  • Extensive rust? Check. Measurable body damage? Yep. Missing rare, nearly impossible to find interior pieces? Absolutely. What could possibly be a better fitting project car for my fuzzy headed brother?

    Thank you for reversing what the movies did and do to these Chargers... Every one of them is worth saving... It's a Catch 22, right? If the car wasn't so beautiful, it wouldn't be destroyed so often for the sake of art. But if it wasn't such a popularly filmed car in movies, there wouldn't be as much attention for it.

    In 1998 I looked at a 70 Charger 500 383 4 bbl car that had likely been used to tow a boat here on Long Island. The entire rear quarters and trunk pan were gone, seemingly from being dunked in salt water during launching off a boat ramp. The rust seemed to stop at the cowl. The interior looked like it got mauled by a bear. Still, it fired right up and ran great off a 5 gallon jug of gas suspended by bungee cords in what used to be the trunk area. It was so much work that I walked away. Fast forward to today and that car in that basket case condition would have probably fetch low 5 figures.

      @@DeadDodgeGarage I'm glad some people have the means and stamina to do so. I love the look of the 68-70 generation even though I own a pristine survivor of a 74 for the last 25 years. It's my Richard Petty Charger, even if it just has a little 318.....😎

    By far the biggest mistake I ever made was selling my Mr. Norms '69 Charger B5 blue black vinyl top many years ago. Had a strong running 440 with a factory 4-speed and was a very clean and solid #2 condition car entered in a few car shows. Regret it to this day..

    It's a smile maker just like it is....but, it will be even better once it's a driver. Would be fun as Roadkill/General Mayhem style that might get more attention than a 100 point restored car.

    Ironically my dad when I was like 6 had a 69 dodge charger pale yellow with the black interior and roof, and it was a 318 2bbl and a automatic transmission and it actually had rusty rear quarters my dad drove it until he decided he would rather have a decentish 68 gmc c2500 370 v8 4spd with bulldog gear, and two inch straight pipes out under the rear bumper no mufflers that truck was loud!!!! And drove it until someone wanted the truck to piece their 67 gmc 3/4 4x4 back together and traded my dad the ugliest pale blue 74 dodge charger se I have ever seen but was a very solid low mileage 318 quadrajet 4bbl column shift automatic transmission car, but even though my dad drove it back and forth to work since the gmc was his work truck, he acquired the blue 74 dodge charger se to put a rusty 72 dodge 340 Rallye charger with the Factory 4spd still in the car bought in a junkyard for $200 and my dad seen it sitting in the weeds behind some guys barn and paid $800 for a car with no title?!

    Be both interesting and maybe scary to get that car reverse-electralysis dipped.
    You would know what is gone & what is solid.
    After that?
    Be tempting to plop the '69 charger body onto the front frame-engine-floorpan-rear suspension of a wrecked late model Hemi Charger or Challenger.
    You could rework the dash for the late-model cluster & steering wheel/column..

    • @DeadDodgeGarage
      @DeadDodgeGarage  Год назад +1

      Everybody is using crown Vics for that too apparently? Tempting indeed, but other than the one frame rail I think it’s… mostly kinda ok underneath. But we’ll see.

    That car is worth saving you said it’s a 383 4 bbl The 5th digit is H not L right. That’s a high-performance big block 4 bbl car! Basically what I’m saying is, it’s worth saving more so than an L code? Do you see what I mean? I’m not being sarcastic or anything I know you know all this

    • @DeadDodgeGarage
      @DeadDodgeGarage  Год назад +1

      I know exactly what you’re saying. Honestly I don’t care if it’s a slant six car, it’s worth saving! But it’s cool that it’s a 383 4 barrel. I didn’t verify vin digit myself but brother did. My ‘68 is a factory 383 2 barrel car.
