Have you ever thought about adding "D" as a grade for these interactions?
@@oceanwaves83 Just because it hasn't been used yet doesn't mean it doesn't exist lol
Why not add a D grade? The officer was calm, but the detention, spotlight while driving at night, and trying to ID the passengers was way too far.
I wonder if you'll actually respond to people asking for a D grade. Probably not.
I always enjoy your videos...Keep up the grind!
5:58 oh, a Warsaw-style bus and a Warsaw-style busstop
His ability to estimate speed, especially while he is moving in the opposite direction, is a lie.
Always is, judges love it.
In the scientific field, when someone says they used one of their sensory organs to measure something, we instantly dismiss any results because human sensory organs are not accurate measurement instruments.
Yet in the court of law, an "eye witness" is considered sufficient evidence if I'm not mistaken.
Just imagine if we made products for human consumption or interaction by simply looking at the volume of ingredients with our eyes or simply guessing at formulations: a lot of people would be dead.
Shit is ridiculous 😂🤦
There’s an argument to be that you can tell is someone is speeding, but estimating a speed is not possible
I bet he also thinks the sun revolves around the earth :)
How could you “visually” determine a vehicle’s speed if it’s coming towards you?
This was an illegal stop. This officer should have been disciplined and the charges placed on his record. To stop law enforcement abuse there must be a form of Malpractice Insurance required for all law enforcement officers. After a couple of payouts for abuse, civil rights violations etc... an insurance carrier will eventually drop the officers coverage. No insurance, no employment. No insurance no jumping from one municipality to another. Its a simple fix.
That sounds like it would work, but I think it would swing back the other way, to being unfair to the officers.
Just last week I was scheduled a court date bc my insurance card was expired and 'dispatch couldn't verify my insurance' even tho it's paid for and current. End result, I show my updated card to the judge, and they drop to large supposed charge and charge me a $25 'court processing charge'. I was incensed. I didn't ask to be there, and a phone call would have sufficed with my insurance company.
Anyway, my point is that wherever there are fees and insurance...
(which personally, I hate anyway. No one should pay to deal with eventual chaos, being leeched forever until that inevitably happens and, whoops, your policy can't pay for that. I digress.)
...there are chances for corruption. We need a new, better system. Not the same one pointed at the police. Imo.
@@CasualDandyAkaSqwrty i hear what you are saying. Im just giving my opinion of 1 being a Black man and 2 being a retired Correction Officer of over 25yrs of service. I don't claim to be perfect but I tried to be fair, honest and to not take things personally. Those 3 simple behaviors kept me out of trouble and kept me from allegations, abuses of power and basically kept me honest. I know for a fact if you are honest you will not have an issue. If this officer was held accountable, especially monetarily, then im sure he would refrain from this type of behavior. Between Qualified Immunity and municipalities being responsible for lawsuits, it's no wonder why so many bad officers exist.
This an absolutely fabulous idea!
@@CasualDandyAkaSqwrty Unfair? Potential for abuse perhaps? Like medical malpractice?
It fails in theory. Insurance companies will settle false claims to avoid lengthy court costs. So even though the insured (the officer) has a case he clearly would win the insurance will payout because it's the lower cost option.

I'm from the UK. I work graveyard shift so I go home on my scooter at 2am. Couple of weeks ago an unmarked police car cuts right across me and does a crazy U turn through a closed petrol (gas) station and emerges and follows me like 20ft from my back wheel. Well I don't like this shit at all (I don't know he's police at this point) so I open the tap and he switches on the blues and pulls me over saying I was doing 45+ in a 30. Yeah, why the hell is he a cop? With those superhuman powers he could make millions.
Why would this cop get a C- while blinding an innocent citizen with his spotlight while driving and intending to pull over that citizen over before witnessing a crime? A verbal warning doesn't excuse that level of abuse.
Letter grade is carefully considered. Just accept it.
The officer did not attempt to detain/arrest the driver. The officer did not detain/arrest the passengers. Meaning the officer is above on some level other bad cops. We should appreciate the former cop who set this uninformed one straight.

He definitely did!
They get an F. They weren't speeding and they shined him.
Yup. Cop had zero probable cause of speeding. Cop traveled 40 to catch someone doing 30 so no evidence there - and that was AFTER doing an illegal u-turn.
Yep.. he's a dumb guy that officer. He's putting people in danger and gets a C?? What's that stand for; CRIMINAL??
Right
I'm 100% sure he used his lights to confirm that the driver was black and then proceeded to stop him. Because he's black.
The irony is, if they would have actually been speeding, blinding them would be even more of a problem.
You must be grading on a curve if that Cop got a C-. His stop was utterly ridiculous.
No cop left behind program
He should have gotten an “F” for blinding the driver alone. He was obviously looking for black drivers.
An F is the worst grade so would cover the worst cases. This is bad and wrong, but it could easily have gone so much worse if the cop was shittier so the grade makes sense to me. If he detained the driver further or was more aggressive it easily brings the grade down. Lots of bum cops ruin the curve of acceptability.
You can see on the drivers Dashcam 28mph, Spotlight Blinded him, sees 4 black guys, does a rapid U turn, you were speeding, finds out he is an ex cop and it all of a sudden becomes a warning. Not speeding, ID for all people in the car and the spotlight in the eyes endangered driver. C is far too lenient.
@@dengar96 well but that should be made very clear then.
Because he is using school grades you assume they somewhat mean the same thing, and F isn't just for the worst, it's for everyone who fails to reach the threshold of 50% to 30% right.
A C- would mean like 60% ok, which is just NOT the case here.
He flashed the light to see what color he was. That flash was ridiculously wrong. I've never heard of a cop doing that.
Imagine how it would've turn out if he never told them he was a former cop.
No. He gets an F for illegally shinning his light into their car, racial profiling and lying about clocking them over 30mph when the video GPS clearly shows him within a mile or two of the posted speed limit. And if it weren't for the fact the driver was a former cop with an extensive history in two different police departments they all would have been sitting on the curb, arrested and fined for nothing. We need to call it how it is.
Stfu it wasn’t racial profiling, I swear that’s all people can focus on these days. The cop was terrible but he wasn’t racist

