    I used to love Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas when I was younger, but after rewatching it last Christmas I never realized how mean-spirited, annoying, and poorly animated the movie really is. The original Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas is fine, but did we really need a sequel???

      Emus aren't as chill as strider says. Usually you only see them at zoos or farms unless you live in the bush and if they're not familiar with people they can be dangerous. They're more likely to run away than fight you but they've got long sharp claws and can easily disembowel a red kangaroo if they're cornered.
      It's also pretty frightening to have them eat out of your hand the first time, just the idea of a bird being bigger than you is pretty freaky as a kid. They're about as smart as chickens, so you don't want make too many sudden movements around them.

    Honestly, the biggest problem the House of Mouse Christmas Special suffers is, when you stop and think about it... being snowed in should've been absolutely no problem at all. 1, you've got both Genie and Jafar, both of whom have magic that could easily clear away or melt the snow. 2, Hades, a guy with hair literally made of fire, is there too.
    And those are just the most obvious characters who come to mind that could easily solve the problem.
    Being snowed in shouldn't have been an issue at all for anyone at the House of Mouse during that special

    I too also found Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas a little messed up. The characters are obviously outta place. First, Daisy sabotages Minnie's performance on ice when really she should've bee supporting Minnie. Second, Donald just wants peace and quiet but suffers, and third, Mickey gets angry at Pluto and throws him out for an accident he didn't mean to do even when he was sorry for it? What the MARC? The only thing I do find pretty awesome is the story Christmas Maximus where Max brings home his girlfriend to meet Goofy. I really love Max's girlfriend Mona in there. Mona is impressed by pictures of Max doing extreme sports like that biking and stuff but also really adored by Max's baby pictures and kid pictures. I even love how she joins Goofy n the goofiness. Despite the popcorn machine going haywire and making the house blow out popcorn with Max Mona and Goofy flying out. I even love the scene where Mona and Goofy both kiss Max and both really love him.

But since the CGI was still kind of new to Disney at the time, or at least fully CGI films, they couldn't use characters with long hair because of how plastic it looked. It's kind of like the early production process of the show "Reboot." Anyway, they decided to just make a brand new character to act as Max's girlfriend. Granted I don't why they couldn't just have Roxanne get a haircut and leave it at that, but whatever.

    Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse, is a spin-off movie from the show House of Mouse. The premise of the show is Mickey and friends run a night club for all the different Disney characters. The show plays similarly to the Muppet Show. A show is put on for the guests while something is going on backstage. And yes, the cartoons are all re-runs of old cartoons, but for a kid who has never seen them before, they are practically new. Plus, it was so cool seeing all of the different Disney characters interacting with each other. Sometimes a guest character would get involved in the backstage antics, or would be the focus of said antics. I will say though that the movie doesn’t use the guest characters as much as the show did. Regardless, I still love this movie
    On a related note, have you seen Mickey’s House of Villains? I was another DVD movie that, in my opinion, is the better of the two House of Mouse movies

    Orphan’s Benefit was Clarence Nash’s 2nd performance as Donald ever. This is also the first ever Donald anger fit. After this, Nash got a better handle of it and developed the voice into what we know today. We wouldn’t have the Donald voice we know and love without some trial and error coming first.

    • @thesladesterb3vt3co7h

      Well, Orphans Benefit technically was a total remake to a 1934 Black and White Mickey Mouse cartoon (Donald Duck's 2nd appearance after 'The Wise Little Hen'), with almost no changes being made to it at all. It was unnecessary to remake it, imo. They even recycled the dialogue from the original. I can excuse Disney for that though, because you have to remember that they were on a animators strike at the time.

    • @Jo-ey5cb
      @Jo-ey5cb 6 лет назад +5

      SonicShadow98 They kept all the same 1934 audio though, except for Donald’s last line because by that time, “Oh phooey!” had become his established catchphrase. But other than that, all the voice acting is the same exact recording from 1934.

    • @thesladesterb3vt3co7h
      @thesladesterb3vt3co7h 6 лет назад +3

      Kellie C Agreed. They recycled the audio from the original, except for Donald's last line in the end of the 1941 version.

