On "My Car Story" we're in Suburbs of Medford OR on 9-17-23.
We're looking at a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T in F8 Green Paint. The car comes with the 440 CI V8 engine and has an automatic transmission.
The car's Owner is Chris Lehuede. Chris’s had this car since 2001. Chris shares he bought this car and was ready to sell it, and the Buyer asked for more details. Upon further inspection he found the car had only 16,000+ original miles and decided to keep the car. If the Buyer would have bought it, this car would have been sent overseas probably never to be seen in the USA again.
Chris also shared I can drive it too.
If you’d like to see his full car collection, here is the link • Special Garage ! Chris...

I give this car a big thumbs up .👍
High praise :-)
😮😅
What an icon! This Charger is a good reminder of the huge array of iconic cars built in the 1960s.
This is a stunning example and is in wonderful condition.
Thanks for bringing this classic to us Lou!
Hi Jeff, "What an icon!" High praise! My pleasure sharing this "stunning example" with you. You're welcome, Lou
This is the best looking Charger, the '68 to '70. You have a keen eye for quality. Thanks so much , Lou! Please keep doing what you are doing
Hi John, High praise for the looks of this car :-) You're welcome, and I'll do my best to keep doing what I'm doing. I appreciate your encouragement, Lou
BEAUTIFUL Charger. While I live in a small town with a population of 3400 back in the late 80's and early 90's and at that time there was one 68 Charger, five 69 Charger RT's and two 70 RT's in town and other than the 68, the rest were immaculate and show quality including a 69 that was literally the identical twin to the one featured in this video but it had 30,000 miles instead of 17,000 miles and had its original paint. The 68 and one 70 are still around but the others were sold outside of the area within the last 20 years. It was really cool seeing when all of the owners get them together on a weekly basis.
Hi Todd, Happy to read this car brings back memories of the Chargers in your town :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
@@loucostabile I feel that was a high number of clean 69 Charger RT's which were already about 20 years old by then to be in a town this size
Thanks Chris for doing the right thing in keeping it in the USA and sharing is with the public via this episode!
Hi Poncho67, Happy to share this car with you :-) Lou
This is definitely a 16,000mi car..look at the engine compartment! This gentleman has an outstanding car. I love these cars!

NICE!
Gorgeous R/T ! Thanks for posting Lou !
Hi Rudy, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Same no A/C, green interior front bucket like bench w/center arm rest/seat, column shift auto as our '68....we just had the lighter green exterior color with that same green color vinyl top. I'm so glad to see this video finally out since seeing the other one showing his collection. I like this guy's taste! (and luck on ending up with it!) Speaking of luck, Lou! You got to experience it all!

My dream car...
Happy to share this "Dream car" with you :-)
Great episode, Lou! What a beautiful car in pristine condition.
My first car was a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T in Plum Crazy (purple). Bought it used in 1976 when I was 18. Very much like this one with the 440, except mine had power steering (big car--hard to imagine not having PS!). Main difference was that mine had been through 6-7 Michigan winters (ugh). Sold it in 1981...yes, to my regret! I wanted something that got better gas mileage, as I was getting ca. 9 mpg in the Charger.
Hi texanfournow, Happy to read you enjoy the condition of this car :-) Glad to read this car brings back memories of your car. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Love you Lou!!! F8 GREEN!!!! I so want to paint my 2011 this color!!!!! This car looks amazing and to drive it must be epic!!!!!
Thank you Tammy!!! F8 on your 2011 would give it that "Old School" look for sure. You're right, lots of fun when I'm able to drive them, and happy to share that moment with you, Lou

Totally drooling over this ‘beaut!! Killer Mopar!!
NICE!
I agree with you that the '69 is the best looking Charger. It's amazing that the car only has 16,000 miles. Thanks for sharing, Lou!
Hi Brian, Happy to read you enjoy the 1969 as your favorite looking Charger too :-) You're right. This one is amazing. You're welcome, Lou
Everybody wants the 1968. I like the 69 also. I like the bar down the middle of the grill. And it still comes with the Hideaway lights!!
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this one :-)
The '69 and the '72-'73 are my favorite years of the Chodge Darger. What a great survivor this one is! It's an absolute monster!!!
Happy to share this "absolute monster!!!" with you :-)
1968-1970 Chargers are so cool ❤😊
I agree, I like the looks of them too.
Nice car Lou, a MOPAR fan. Ceep going Lou.

