    my scout 60 check engine light came on after 6 months and it was caused by the inferior battery that comes with these bikes, so I got a new one at Batteries Plus and the problem was solved. I just took the loss on the OEM battery and got rid of the headache. now she starts up like a charm, just one little touch on the starter button and she fires right up. If you are using the same hose for all three octane you will get almost a gallon of what ever was pumped last before you get what you paid for. So if you "top off" your tank you may just be adding low octane fuel.

    • @RickyBobber
      @RickyBobber  2 года назад

      I've wonder about that before. That's interesting

  • @4244john
    @4244john 2 года назад +1

    You need to put it on a battery charger/maintainer that is for AGM batteries. I bought one off o Reilly that’s for lead/acid and lithium using it still killed my battery even if I left it plugged. I managed to “restart” my agm oem battery by connecting it to a charged agm battery and running the charge on the good battery. I haven’t had a problem since I switched to a battery tender that also charged agm batteries.
    There’s a section on the scout bobbers owners manual specifically calling for chargers/maintainers that charge agm batteries.

    rickey fyi as far as octane i installed fuel tanks in the past heres one thing u might not know if your at a single handle pump with three or more octanes on it and the person before u put in 87 and your next and u go to put 91 or higher in your tank it usually takes about a gallon and a half to flush that 87 out of the line before u start getting 91 so with a 3.3 tank u can do the math i always go to a pump that has a handle for each octane thanks for vids looking at same bike also we have the same taste with acc thanks

      No , they denied it. I had to buy a aftermarket one.. I found out when I got home and tried to plug it in.. but the quality of the one that comes with the bike is way better. The aftermarket ones are more stiff kinda plastic-ish, that’s probably why they took,, to use on a older model that didn’t come with it

      My factory one is a part of the harness, it’s not easily removed without taking the entire harness off. You sure you don’t have a older scout that doesn’t have it, I believe they didn’t add it until the 2019 or 2020 model year.

    “… the business doesn’t work, a-hole. Screw the a-hole children you have. [inaudible], rats, son of a B…” - Random person, 2022
    That’s pretty cool that it comes with an SAE plug! I bought the same battery tender for my Beta. Since the charger can do both Lithium and lead acid, it works great for multiple types of batteries.
    In regards to the check engine light, did the bike come with an adapter to hook up an OBD2 scanner? My Beta came with one. Mine came on once and I was able to check the code and clear it.
    Gas octane is the rated ability of gas to resist detonation in an engine. The higher the compression ratio of the engine, the higher the octane it needs. That’s why regular cars/trucks only need 87, because the compression isn’t too high. Versus a motorcycle/high performance car, which tend to have higher compression.
    Engines have knock sensors which will detect detonation and can lower the ignition timing, which is done to save the engine.
    That’s a very simple explanation and probably not the best (I just woke up, haha).
    Anyhow, keep up the great work! Really enjoy the videos. I hope to get a Scout one day too! Cheers!

    Thank you so much. I've been looking at the Indian Scout at a local dealership and the sales men do not know anything its really sad you ask a question and the reply is I don't know I'm new well guess what so I am I thanks to people like you like yourself I know more than the sales person. Its really sad it at all the dealership I read the reviews for the Dallas / FW area they are no better. So you want to make a commission on the sale but you don't really know anything to tell me about the bike what has happen to our society and its not just one person its all the salesman there. They are young I give then credit for working but do your homework even the people behind the service counter nothing. I did ask to speak to the technician oh we have to ask him
    that would be ok if you understood what I was asking. Yes I owned Harley's but I really would like an Indian Scout but the service turns me off. Thanks to you I think I go back up there and tell a few details on the bike.

    93 octane is the highest there?? 91 is our lowest here (in NZ, still costs about 3 bucks a liter - 3.75 liters per gallon, you do the maths) but we get 95 an 98 also. Over 12 bucks a gal for 98 if you work it out. My little trumpy trident is basically paying for itself right now by saving me about 80 bucks a week in gas. It's heading into winter but hey.. ya gotta be rolling in it to travel in warmth and dry comfort in this end of the world.
    But anyway, what about that Johnny Depp shit on the TV? How about that?? Isn't it amazing??? Farrrkk.. glad we got something real to focus on. Scuse the sarcasm... but fuck me! Incredible!
