Iconic Aussie band!
Enjoying your videos !
Awesome, thank you!
Vintage rock and roll, still rocks and rolls.
George Young wrote this and many many others, he's the older brother of Angus and Malcolm Young of ACDC. They all just arrived as migrants from Scotland, Gerorge met Harry Vander on the ship. They became Vander and Young a great writing team
No problems mate
Glad you reacted to this
Glad you liked it 😁
When Paul McCartney first heard this song on his car radio he immediately pulled over and phoned the BBC radio station and asked them to play it again. High praise indeed. David Bowie liked it so much he did a cover of it on his Pin Ups album. Others, such as Peter Frampton and Gary Moore (of Thin Lizzy), also did covers.
Hoo boy, that's a blast from the past. Showing my age here, but I remember being a young teen yelling along with thousands of other teens at one of their concerts at the Myer Music Bowl (Melbourne) all of us swooning over Stevie Wright - he was so tiny but had great stage presence. They had so many hit records - I have a "Best Of" CD and I don't think there's a single dud.
The Easybeats were an Australian rock band, formed in Sydney in late 1964. The five founding members were all migrants from Europe, lead singer Stevie Wright and drummer Gordon"Snowy" Fleet were English born; rhythm guitarist George Young was Scottish born, with lead guitarist Harry Vanda and bassist Dick Diamond's were Dutch born. The band was active between 1964 and 1969, reforming again in 1986.
Easy beats were Australia's answer to the Beatles. Stevie Wright the singer and later had a hit with Evie parts 1,2 and 3. That song was written by 2 other members of the Easybeats, Harry Vanda and George Young( the older brother of ACDC Angus and Malcom) those 2 also produced the first albums of ACDC and were renowned songwriters. They also recorded as Flash and the Pan with hits such as down amoung the dead men (you'vereacted to that song already), hey st Peter and waiting for a train.
the best Aussie Band - the Original Aus Rockers - such a great song,
Some other songs from this band include
Sorry
She's so fine
I'll make you happy
What set this band apart from earlier bands in this era in Oz was that they wrote their own music. In fact, they were in debt when they ended the band, and it was George Young and Harry Vanda's songwriting abilities that brought them out of trouble.
This one was a hit in the States! My Hubby is from N.Y.C. & although he hasn't heard of a lot of Aussie music, he knew this one. He just didn't know they were Aussie's! Even though all five of them migrated to Australia. This song was recorded in England though after they re-located.
This GREAT song was released in 1966 in Australia!!🇦🇺. I love those clothes.
How good to see that again, so much history there, so many good memories.
Thanks Mike, Thanks Richard.
This song would get me fired up at work on a Friday arvo, ready to hit the nighttime of my old Melbourne town. I know it should be Monday, but that s#!t would drive a man crazy.
BTW, I was born in '77. You don't need to be an oldie to love a goodie.
A classic - top 10 oz rock track.
Stevie Wright’s “Evie” (pts 1, 2, 3) is a must.
I did it. you are right, it was great. Then it was blocked.. hopefully it'll be released some day
@@SonofBuck-f7z oh damn, I’ve seen people react to it on here before.
Glad you liked it anyway.
Still one of my favourite songs of all time. I still have the 45 that I bought in 1975. I’ve seen other reactions to it, especially the live one at the Opera house.
Little Stevie sang was a Ten pound pom that came to Australia I think he may have had a drinking/drug problem they were fabulous lots of hits
These guys were not Australia's Beatles, they WERE quite unique and way in advance of their time. Some live at the Villawood Immigration in Sydney's west. my ex wife's brothers were in the same centre and were friends wit some.
@sonofbuck - look into the history of The Easybeats, & the band members; - featuring George Young (older brother of Angus & Malcom Young AC/DC), Harry Vander, - with George are Australia's best and highest recognised credentialed producers and song-writers; & Stevie Wright ( lead singer) became the prototype & model for most Ausssie Rock singers including Bon Scott and Jimmy Barnes ...
I've always enjoyed this song from another good Aussie band as it always made me feel happy and energetic !
I love this. Just shows how far back quality music went in Oz
ACDC’s Angus & Malcolm Young’s oldest brother George is the guitarist.
George was strictly rhythm. Harry Vanda played lead.
I remember this so well and I was 7 when it came out in Australia. Still a great song!
Growing up and driving my Brougham doing city laps on a Friday or Saturday night checking out the girls. Laying off the gas when I saw the cops. Police presence just works. I kissed a police woman one night. 3 weeks later she busted me on a fire arm offence. Open carry was not allowed.
I was 11 and remember it well. Love the Easybeats😊
They are Australian , however they were mostly thought of as British at that time because of the British Pop Rock Invasion their look and sound its an easy mistake .
Three of them were English migrants and two Dutch.
@@daciousinoz6028 George Young was Scottish
So you all can see what I see, reminds me of the hunters and collectors do you see what I see
Stevie (the lead singer) looks like he's not 100% sure what to do with his hands.
A great track, later covered by many other artists. David Bowie, Peter Frampton, Blue Oyster Cult and so on
G'day Mike, The issue you had with not displaying the video is just one of many examples if what is known as PEBKAC.
Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair.
Friday on my mind is an aussie top 10 rock and roll song.
A coincidence that twelve hours before you posted this i was watching Wings of Pegasus analysis of how simple the guitar playing sounds but is actually a very difficult to play piece. Needs special techniques to be learnt to play it well.
Stevie Wright was only 16 years old
Love the 8 chord changes before chorus
Shame you haven't shown the video. This song was added to the hall of fame . Part of the family went on to form ACDC. One of their songs "Goodtimes" was covered much later by Jimmy Barnes and INXS. You should really check it out.
Nah you didn't look stupid...hohoho
Bruce Springsteen does a great Cover of this song. He did it 9 or 10 years ago when they were on tour in Australia.🇦🇺😘
