I so love the fact that Michelangeli played several works of Haydn :-)
There are so many pianists that they never even studied one work of Haydn. That is not good, Haydn was such a great composer.

As a matter of fact, he played only two piano concertos, not much for a composer who wrote more than 50 piano sonatas... anyway, these two concertos are played superbly.

well not even close, but higher in terms of music-emotional expression...Everything you hear in his music appears later in Motzart and in Beethoven even more...Beethoven admired J.H. and devoted several works to him.

Buiten enkele indrukwekkende details, is deze uitvoering één van de zovele ijskoude, antipathieke realisaties van Benedetti.

nothing less than sheer " cold " music . if you are in need of any schmaltzy
tearjerker choose a different music-channel . embarking on michelangeli
means straightforward abnegation of any sentimentality , yes even of any
interpretation whatsoever . listening to michelangeli imparts the experience
of a miracle : music by itself !
