🤔 NEW HERE? 🤔
Hi! My name is Christopher Odd and I’ve been playing video games on the internet for a few years. I really enjoy a variety of games but generally lean towards games with a unique and engaging story (Bioshock, The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us etc), strategy/roguelike games (XCOM 2 War of the Chosen, Darkest Dungeon, etc), and RPGs (Dark Souls, Dragon Age, etc). Of course, I am always looking for great indie games too!

XCOM 2 is the sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the 2012 award-winning strategy game of the year.
Earth has changed. Twenty years have passed since world leaders offered an unconditional surrender to alien forces. XCOM, the planet’s last line of defense, was left decimated and scattered. Now, in XCOM 2, the aliens rule Earth, building shining cities that promise a brilliant future for humanity on the surface, while concealing a sinister agenda and eliminating all who dissent from their new order.
Only those who live at the edges of the world have a margin of freedom. Here, a force gathers once again to stand up for humanity. Always on the run, and facing impossible odds, the remnant XCOM forces must find a way to ignite a global resistance, and eliminate the alien threat once and for all.
XCOM ON THE RUN: Take command of the Avenger, an alien supply craft converted to XCOM’s mobile headquarters. New open-ended gameplay lets you decide where to guide your strike team, how to grow popular support, and when to combat enemy counter-operations.
RECRUIT RESISTANCE FIGHTERS: Five soldier classes, each with its own skill tree, let you create specific soldiers for your tactical plan.
TACTICAL GUERRILLA COMBAT: New gameplay systems offer more tactical flexibility in combat. Use concealment to ambush enemy patrols. Loot enemies for precious gear and artifacts. Rescue VIPs and save fallen comrades by carrying them to the extraction point.

Also it's wild that 112 episodes in, Odd still haven't touched the Blaster Launcher from the base game's Experimental Powered Weapon proving grounds project. I think he might have just forgotten those exist.
Yeah, he's completely sleeping on a MAJOR useful item there. He could have hit the tower and the annoying enemy sniper at the same time with one of those.
Legate tip: before frosting, take all of your other shots first. That way the frost counter lasts until your next turn.
THIS!!!!
on Legate: suppression and burning should still get through the perks. or, reaper / squadsight combo for that stinky cheese
commander we will need some better rockets in the future
In my campaign I was able to grab 3 psionic units from Exalt and made more of my soldiers into mechs, specifically War Machines. Being able to have Overdrive and Stasis is main reason I am winning. Mad respect for you playing without it AND on legendary.
on Legate: concealed scouting, squadsight sniper with AP rounds, and 4 units with combat presence / inspire / teamwork that can grant extra actions to sniper to take 2 shots. When he is weak enough trigger reaction with squadsight, then everyone else moves in and shoots.
Getting out was the only call.
You might want to consider using some of those cores on "Experimental Powered Weapon" projects in the proving ground. Might be helpful to have upgraded rocketlaunchers/flamethrowers/railguns that do more than 4 damage and can actually be aimed.
Also! Dogpile looks really cool! If you ran in with a melee attack, and didn't kill, then you could have someone else shoot the target and youd get a second melee attack for free!
THIS!!!!
Intense. Stress. Thank goodness for the evac, but not before some last-min added stress of Puddin' Pop and Camazotz standing out in the open to take the device down LOL
The taipan did so much work marking Puddin' Pop from afar. Really neutralised him.
Makes it ideal for having stealth and two snipers on missions with them in it.
Well, I can tell this was recorded yesterday -- a change I made at the end of the day (around midnight) two days ago is live in this episode, so it is at most that old, and there are member comments from late yesterday, so it is at least that old. :)
Is there a mod that allows you to open windows? that way you don't have the risk of breaking through if you want to stay in stealth.
Good decision there to leave, Commander.
And we are finally going for the main mission! Good luck!
My suggestion for the Legate: Firebrand on CAS to cover evac, then Rod from God the whole site.
Where do I research that Rod from God 😁
Looks like the Legate's All for Her Glory ability (grants organic allies invulnerability) only activates in a fixed radius around the Legate of about 10 tiles or so (or possibly all the units he has vision on - not mentioned in the feature's description) since Rapunzel was able to kill the Elite Officer at 47:25. The devil is in the (slowly revealed) details... Wow, what a beautiful mission to watch/pause again to analyze! Thanks, Commander
Only The Legate's Pod members benefit.
Odd uses rockets all the time, but it's like he can't even conceive of buying better ones. Those options just don't even appear in his vision or something.
Your cannon unit with the psi amp. Obscuridaddy would be great with that phase walk ability i think.
Also good luck commander!!!