    • @PoloNeckMusic
      @PoloNeckMusic 5 лет назад +1

      I agree with Kellie C. The original 1934 black and white version of ‘ORPHAN’S BENEFIT’ was the first teaming of Mickey, Donald and Goofy together. It also marked the debut appearance of CLARA CLUCK... an operatic hen who appeared in a few 1930’s Disney shorts and then disappeared. Within a few years, Donald took over from Mickey as Disney’s main character. The best Mickey cartoons in my opinion are the ones from the late 1930’s where Donald and Goofy are featured as well. ‘LONESOME GHOSTS’, ‘CLOCK CLEANERS’ and ‘BOAT BUILDERS’ are good examples.

True that the first time I had seen Mickey Clubhouse was actually not until I was an adult while the other show I had first seen from my childhood, but I think that Mickey Clubhouse was primarily aimed for little kids instead of older people while House of Mouse in contrast could be more entertaining for both grown ups and children alike. True that Mickey Clubhouse is meant to be educational, but there are definitely other Mickey Mouse shows far more entertaining to watch for older people.

This is coming from the same person who thinks Cars is pretty damn good. So he decides to leave the Disney studio to find himself again, and joining him for the ride is Woody from "Toy Story", who tries to convince Mickey that animation isn't about how you look artistically, but rather it matters about your story telling capabilities.

    Important question about the House of Mouse Christmas episode: uh, I don't think everyone there would be celebrating Christmas. There's Greek gods and miscellaneous. They were before Christ. Mulan characters are Chinese, and I also believe the movie takes place before Christ. Aladin and company are Indian. They worship Hindu gods (probably). The Lion King bunch are animals, and while they're intelligent animals, they still behave like animals, for the most part.
    Beauty and the Beast, Robin Hood, and Cinderella are the only movies I could see actually celebrating Christmas, besides The Nightmare Before Christmas, and the Mickey crew, obvs. I don't think Robin Hood is even there.

    • @BirbMom
      @BirbMom 6 лет назад +33

      One correction: Aladdin and crew aren't Indian. They're Arabic. Therefore, they would probably be Muslim rather than Hindu so therefore, they would probably worship Allah. But yeah, everything else is spot on.

      @Myers-Girl 6 лет назад +28

      In Aladdin, the Sultan literally says "praise Allah" so yeah he's not Christian. As for the villians, I don't see how a holiday about goodwill and charity would be their thing at all. I like the idea of Robin Hood (and Friar Tuck) being there and maybe some of the Peter Pan characters too.

Yeah the overall plot with Donald being in a bad mood isn't all that great, but I do remember really enjoying this as a compilation. I personally think there are worse Mickey cartoons and shorts out there. I think one of the worst ones is an old black and white short with a huge downer of an ending.
    I can’t remember the name of it, but there’s one where Mickey takes Minnie to a dance, but it ends with Minnie rejecting Mickey, and she dances with Pete instead. (Pete sexually harassed her in nearly every cartoon, it feels wrong to see her choose Pete over Mickey.) We are then forced to watch Mickey cry, The End. Even for old cartoon standards, that was just awful, it wasn’t funny or entertaining at all.
    Minnie was made to be Mickey’s girlfriend, making a short that ends with Minnie dumping Mickey and dating his arch enemy was just unpleasant to watch. At least it was a very old short, and Mickey and Minnie had more pleasant to watch cartoons after that.

    Honestly, Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas is a guilty pleasure of mine...
    I also thought the animation was actually ok...
    And yes, some of the characters are unlikable in it, but I can still find a way to enjoy it (mainly because I used to watch it a lot in my childhood and I have a thing for mean spirited comedy like that, but I do prefer the Once Upon a Christmas over this)
    EDIT 08/08/18: At least the animation on TUAC doesn’t look like Rudolph and the Island of Misfit Toys (I’m not kidding when I say the animation on that looks like badly rendered PS1 game cutscenes)

      It's the episode where Donald trades his pet chicken for magic beans, then when finding out they really are magic and he actually did get a good deal out of it, he and the others still go to the giant's house and break in so they can steal the chicken back. Granted, in the end, the giant is very understanding and gives the chicken back, but still.

