I’m glad you mentioned Tinkerer’s channel. Another great Toyota resource. Both his channel and yours help push me over the edge to get a GX460. Now time for a collaboration with Tinkerer’s.
@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD worse in person for sure! I probably never would have tried it if I saw it in person first. Videos really don’t do it justice IMO
I added a arb air-locker to my SR5 only to realize its almost completely unnecessary. 4LO and A-Trac will get the job done. Sure I can lock the rear diff in 2WD, 4HI and 4LO of course but there’s not many times when I do. I actually think the locker makes you slide sideways in some loose conditions that I wouldn’t have if it was off. Anyway I’m always happy to have the air compressor required for the locker for airing up and the locker will be a selling feature if that day ever comes …..just try and pry the 4R keys from my cold dead hands 😂

SIMPLE QUESTION: I want a 2024 Toyota 4Runner... the ONLY off-roading I plan to do is beach driving on soft sand for beach surf fishing ( that is it!) I am a die hard beach surf fisherman. The rest of the time it will be a glorified SUV for the family. WIll a stock SR5 do ( perhaps with upgraded tires at minimum ) ?
Not really. The GX is more capable stock. Having previously owned a SR5 4runner I would compare it more to a Grand Cherokee than a GX. They can certainly Offroad but the SR5 isn't a Lexus GX. I'd take a low mileage CPO GX @$50k over a new SR5 4runner at $45k any day. As stated in the video if you want a "Lexus at Toyota prices" you gotta bump up the trim level to over $50k and at that point why buy the Toyota?
@@dj_86barely, and people that actually Offroad their GX don't keep it stock, they remove the running boards and cut the front and rear bumpers about 6" or get a steel front bumper. Even with slightly less ground clearance it's still superior.
NOTHING complicated about it--- it comes down to go 4x4 driving--- and YOU drive it yourself-- or a dumbass robotic program pretty much drives it FOR you....and that's it.

That'd be a Marvel Cinematic Universe level crossover !
Great info! I'm new to the 4runner world...just got my first 4runner, 2021 SR5 and love it! Thanks for the detailed off road info.
Thank you for watching and for subscribing 🙏 ❤️ 😃
Just bought a 2023 GX. Came out of a 2016 SR5 4Runner. I took that 4Runner on significant trails a few times a year.
I took my stock SR5 on Black Bear Pass in Colorado and it did great. Now I have added a 3” lift to get better clearance. They can definitely off road
Thank you for your feedback and sharing your evidence ❤️ Is the drop-off at Black Bear Pass as scary ad it looks on video???

@Calvin Vesco thank you. Did you feel safe or did you feel like you could fall over the edge?
@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD I felt safe. My wife didn’t lol. If you take it slow and pay attention you shouldn’t have any problems

Music choice is fire
Took my 2020 4Runner SR5 premium 4x4 for the first time off road and it handled beautifully
No doubt! Excellent vehicle you have 😃
Thanks for the info. Would have never thought of disconnecting the sway bar. Brilliant! Still I'm Holding out for a L-Certified used GX.
Are you searching online or local dealers?

I passed on a certified 6y/unlimited 2022 luxury gx with 7k miles back in December

and ill take an old 470 at auction prices and put about 10k in it and drive it till the wheels fall off

It’s the high selling vehicle of two worlds. 1/2 Tacoma and half Prado
excellent point 😀

Can a 4Runner go off-road?