Perfect 69 Charger with beautiful paint and vinyl top - just looks stunning. Awesome feature guys, thanks so much.
High praise Bruce H. You're welcome.
That green looks the same as " Deep Chartreuse mettalic " that came on early seventies Australian Valiants.
Thank you for sharing what you notice.
My dad had a green Charger like this- a 500. I still remember being 4 years old sliding across the back seat during his tight fast cornering. 😂🙌

An iconic car, and amazing to see two of the 2nd gen Chargers in the same video!
This video prompted me to look up some details on the 68-71 Charger. The iconic body, including the concealed headlights, "flying buttress" roofline, Coke bottle styling with the chrome gas camp atop the "haunches" were standard across the Charger line-up. Although these cars are celebrated for the big-block V-8's, including the Hemis, the base model was available with the slant six (although I doubt any were delivered that way).
Glad that the owner decided to keep the car.
Hi Martin, Happy to have "An iconic car" and two of them on the Channel to share with you. Hmmm, did not know the base model came with a slant 6. I'm glad he kept it too, Lou
Really nice Charger. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure Terry sharing this Charger with you. You're welcome.
Same color combo as my 1970, green and green, on green.
My friend had a '69 RT/SE, AC and leather seats! Brown and tan I think.

Just phenomenal.

WE LOVE ❤️ THE WHOLE PKG. INSIDE AND OUT 😁😁
High praise :-)
This 1969 Dodge Charger was, and stillstill is, a beautiful car. My favorite design feature was the buttressed rear roof section. As beautiful as the '69 Charger is, my choice would be the '68 model without the divided grille, and the round tail lamps. The late 60s to early 70s Dodges and Plymouths had great styling.
Hi Mike, Happy to read you enjoy this "beautiful car." :-) Thanks for sharing the 68 is your Favorite. Lou
Good day Lou,
What a great story & I also watched the follow up video on Chris collection he definitely loves his Mopar's, only thing missing is a Aussie Charger with a Aussie Hemi Six.
Back to the Charger always great when you get the chance to drive them.
Thank you for sharing & looking forward to more of Chris's collection of Mopar's.
Cheers

Hi Anthony, Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) Lou
My Favorite Charger as well Lou! Love that rear end too. 👍
NICE!
The iconic car in Dirty Mary Crazy Larry, which was back in ‘74! If I can recall, this is the car the protagonists in the film steal the car from a Local Flea Store, except that it is in a Green-Yellow Color. 😎👍💪
Hi Matthew, Happy to read this car brings back memories of the movie car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
🌳 This forest green color is the exact shade of my first car out of HS in 1977 Ford LTD 🚗 - I can't get enough of that color! Even the interior looks like my old car 🚙, which I used to get my driver's license after failing twice in my stepdad's 1980s Ford Festiva (a stick shift 😬) that scared the living daylights out of the Proctor testing me at the DMV! 😅
Hi The Star Family, Happy to read this car brings back memories of the color of your 1st car out of High School :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

Hi Happy to read this car brings back memories of your car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Almost all the 60's cars had "hips" like you point out (owner calls it "like a coke bottle") and this part got me thinking. Isn't it interesting that when we give a car "hips" like this, and what most muscle cars have, that we don't view it as being "girly" like wide hips on a girl?
Instead when we give this shape to machinery, our brains interpret this wide hip stance as a "muscle" stance, rather than a girly stance? I mean, it really looks awesome and super tough to me as well. I just come to realize how this should be seen backwards, like more in nature; nice curves, looking more woman like, but it's obviously very masculine looking when we see a car with hips like this.
I dunno why, it just occurred to me. I guess because he used the term sometimes men (and even other straight women) use to describe a woman like; "wow, did you see her, she has a body like a coke bottle". I suppose this is what triggered this thought.
Anyway lol, cool to come and find out it's low mile survivor.
Hmmm, interesting point. Seems to me when I see the "hips" on a car it reminds me more of what a horse looks like from the side / back. Hmmm, just thought about what it would look like to have tail lights on a horses hind end :-) Happy to read "cool to come and find out it's low mile survivor.". Lou
Beautiful car 😊
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
always admired the Charger though I never personally knew anybody that owned a dodge car from new though my Cousin Angela S had a used 1995 dodge Spirit RT that my dad later drove after his previous used car a used 1990 Volvo 760 some other family members owned Chryslers from new including a first gen Sebring JXI convertible in Amethyst purple over sandstone tan leather interior/matching soft top that belonged to my late maternal grandfathers 2nd wife owned in my late tweens/ early teens

Gorgeous Charger Lou. Always loved the 1969 Dodge Charger, grew up watching The Dukes of Hazzard reruns on TV Land so I always wanted one. Don't see many Chargers with bench seat and column shift I guess that was standard and the buckets optional?
Hi PlymouthDuster225, Happy to read you enjoy this "Gorgeous Charger" :-) Fun TV show the Dukes of Hazzard. I think you're right, that the bucket seats and console would be the optional upgrade. If a Viewer has knowledge, feel free to share, Lou

Too bad for Germany, keep our classics home, I am a former United States Marine & Combat Veteran also retired from the NYPD as a sniper. Our classic American cars should stay at home. P.S. Best taillights ever.