Fiery Joker had to review a few G3 stuff and he knew right away that today's version of the show (Friendship is Magic is G4 btw) is miles upon miles better than G3 could hope to be. Seriously, we're getting more adventure plots and better relatable situations with G4 than with the God awful G3

      Me too. The voices makes me wanted to bang my head on the wall and the floor when they sing thus the screams almost made me deaf that even astronauts can hear it. By the way, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is my childhood but not my cup of tea. Why? Because it ruined the original counterparts of the Mickey Mouse cartoons. I don believe the Clubhouse takes place on an alternate universe.

      @ginogatash4030 6 лет назад +2

      Macanbdloo11 that's like, the hole fucking point of the character, a duck with short temper that doesn't get what he wants, that's the comedy of his character! it's slapstic comedy about his misery! just like Squidward only he is also a delusional hack who believes he's the greatest artist who ever lived, making comedy out of someone's misery is not enherently bad, it's made to make people laugh while feeling for the character.
      why are you all so thin skinned?

    • @WarmLusamine
      @WarmLusamine 6 лет назад +2

      There exists a concept called "taking something too far".

    • @ginogatash4030
      @ginogatash4030 6 лет назад

      it's a cartoon, it needs to be exagerated, if it was scientifically measured it wouldn't be fun.
      plus there's no "too much" in Squidward's bad luck, it's very standard, the problem might ensue when it is slapstick for the sake of it, it's not "cruel" just uneffective, cause if the character doesn't have some kind of grumpy or selfish characterization, or any at all establieshed, it's just boring.
      take Daffy Duck for example: he wants fame and money and he has a very huge ego, and it's because of that ego that he gets himself into trouble, that's why it's so funny when he fails, you don't hate him, but it's not like he's a goodie two shoes either, same can be said about other characters such as Squidward, he's a grumpy delusional artist who acts like a smart ass, so it's fun to watch him fail at accomplishing what he wants, Donald Duck is not and innocent baby either, he has serious anger issues wich is why he has such a bad luck.
      in the end, what i'm trying to say is, characters don't need to be all good and happy, same for the things that happend to them, because that would obviously be boring.

    • @Macandbloo11
      @Macandbloo11 6 лет назад +2

      Gillberto Astanio But lately, some of the luck Donald's been having has come off as unjustified and mean-spirited. Like the first episode of The Legend of the three Caballeros involving Donald losing his home, his job, and Daisy dumping him all on his birthday. And Donald didn't do anything to deserve that.
      And your right. We do want to see these characters go through this stuff because of their mean-spirited actions because it's cathartic and funny. But only when they do these actions.

    • @ginogatash4030
      @ginogatash4030 6 лет назад

      Macandbloo i honestly think you have a very thin skin if that bothers you so much, The Legend of the three cabaleros is fine, IT'S A CARTOON, it's meant to be EXAGGERATED, it's not a tragic real-life story, in cartoons (comedic ones) you want to make things absurd, you made it sound way more tragic than it probably is.
      also these kinds of characters don't have to be mean, sometimes shit just happends to them and shiy gets worse because of how badly they handle the situations they're in, thus it's funny.

    Quick note on the subject of "Orphan's Benefit":
    The short was originally created in black and white in 1934 and was the second ever appearance of Donald Duck after the Silly Symphony short "The Wise Little Hen". In roughly 1939, a project was in the works titled "Mickey's Revival Party". The characters in the film were said to have gone to a theater and interacted with the cartoons as they were being shown. "Orphan's Benefit" was one of the shorts planned to be featured, and the color remake shown here (eventually released on its own in 1941) was the only trace of the scrapped project we got.

    The House of Mouse was just a fun series meant to bring together every Disney animated movie character together and have them interact with each other. It was basically what Disney is doing now with Ralph Breaks the Internet, and I enjoyed watching those cartoons as a kid especially since my favorite Disney characters were all in one room.
