I did the same thing. This did not change the performance or gas mileage. This made it a tad louder but much deeper sound. Now you can hear the rumble when cruising. Very easy to do.
I can absolutely 100% tell you that this mod not only works but it makes the note perfect. Nice and thumpy at idle, just loud enough to hear the engine while riding, it's perfect. A+

I had done this with my '21 scout..sounds great! Only issue i had was the hole saw came loose from the extension and got stuck in the pipe. After about 30 minutes of fishing for it with a flexible 24" mechanical pickup tool I finally pulled to saw out and then the cut baffle 🤣
Ordered my Scout Bobber 20 a few weeks ago. Can’t wait to get it in. May have to try this since I live in California and none of the exhausts I want will ship here.
I have a scout bobber too and next to my husbands dark horse mine sounds like a dang sewing machine 😂 lol I’ve been researching options to give it some edge since it looks so cool 😎 but sounds lame stock. 😅 I love it though, I’m a new rider and it’s my first bike so I’ll always love it. Thank you for a very entertaining and informative video. I called my Indian dealership. To ask them if removing the baffles off the exhaust pipes can void my warranty. The service manager said that it will void the warranty. So maybe I will wait.
But they still look like massive potato cannons. I went with the V&H Slashcuts, and yes, they were harsh. I added the quiet baffles and I am very pleased.

@@RemboUSMC also Im running standard rear shocks and i 3 full turns down on the preload so im not picking up the rubber stopper with my spine any more and lowered tyre pressure to 38 psi to smooth the ride out.. works well...

hey man nice one but you forgot something really important: you drilled into an exhaust pipe which creates metal dust that can travel back to the engine and cause lots of problems for you and the people who are copying you. I know you made a disclaimer but you should at least disclaim that too, correct thing is to remove the whole thing and vacuum any residual metal.
I bought the freedom 2-1 combat for my 2021.... but there are no tunes for it yet or at least that what dynojet told me so I can’t install them on yet. So this helps for now.
Love it, but how I can’t stand those Torpedo looking stock exhausts lol, and how they weigh about 13 pounds each from what I’m hearing. Waiting for my 2021 jade smoke scout bobber to come in, I ordered it a week ago. Already have my new exhaust sitting in a box. Cant wait!
Isn't this basically the same mod as punching a hole with a rebar? One of the oldest exhaust modifications out there? The baffle itself is still in the bike but you just open a bigger hole for more bass.
Great video. I have a ‘20 Bobber w the factory 2 into 1 w intake upgrade and tune. My nephew has a ‘21 Scoutw the OEM dual exhaust - stock. He is doing the baffle mod today. I don’t remember. I was hit head on with that bike and it was totaled. I do know that I changed over to Michelin from the stock tires that didn’t last very long at all and I was very happy with the Michelin
I certainly don't mean to be smart but I'm guessing, to check the manual. If your doing as it states, then I'd think the "Stator," which charges the battery of possibly the rectifier is bad. Google how to check the stator, usually pretty easy on a Honda Shadow anyway. Hope you the best!
@@mikelmc2509 It matters. You might not see me when you're looking down at your phone but you will hear me as long as you aren't deaf. It makes a difference fairly often. If I wanted to play the bad boy role, I'd use the V&H Slash Cuts. Those things are loud enough to sterilize your neighborhood.
If you just remove the end cap with a torx key then bore out a couple of the baffles. The end result improved the sound but it still handled like the p.o.s, it is. Back to the GS for me.
Nah, still don't like that sound. I mounted a Miller slip ons, I think is a good compromise between a good and not deafening sound. I'd really like mount the Bassani tho...but I think my ears won't handle them
When you take the caps off you'll find out Indian has welded the whole thing shut. There is no way to access the inside of the stock mufflers short of cutting them open.
@@omegachar4754 Can’t agree, as I accessed my Stage 1 pipes and removed fibreglass wrapping as I explained. My Scout is a 2015 Build so maybe Indian welded at later productions ?
@@karlmittmann6657 I think you're confused. We're talking about the stock pipes being welded shut, not the stage 1 pipes which you're talking about. I also have a set of stage 1 pipes and they can have the caps and internals taken off and out by removing screws. Long story short: stock pipes are welded shut, stage 1 pipes are not.

Did this years ago on a Honda Shawdow - worked like a champ. Going to do it this weekend to my wife's Scout Sixty.

I chose to run shorty straight pipes. And I love it. No other bike sounds like these straight piped.
Does running on straight pipes change the back pressure on the engine?

The main reason I changed to my Mavrick Crusher slip ons was to get rid of the long ugly stock mufflers. Making it loud as hell was a side benefit.
The length is a serious downer. I don't know why they wanted such long slip-ons on this bike.

Good point. The pipe blows out so when you start it, everything comes out. This is not an intake, at which point, would be critical to clean.

Did you try to take those screws out and remove the whole entire baffle before you drilled it out.?
That cap is for aesthetics only and does not open up the muffler. It is just a simple cap.

pull both Baffles out
Remove Fibreglass wrapping around both Baffles
Re Install.
