Always loved watching Lucy's tv shows, BUT when Ann Sothern guest starred, it was always super special. With the two of them together, you know it was going to be an awesome treat! ❤❤
I totally love Ann Sothern. She was a beautiful and talented actress whose versatility extended to comedy, drama, and musicals. Mostly playing sweet, down on her luck characters, she could also play deceitful wicked characters as in Shadow on the Wall and Crazy Mama. I loved her TV shows. She seemed so easy to get along with.
This is a hoot! Ann's shows ("Private Secretary" and "The Ann Sothern Show"} were made before I was born and so was Lucille's "I Love Lucy". I was too young to catch the first run of "The Lucy Show" and barely remember the first run of "Here's Lucy" but I enjoyed must of them in reruns - it's had to catch reruns of Ann's shows but the ones I caught I enjoyed. I enjoyed Ann very much in "Crazy Mama" - sad that her character was killed at the end.
Now, note to self: do not watch this clip again when the whole family is sleeping, I got told to shut up three times, I was laughing so hard! I love when Lucy and Ann get to get her cuz they always get drunk, it's hilarious!
Lady this clip is hilarious Ann and Lucy snookered...........1939.....that's the year she auditioned for GWTW for Scarlet O'Hara and I think she would've been terrible.....a yankee in a southern role.......blastphemy
When they were singing ,they reminded of the movie Practical Magic. When they also were singing as they were drinking. Very funny scene both were 👏👏🌹🌹🌹
Hahahahaha! I was already laughing b/c it reminded of Lucy and the Vitameatavegamin commercial. Then, Lucy started crying and I bursting out laughing! Hahahahaha!
I know right? It reminded me so much of that 🤣. That's also my favorite episode. I'm my mind, only Carol Burnett equals Lucy as the number one comedianne of all time.
Reminded me of the scene in the movie Yours Mine and Ours, when the boyfriend's kids got her drunk and she was crying and laughing - funny 1968 film with Henry Fonda.
brings us back to when these two got drunk on the 'i love lucy' when they did the special in little havana when she first met ricki & the mertzes,,ended up in jail and got drunk,,THAT WAS NON STOP LAUGHTERXD
I 've loved Ann Sothern since I was a child and watched Private Secretary. As I got older and realized that she was in movies, I couldn't watch her enough. She was SO versatile. Her comedic skills were showcased in the Maisie movies. Her singing skills were evidenced in Panama Hattie and Lady Be Good, and her dramatic skills showed in Shadow on the Wall, Cry Havoc, Letter to Three Wives and Whales of August. As talented as she was, she appreciated her fans and never seemed to have a DIVA attitude. That made me adore her even more.
I have seen this many times - every time belly laughs Lucy and Ann made great partners - in comedy and in the singing at the end. Ï Love Paris" Thank you both for the warmth and laughter 2022
One of the things that distinguished LUCY from other sitcom actresses was she would do things that you wouldn't see others do; for instance, you never saw Harriet Nelson get drunk, or Leave It To Beaver's mom, or Dennis The Menace's mom. LUCY's comedy was broader and more slapsticky. You have seen, though, Laura Petrie of The Dick Van Dyke Show get drunk.
For those of you who enjoy good, clean comedy, may i suggest a show ive only just discovered."Keeping up appearances" Im REALLY, REALLYnot into english humour, but i have to say, ive found the UK Lucy. Of course no one can top Lucy, but once you are able to QUOTE Lucy line for line, time to move on. Its just so hard these days, when you want a good belly laugh, that has no vulgarity. It took me to the 3rd eposode and finally got in on their DRY Humour. Just check it out, id love to hear your ..
The "Countess" is Ann Sothern - she died in 2003. I remember watching her shows on TV in the '50's Private Secretary and The Ann Sothern Show. She was a strong role model for women just beginning to enter the workforce such as my mother, an accountant for the Federal Reserve Bank. Ann dressed beautifully, spoke powerfully and had it all over her male boss without getting a hair out of place - a truly class act.
Me he reido como nunca. Verdaderamente Lucille Ball was great. Era como nuestra Lina Morgan, únicamente que Lina Morgan solo es conocida en España y en cambio Lucille era universal.
Always loved watching Lucy's tv shows, BUT when Ann Sothern guest starred, it was always super special. With the two of them together, you know it was going to be an awesome treat! ❤❤
There was only one lucy who could. Make people happy when they were feeling sad. She was the queen of comedy.
Yeah, we wouldn't have known Lucy was famous for this stuff if you hadn't told us. But did you watch the video?
I miss these shows. They were the best days of TV.
The camera stuff is better today, but other than that love1950s,1960s, even 1970s tv alot, slot better, plus it was free
There's no reason to miss them. You can still watch them on DVD, you know.

“If he puts a dab of it behind his ear, so help me, I’ll belt him” lol
Love Lucy & The Countess. From The Lucy Show!
Lucille...an icon..amazing. Like Goldie Hawn...also fantastic comedian.
Wouldn't it be historical if Lucy broke out with, "VITAMEATAVEGAMIN!
The countess and Lucy play so well off each other.
loved the countess
"Honey, Let's not walk, let's take a Taxi" LOLZ

I have never seen that episode.I thought Ricki and lucy met in New York. How fun.
We still say "What makes you sho shure?" from that episode. I'd love to see it again!
@@marvinabigby6801 I think they met at the RKO studio in Hollywood - set of the movie "Too Many Girls."
UNFORGETTABLE .
Classic, This is from the time when TV was worth watching!!
+freedomseaker1 Yes, when it was well written and not vulgar.
Having drunk women appear here seems rather vulgar to me, at least after all these years.
Ann Southern and Lucille Ball really worked well together!!!!
they were long-time friends in real life off set

Ann Sothern was about 56 when she did The Lucy Show and looked wonderful.
I think Lucy was 2 years younger - both look lovely. I did not realize that Ann was so much shorter (5ft 1 in compared to Lucy 5ft 6 or 5 ft 7)
@@LJ-ht4zs I think Lucy was 5ft 8.
Lucy was a wonderful brilliant actress ❤️❤️❤️
This was when TV was worth watching, wish TV producers could learn from this!.
Ok peggy
"That's like poetry! Wine number nine..." maybe I can use that in English class... lol
Ashley Smith
They are funny. In my day in the day i was 18 we did crazy stuff like that getting drunk. So funny. Now im 65 and enjoy life with out the wine
Really amusing. Love Lucy's hat.
Lucy is the best comedian
Ann Sothern was such a beautiful woman!
She sure was

Why 1939(the Year my mom is born) was a bad year for Lucy?
@@dianebenson4323 It’s because her parents wouldn’t let her go to the beach because she was sick and couldn’t go swimming.
a "Royal Flush" ROFLMO...I love that
taxi joke and the singing had me howling
Sorry, I can't stop laughing hahahaha
Nobody did a better drunk than Lucy.
They make me think of my friends.
i was dying cause i needed to laugh but i had to be quiet!!!! LOL!!!
ann is so ace at "drunk with confidence" 6:04
Ambrosiatic!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Again, it shows that Lucille Ball always was the classic queen of the great big bawl! I loved it when she would let fly with the bawl, hilarious!

Quite a difference in height between Lucy and Ann
Lucy was 5 or 6 inches taller
Is it taken from the Lucy Show? If so, I'm getting the whole series!
