at 1pm and my nurse had me up and walking by 10pm. At first I did not like that idea, however I think that is the reason I had absolutely no problems with gas pains!!! They removed 5lbs of fibroids out of my 115lb body!!!! I was so fearful before the surgery, partially because I watched too many videos. I only took Motrin for the first week at home, now I am only taking a muscle relaxer at night to sleep. And my compression underwear have been my best friend!!! I wish I would've done this surgery years ago!!! Hope you continue to heal well!!!

Symone Kennedy, my doctor told me ahead of time that he would remove the majority of gas and not to worry. I was skeptical after hearing all the RUclips videos. But he did a great job and I have had minimal gas pain. Day 2, I took mineral oil to help having a bowel movement.

Toivonia Williams Hang in there! It’s all worth it... the pain will go away and you will feel amazing! I barely remember I had the surgery. No lasting side effects, only positive things. I’m so much slimmer, fit into my old jeans, and I work out as much as I want, no restrictions of weight lifting or cardio. I also have so much more energy than before. I Don’t get tired as easy. Also- NO MORE PERIOD! 🎉 it’s like a distant bad memory 😂
You will love it once the pain is gone!!!

@@kristinaelliott8335 how long after your surgery were you able to go back to your normal workouts? Before my surgery I did very intense HIIT and weight workouts so I know that will take a while to get back into bc they would push my body even when I was fully healthy.

    • @kristinaelliott8335
      @kristinaelliott8335  4 года назад

Karen Popp For me it took me two months before I could do my regular workouts. Might be longer for you as yours are so intense. Listen to your body. Some ppl it takes them a year. Depends if you have side effects or complications. My healing was really smooth and very quick. Don’t push yourself if you feel you’re not fully healed. It’s not worth jeopardizing your health or recovery 😉

Your story is encouraging and it helps me to mentally prepare what to expect. I've watched other videos on RUclips and got even more nervous after watching them. Thank you so much for telling about your experience. I just had my surgery yesterday. I had so much gas in my body.sharp pain especially on my shoulders. 😩 The first day for me was terrible. I took some charco pills to help with gas. It really helped. I stayed one night at the hospital. The second night I slept home upright on my bed. Massage and hot pads on shoulders. Lots of hot tea. Light meals for first days.
