Great job!
Thank you 🙏🏼
Very helpful!
😊Thank you for watching
Great video thank you
I have access to all the stainless and carbon steel I could ever want for this type of project. To bad I’m so lazy. I’ll just subscribe and watch you.
😂😂 Fair enough, thanks! 👊🏼
cool
I love watching a professional artist. Well done.
Thank you for watching!! You can see lots more of my sculptures on my website. www.steve-james-sculptures.com
That was a great idea on how to make the body of the butterfly. Very clever. Great job overall!
Thank you very much 👍🏼
Tin snips probably would have worked to cut out the SS sheet metal pieces. It came out nice!!
Hey thanks for watching Scott! Yes you probably could manage with snips at a push, could even reduce the material thickness to make things easier too.
👍🏼
Wonderful project to make with my powertig welder. Very nice result.
Very cool... you inspired me to want to try making one of these. Great job!
Cant wait to make this! Thank you!
Beautiful , and you make the work look so easy , any crafting is a labor of ❤️ and therefore easy .Thank you for sharing your beautiful butter fly art with us.love it ! 👍 💕🦋🌈👵🏻🐶😺👏🏼
Very cool! 😃 👍
Beautiful
Congrats on your first video, hope to see more of you, way too many woodworkers and not enough metal workers on RUclips.
Cheers! I really enjoyed making this video, hopefully many more to come :)
Damn true! :'D
my only thoughts besides that I will be making one because this excellent ! Perhaps adding like a little base so that if ground soil loosens then it wont fall over. i saw another guy put the ends into a stump for a support system but i figure like there are other anchoring systems that will look cleaner.
john Orlando Good thinking, let me know how it goes 👍🏼
Beautiful! We could make a Dragonfly the same way yes? I'm a beginner using much simpler tools and lower quality metal, but your instructions and beautiful accent help me very much!
Angela, thank you for your lovely comment. Yes, a dragonfly could certainly be made in a similar way... maybe it’s time for a dragonfly making video :)
Don’t forget to subscribe & thanks for watching!
Very nice project. subbed.
I'm new to the world of welding, but accidentally own some equipment, so I have no barrier to entry. You could help a newbie a lot by describing what equipment and processes it takes to conduct what you are doing. Not overriding the 'creative' side of things, just a bit about process.
Loved the butterfly. You made it look easy, but I'm sure it's not.
Thank Charles, I have some Welding/ Fabrication for beginners vids in the planning.. Stay tuned & thanks for watching!
Fast isn’t always best when creating art work, but then that is always the Artist ‘ choice in the time spent on the creation !🤔 🦋🌈👵🏻🐶😺💕
Cheers will give it go . Im a newbie at this tig stuff and proper struggling welding thin stuff to thick or vice versa but you make it look easy I must say
It's easy once you get the hang of it, far better than mig.. Let us know how you get on
Nice skills! Can't wait to watch more professional welding videos :D
Thanks Mr Black Beard, I've got more on the making
If I may suggest, get a plasma cutter. It has saved me countless hours of labor cutting metal. Thank you for sharing such a lovely video.
I guess im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a trick to get back into an Instagram account??
I was stupid forgot the account password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me!
@Ahmir Damon Instablaster ;)
Nicely done!
Hey, thank you Kevin, that means a lot... Love watching your videos
great video cant wait for next one
Thanks for watching
thanks for sharing, nice looking shop.
"....then I took a pair of GIANT scissors and cut out the shape". lol! cool vid! :)
As a home welder artist myself, I'll say thanks for this and great work!
You're welcome and thank you for watching :)
Very nice...!
Hey, thanks Kyle
Very cool and nice video - enjoyed the process and thanks for sharing; Booyah!
Came out looking awesome!! 👊🏻
Thank you... lots of projects planned for the future
Cant wait man!
pretty good with that grinder bro!
nice build..
lovely
Mary Hornbostel.. Thank you for watching
Great intro! Great explanation! you should def looking into getting a portable bandsaw! You can get one from Harbor Freight for like 60 or 70 bks. Not sure where you live, if they dont have one where you live you might be able to order online. Its totally worth it. Great work my friend! dig it!
Hi Matt, I'll definitely look at getting a bandsaw.. I do have a fixed horizontal one, but your right, one vertical on a stand would be great for cutting out shapes like this.. Thanks for the support, much appreciated 👍🏼
Looking forward to some more vids. Take care Subbed
Great video and look forward to many more off you . One thing I too have one of those Rtec welders so what amps do you use to tack the body to the wings as I'm struggling with that kind of thing.
I'd say I was probably at around 45amps for that.. If you're struggling to keep your arc going make sure your tungsten is super sharp before you start and maintain a tight distance between tungsten and your work piece.
Let me know how it goes and thanks for watching
Well done! Subbed!
Hey thanks, Your projects are great!
If you do a lot of these it would go much faster using a powerplasma cutter. Sheet metal cuts like a hot knife through butter
William Jones- I do use one from time to time.. I'll probably invest in one for myself sometime. This was just an idea I had... Thanks for watching!
Oh so much fun watching you creating all the things you do. I don't know where you are but can I order some? Would you post one ? I'm in edinburgh.
Thanks ! That's so good to hear. Sure you can order, please contact me through my website link below.... look forward to hearing from you, Steve.

Great job with the butterfly! What did you finish it with, paint, clear coat or just leave it to rust? Thanks, looking forward to the new videos.
Hi Steve, The butterfly was made of 316 stainless steel and will withstand outdoor conditions.. For this reason I mainly work in this material, especially for my outdoor sculptures...
If you get chance go check out my sculpture website, link in the video description, thanks for watching!
What do you cut the 316 stainless with?
What gauge?
Sorry I got the answers
Nice vid, any more?
Great video Steve :)
Thanks! Glad you liked the video, the TIG160PDC has been a fantastic welder.