Hi Czech Mate, Happy to read "Really nice car!" :-) Here is the orange one. Enjoy, Lou ruclips.net/video/7X_rczqHTpM/видео.html
Back when cars were legit cool.
Hi Brian, GOOD NEWS! You've found the right RUclips Channel for the cars you enjoy :-) Lou
What I find unusual is the automatic selector on the column. Most muscle car fans would prefer four on the floor and a pistol grip. Short of that you have to have a console and the automatic selector located there. The 440 magnum was the best bang for the buck and equal to the 426 hemi in a drag race.
Hi Bill, Thanks for sharing what you notice, Lou
beautiful car ....does it have the original exhaust pipes and mufflers ?
Hi Buster Boom, Happy to read "beautiful car" :-) Hmmm, didn't video the exhaust and mufflers so not sure, Lou
The Charger in Bullitt was a 68'.
....well the 68 was behind me just like Bullitt :-)
So amazing, big bro Lou!! WOW. What a beautiful and super sexy Charger, man. I was watching this video in my sweat pants jacked up to my knees to show my ever present baseball tubesocks, in my tubesocked stocking feet (as always), those stocking feet doing a bit of a hyper guy bop dance as I am checking out this green Charger, and I hear my girlfriend let out a scream! I crane my neck around and see my floppy DC sneakers literally levitating and bopping against the door, trying to get out! "Let those those boys out, babe!" I said! She shakingly opened the door and they flew out, no doubt to you, Lou!!! I see you doing a Bruce Lee jump and grab, and if you can at least keep those boys in the backseat of Chris' Charger, they will no doubt settle down lol 😂. The way you showcased this Jessica Rabbit Dodge is EPIC, Lou. And that chase between you and big bro Chris was hilarious🤣🤪. Imagine seeing 2 Chargers from this vintage doing a punch and grab?! WOW. I love it. Thanks for all the "coke bottle inspiration", big brother. ⚾⚾JV Johnny
Hey JV Johnny, Happy to read "So amazing" :-) Happy to read Babe let the sneakers get out of the house for a bit. Glad to share this "chase scene" with you. You're welcome, Lou

Interesting that it’s column change auto and not on the centre console
Thanks for viewing and sharing what you notice.
Did he ever say Why he repainted the car?? Given it yad so few original miles on it, I would have assumed that it had been been garaged all that time and the paint eould gave been in great shape, too. Did he Change the color in the repaint?
Hi P F, He shares the car was faded as he thought the odometer went around once, and when taking parts off, he realized it had not gone around once.
💯🔥😍🔥💯
:-)
7:08-7:39 - Lou, I think you're right. That curve, that "haunch & hips," the "Coke bottle shape with a waist" as Chris said - all those things also just naturally appealed to me as a kid, too.
Maybe it's a guy thing - maybe we all respond innately to that curvaceaous "haunch & hips"?.... (even when we were just little boys and not at all interested in girls)
Hi P F, The curvy ones are nice :-)
@@loucostabile The cars, too, Lou. ;-D

Steve McQueen wasn't in the charger, he was in the 67 mustang GT.. chasing the 67 R/T charger . . . in the movie Bullit anyways
Yes Dean, of course we know that, so use your imagination and go with the flow........
Purdy car.
Nice :-)
I wonder who owned this before and how many owners it had
Hmmm, not sure.
Tachometer doesn’t work?
Does it have one? The dial to the left of the speedometer is a plain clock.
@@razvancalin6453I thought that clock inside tachometer, now I understand that second circle must be seconds dial
@@ivanmamedov90 Yeap, it's not the Tic-Toc-Tach, it's just a plain ol' time-telling contraption :D. Good eye for detail, though!
Sounds like you figured this out.
Nice Car ! Beyond that I dunno what to say ?
because I have an even nicer unrestored/unrebuilt 1969 Charger R/T SE survivor example in factory X9 Black sitting in my garage, albeit, the odometer says 154,000 miles ?
Just say'in.... and I have full ownership provenance on mine back to when sold brand new in San Diego Ca...
but my Broadcast Sheet is in far nicer condition as is it's Fender Tag and on and on and on.... albeit, although still running well it is starting to show some Blow-by at the V/Cover breather ?
What are these Cars worth nowadays in 'original' unrestored V/Good condition ??????
