    Some people, even owners, don't know this about the Scout Bobber either, but every one of them has a charging port to hook up to a battery tender. It is tucked behind the ignition cover. You can access easily just by reaching behind it. The dealer failed to mention this to me, so I hooked up the cable that came with my new batter tender and fished it from the battery out the left side of my bike. I happen to be looking around and seen a cable tucked in behind the ignition cover that looked exactly like the battery tender cable that I just hooked to the battery, sure enough, there is already one prewired into the bike. From what I have found out, every Indian comes with a charging port.

      Oh dang! I'll have to look. Thanks!

    • @bradsonnicksen6907
      @bradsonnicksen6907 2 года назад

      That one is actually an accessory plug - for the Bobbers that have a USB charging port on the speedo housing. For battery tender, you should be using the one below the seat. Sure, it may work, but that's not what it's designed for, and you may damage your electronics by introducing power into a port that is designed to SUPPLY power.

    • @Fooshbadacadoosh
      @Fooshbadacadoosh 2 года назад +3

      Bull!!! So you tell me that the battery tender wiring I just installed under my seat was irrelevant cause there was wires already installed!!!! The hell man!

    • @Sandman1832
      @Sandman1832 2 года назад +1

      @@Fooshbadacadoosh I felt the same way when I seen the cable 😂. I was agitated over the whole thing, because like I said, the person who went over the entire bike with me at the dealership never mentioned that the bike already had a charging cable. He just recommended for me to get a battery tender for it.
      What was even more agitating, was the owners manual even shows and tells where it is located on page 106 under the Maintenance section and under Battery Charging. They call the cable The Battery Charge Port/Heated Gear Plug. I went over the entire manual when I got it and frickn overlooked that part somehow 🤦‍♂. Felt like a complete ass.

    • @Sandman1832
      @Sandman1832 2 года назад +7

      @@bradsonnicksen6907 You read my post completely wrong. I never even mentioned the USB port on the speedo at all. I specifically stated that the BATTERY charging port on the Scout Bobber is tucked in behind the ignition cover and that I found out that every Indian comes with a charging port.

I should get one as close to the end product I envision as possible, not to mention I figured you get more bang for your buck with an Indian Scout Bobber as opposed to an Iron 1200. 6 gears, more power, a classic, yet modern design and handsome colors. You can and I have seen people put a padlock through that hole to lock the bars, but that’s not how it’s intended to be used. I have no idea why but every bike in the scout line up not sold in the U.S. gets the actual lock that’s permanently attached in that machined area, and uses the ignition key to lock/unlock.
    There are also a few other things that’s scouts sold outside of the U.S. get that we don’t. If you really did want the proper lock you can order the international lock set from Indian, It’s about 180 bucks. You get a new set of keys, fuel cap, ignition cylinder, and the steering lock. It does require disassembly of the triple tree to install though. That’s a project I plan to do this winter to my scout, but I’m waiting for the OEM tachometer to become available so I can order them at the same time, and save on shipping. Good video.

    On the bobber, the radiator debree shiend is also plastic and the lock yoles are for the self canceling turn signals. The only lock that would actually fit would be those luggage zipper locks. I have tried.

    • @modernpilot233
      @modernpilot233 10 месяцев назад

      Those holes are for adding the steering stem lock which does not come factory equipped. The turn signals self cancel via the inclinometer inside the ECU.

      @RossGoneRogue 8 месяцев назад

      I was trying to figure out if there was a way to use it as well. A zipper lock would be pretty pointless to me. If Indian wanted to save money how come they couldn't just put a hole into the upper section too like Harley's do so you can just put a padlock on it is beyond me.

    let's be honest, you could say 72,000 cc and people would buy it, they have no idea what a cc is. I'm impressed there's no plastic, I thought the headlight cowl was. The European, Australian, and Asian (India) version of the Scout Bobber actually have a lock like the Harley (and my GSXR). The holes are there but the actual keyed lock is missing. History lesson folks! The original Indian company folded in 1953 and hasn't been a ligetiment motorcycle company in 70 years. Polaris bought the rights to the name in the 2000s and renamed the Victory bikes to the Indian name. There have been several companies that have owned the rights to the name that have nothing to do with the original company including Royal Enfield. They did the same thing as Victory and called their British bikes Indians as well. The only Original motorcycle company from that era is harley. They evolved from what they are today from being in business for 100 years. The Indians of today are Polaris Victories rebranded. The bikes that are called Indians today are great products but they didn't evolve from the original company. Fact!

    • @RickyBobber
      @RickyBobber  2 года назад +5

      Alright. Then I must also point out Harley was Owned by AMF from 1969 - 81

    • @modernpilot233
      @modernpilot233 10 месяцев назад +2

      Simply, wrong. Sorry. Victory bikes were NOT rebranded. The only Victory model that was shared with Indian was the Octane, which was the Victory's version of the scout. NOTHING about the engines or chassis are the same other than both makes being V-twins. Polaris canned the Victory line up after Indian's were selling faster than they could be produced. The decision was made because Victory was never profitable for Polaris and in fact the company suffered millions in losses during their production run. Also, Harley was owned by AMF sporting goods for over 12 years until the family was able to repurchase the company and in turn, completely redesigned their engines. The EVO engine essentially saved Harley from going completely out of business. For the past 8 years, I have been, and STILL work as, an Indian Motorcycle gold level technician as well as Victory and Triumph motorcycles with nearly 40 years in the automotive and motorcycle repair industries as a master level tech. I have been to the Polaris headquarters for training and brand education and know these bikes and the company VERY well.

    I take it you are a dealer? Nice promo. You kinda gloss over Indian's corporate hiccups of the 50';s and 90's by casually mentioning that they "got bought", which Harley also did, but Indian no longer produced any bikes for years at a time while Harley never ceased production. Thus the asterisk for Indian in the longest marque fight.