Racism is subconscious. If the officer had met and seen someone of a different race. Its very possible the situation would never have gotten as far as it could in the first place. It's not that people these days aren't right about things being racist. We've seen too much strange behavior to explain otherwise. It's that the generations that are asserting that things are not racist have not ever come to means with the type of beneath the bar racism that existed cira 1950 - 1990's and the evil that existed circa 1900 - 1940's and earlier. Estimating someone's speed doesn't sound accurate and shining his light in someone's eyes could have caused an accident. That officer should be reprimanded for almost causing an accident.
The shining the light part is true, but in some states, it's completely legal for a cop to pull over someone based on a speeding estimate. Only some states require laser or radar verification.

But obvious the latter is way worse, then a spotlight. If everything is an F, then scoring becomes worthless.
I’m with everyone else here, the cop gets an “F”

What if they would have ticketed or arrested them. F being the worst, if there is a worst situation you can't really give an F.
@@505Goat of course you can. The situation can always be worse but that doesnt mean the officer didnt fail miserably in the video.
ATA's grades are consistent. Good faith interactions with excusable mistakes get a B, malpractice and incompetence gets a C, illegal arrests, unwaranted violence, and slam-dunk 6-7 figure lawsuits get an F.
On that scale, this is a C. Nobody likes it, but that's how low the bar is.
I had cataracts in both eyes until my recent surgeries. Oncoming headlights created glare halos that made driving at night more difficult. Having that spotlight shined in my face would have completely blinded me to anything in front of me.
Then you need to stop driving. You are a danger to the other drivers. You're going to kill someone.
They are supposed to be there for our "safety," but they blind us, while driving, with their spotlight lol. Just shows that their motivations aren't what they claim smh

I call that Racial Profiling. The Driver did an OUTSTANDING JOB at staying calm. I would have been pissed that the cop shined his spotlight in my eyes.

The officer literally, actually, and factually broke the law by shinning his light. Misdemeanor or not he's a criminal, and he has a badge. There's no way I can see giving a criminal a C- as reasonable. Especially when he wasn't prosecuted and it's likely continuing to break the same law by shining lights into the eyes of drivers.

Respect to the driver for remaining so calm and polite. The officer owed an apology for blinding him with the stoplight. I'm glad everything turned out all right, though the driver didn't appear to have been doing anything that warranted being stopped. Good reminder that even if one has been wronged, it's best to extricate from the situation, which this driver expertly did. How differently it would've been if he had been belligerent.
Which section of which Act allows police to “offer words of advice”
I always close my windows and say “see you in court”.
The officer acted the way he did because the driver was an ex cop, who probably told his passagers to remain calm and not say anything. If the person was not calm and collected, who knows what the officer would have done...
F- for the cop B.S excuse of a stop.
All of these things are true... But F's are for cops who blatantly & recklessly violate Constitutional Rights and Rob people of their Bodily Freedom.

On this scale, this incident is a C. It's the kind of run of the mill bad-faith interaction that happens a thousand times a day in the US. Nobody should deny the facts, nobody in their right mind would pull such a stupid stunt as blinding an oncomming vehicle at night unless the intent was malicious. Clearly your right on the money, the rascist was actually looking to pull over anyone but a ghost
@KingCobraJFS it’s because there are actual studies about how these kind of situations are racist. During the day, when cops can see the race of the person in their car, black people are pulled over disproportionately to white people. At night it evens out because cops can’t see the race of the person in the vehicle. Why else would this dude be flashing lights into cars at night? It’s to see if he’s black because he can’t tell. We know he lied about clocking his speed. We know he lied about the light. It’s pretty obvious that this was racial profiling.
@KingCobraJFS Obviously not, but this didn’t happen to a white guy. It happened to a black guy and so we have to take racial profiling as a potential possibility when looking at why this officer did this. You keep talking about this hypothetical situation like it’s a gotcha, but it has nothing to do with this situation.

Endangering someone's life, such as by blinding them with a spotlight while driving, should be an immediate F, regardless of how "nice" they are during the rest of the interaction.
He was only pretending to be nice. He was itching to give an a$$ whooping, but unfortunately the situation didn't escalate to his liking.
Pfft he got nice after he got asked questions for his stupidity and that the victim was a former cop.
I have to say that I have a massive amount of respect for the driver and his passengers, and I think cops like the ones who pulled this man over should have to face some kind of consequences for bogus stops.
Had a cop use his spotlight while I was about to turn around on my road to park, I immediately used my high beams which I knew were brighter... Parked in front of my house, got out and got to the steps and he stopped and said he needed to ask questions and I said 'Good luck' and went inside and went to sleep.
