Hey Tony, You could also install full length screen door and keep the solid regular door for security. So when you are painting you can just open the door and allow the fresh air through the screen door and install fllters on the screen door or build a filter box around the fan.
Aloha, Hi Tony. I've been watching your vids for awhile. Just today I was watching your video and you mentioned Ewa, wow only then I new you were from Hawaii. I was born on Oahu and fished a lot in ewa beach actually all over the island. You don't have any accent. I live in California now and really miss Hawaii. I've started spraying from 97 off and on. Moved to east coast for 3 years weather to cold to spray. I spray when weather gets warmer. It's really nice to see a local on you tube. I will be watching for your T-shirt, want to support another brother. I sprayed ppg alot. I love DBC, Delton single stag, shop line, A lot of House of Kolor candy. Motorcycle respray. I started spraying when gravity spray guns just came out. First gun was Bink HVLP. I remember Satas NR95, now they have Sata 5500. Wow time flys. Look forward to your new videos. Aloha and God Bless.
I love the fan setup... I am looking at something similar... I need to pull negative pressure in my garage to keep the paint smell from getting into the house...
Get a fog or smoke machine and fill your garage with the fog or smoke then turn your fan on. That will tell you how much air flow you truly have. And it will let you know if you need another fan or vent.
Nice... in close it with the open part of the opening facing down. By friend had your type of set up. Pain flew everywhere. Couldn't control it. So we Googled and found his solution

On the black ceiling.. I understand that it can make a room look more clean n changes the perspective with size and whatnot.. but does it help with visibility when spraying for example? Or when your cut n buffing ? I know I personally need to get to the eye doctor as looking direct light or weak lighting has been such a obstacle finishing my project but I think this might help ..?
Just an idea. Good idea to build a box for the exhaust fan and have a filter between the fan in the box, it doesn’t matter if it’s inside or outside box. As long as it’s easy to change. Exhaust fan, paint fumes should go through filter first as your exhaust fan sucks the air through the filter first. Otherwise your fan and everything outside that fan is going to build up all different paint colors and dust buildup and not easy to clean up. Otherwise keeping your home/garage clean on the outside🤷🏻♂️ Keep up the good work👍
I had too much air flow in my booth & caused solvent pop. I installed a variable speed switch like you did to slow fan down & fixed my solvent pop issue.
What do you do about the water heater? Do you have to turn the pilot light off to avoid combustion? I also want to turn my garage into a spray booth thx

Be on good terms with them. Luckily for me, we have a lot of space so it really doesn't matter. Main thing is being cool with them, and make sure you ask them to move their cars if you think overspray will hit.
The motor for the fan will be exposed to the fumes, hazard for explosion from motor and fumes...a proper spray booth exhaust fan is belt driven as to keep the electric motor and it's internal components away , boxed in away from the airflow....

Tony, wouldn't be a bad idea to put an exhaust filter on before the fan. Keeps overspray off blades and motor
I did that on a booth one time and the filter was restricting air in the first 10 min of spraying

nice set up Tony, my question or concern is about the water heater - pilot lite any issues ?
No issues, electric heater. A pilot light won’t light paint overspray anyway. It’s not that flammable.
@@HowToPaintYourCar thank you
Watch epoxy floors with gun wash, reducer etc.. can melt the epoxy leaving it soft and will start to leave foot prints and lift.
When you see the filter being sucked in it is a indication that the air filter has a lower CFM rating then the exhaust fan CFM
