I bought this inflatable mattress from LED Factory Mart since it met my price point. There's another one out there that just seemed way too expensive but this one came in just a bit over $200. Compared to others that seemed like a good deal to me. It fits well in the back of my 4Runner. I'm 6'4 and have to sleep parallel anyways, that's just a limitation of the vehicle not the mattress. I'll do another review once i have a few nights on it!
I use a queen size air mattress in my full size van sitting on a modular take apart frame for camping.
I have a 2003 4Runner and use two DeepSleep memory foam mattresses that are custom made for different year 4Runners. They come rolled up in a bag and just letting them out of the bag airs them up really comfortably. There is an option to pump them up if you need more support but I haven't needed to yet.
Man this sounds like the way to go!
@@Pietop I don't remember if they have them in longer sizes. I'm 5' 8" and I pretty much max it out in length.
@@2-old-Forthischet I'm glad it works for your setup at least. My feet might hang off lol
Brand?
I might have to pick one up, I also car camp in my 4Runner at the 14er trail heads. Looks nice
It's pretty sweet for a night at a 14er TH. I'm going to do an update video really soon now that I've used it a few nights.
So,, caveat,, what about the hump in the middle of the 4Runner when you lay your seats down? I've tried to lay down in the back of my 5th gen no mattress, and the hump goes right into my back. Having a mattress back there would be great on occasion- but Is this air mattress manufactured to where it incorporates a slight dip in the molding to account for that hump? Does that make sense?
I know the hump you're talking about, and as far as the mattress goes I never flipped it over to see if they contoured it to fit that or not. Having said that, you can't feel the hump when you're sleeping on it so maybe it's just thick enough where it doesn't matter?? I'll make an updated video soon now that I've had a few nights on it and include this point.
@@Pietop awesome. Appreciate the detailed info!!
I'm thinking some 2" insulation foam board in the lower part could even out that hump.
Do you have a link for us 5th gen owners?
Man so this is kind of weird - so I got it from LED Factory Mart and here's the link for a 2003 -2009 4runner but when I got mine from them it was specifically for a 5th gen 4runner. I can't find that one anymore on their website so maybe they discontinued it? I'm not 100% sure but even so this one looks like the one I got and it's even shown in a 5th gen. I may send them an email and ask what's up

Hey man great video. i was thinking about car camping with my wife on the back of a 4runner, and i was never sure about the measurements of the cargo space in terms of length. im 6`4 as well so do you think it d be possible to increase the length by pushing the front seats a little forward?
Well sorta. So I pushed the front seats forward on mine but the back seats when folded down get in the way of giving you any extra real length. It does a little but it's just not as much as you'd hope. I'm 6'4 too and had to sleep at an angle which was fine for me by myself, but adding an extra person would be tight in a 4runner unless she's close to 5 foot flat. You could probably endure it for 1 night every so often but multiple nights would get old real quick. I'm going to make an updated video on it and I'll mention all this.
Do they have one for the 3rd gen?
3rd gen is the best model 4runner ever made I think, but unfortunately the company I bought this mattress from (LED Factory Mart) doesn't have an option for a 3rd gen as far as I know.
@Pietop
I love my 98 Sr5, 5 speed from Washington, so totally rust free.
A futon mattress fits almost mint, 6 foot by 57". But then you have a futon mattress everywhere you go. The ability to break it down is a game changer. Sucks they're not available.
@@dand33911 A futon mattress would be sweet but like you said you'd have to carry it everywhere with you and that could be tough with gear. Having said that, it's just a solid mattress so I guess you could stack stuff on it and it wouldn't hurt it...
Would this fit a
3gen 4Runner ? Anyone know ?