Excellent call, Commander! Squad wipe was in your future if you didn't do what you did. The XCOM gods are fickle - they givith the Oddsman but taketh away with the crystalline cornea. Legate is so OP it's crazy, and on top of that grants invulnerability to its podmates until it's dead? Honestly, ridiculous. Legate strategy, IMHO? (1) complete the mission objective and evac if can't snipe it from a distance - most reliable one for me to date. (2) load up on healing, save the Legate pod for last, and freeze/suppress/smoke/stasis/burn as best as possible. Advanced rockets may help here. Be prepared for casualties :( (3) choose missions with no Mechapedes or Legates if humanly possible! I honestly don't know how you will be able to do the golden path missions if these units are present with a strong supporting cast. As an aside, I can't remember any of your other campaigns where a sniper has gotten the snot knocked out of him as much as poor Puddin' Pop, yet he lives! May miracles never cease :)
I was in intense fear the whole mission, and breathed a huuuge sigh of relief when the Evac got set down. That taipan really neutralised Puddin' Pop this episode.
Pretty much this. You've just got to plan accordingly when a Legate shows up in the Shadow Chamber, then be prepared to freeze it and just all-in on the thing. If you can't get it in one turn, suppress the shit out of it and pray, then finish it off the next turn. Also, it does take more frequent ticks from dot effects, and it looks like it can be hit with fire and acid.
@@everithh I wonder how random the Legate drawing a Taipan Chasseur for its pod is, 'cause what an advantage it has (like it doesn't have enough already!) if you can't snipe the Legate from a distance, and you can't kill it while the Legate is alive (a beautiful Catch-22)!
@@Wolfeson28 does suppression neutralize its ability to use Overwhelming Superiority and Overwhelming Firepower, though? If so, that's the best solution. If not, well, I've never been able o kill a Legate or Mechapede in one turn, and the consequences have been dire without distance sniping :(
@@Wolfeson28 All-in and THEN freeze it.
Every time. Man.. It just touches my heart with the story.. Man.. I'm old and played the first ones.. This X-com -thing.. Is so personal and... I give a shit. It's like 30+ years. Easy.
How do you obtain a fully psionic soldier like Future Gift Farms with the entire psi tree? Is capturing from exalt the only way?
yep only way
I believe all the base game classes can only be obtained from exalt captures
Oh Streamer knoweth nothing but xcom. I like others shall perish in wait and so forth leave thy grove.
Am replaying the mission this AM in HD - so much easier to read! It looks like the Legate activated when 'zotz moved down from the building to ground level - in hind sight (always 20/20 of course!) might have been better staying up top and working on taking out the other enemies instead. Also, might (or it might not have worked out) have been able to grapple Puddin' Pop to the opposite building, breaking line of sight and thus tracking shot from the Taipan and getting in some squadsight snipes at the Legate while there were still Lost to occupy it. This would be an interesting one to load the save game and replay to see if this would work to hone tactics against the Legate/Mechapede in the future. BTW, Joe owes you big time, Rapunzel!
Finally a mission with my character! Too bad RUclips is soo slow with the encoding :(
Been awhile since I saw the actual campaign missions but is the unknown enemy not an avatar? Could be totally wrong but feel like it’s a vanilla unknown
I think we've already seen avatars. Some of the utility of "enemy unknown" in the shadow chamber readout is somewhat reduced with these mods because there are so many variants of the names of the mod enemies, but their differences are only slight.
@@jwbaker maybe titan or colussus !
Stealth and snipers and damage over time. Frost worked so having two frost bombs 💣 is important I think too. Good idea to finish the objective and gtfo.
I have been playing along with this season, suddenly all missions crash the game on entering the mission , done the reload verify files re-download and all the normal fixes but nothing works for me this season is very bugged and the legate needs a slap with the nerf bat asap.
Rapunzel's "Vitals shot" would confuse him. It is just one other idea on top of what others said. I am scared of that thing in my own campaign, and I am playing Hard Mode + Legendary. Wish me luck! Also, I think you made a good call. I would have evaced too.
I believe that counts as a mental impairment? So He's probably immune to that??
It's better to finish the objective and run, than risk a dead soldier. There is no rule that says you have to kill everything.
Can stasis work on a mechapede?
Yes. It works on the Legate too, but he forgot that.
Please get experimental or powered rockets, odd! Please!
Requiem units scale ... appropriately, honestly. It's funny how difficult early units are for your power level, and how you can stomp them now but the newer, more powerful units retain the same level of scary as you power up.
The biggest difference, in terms of winning a campaign tho', is that it's relatively easy to replace a fallen Cpl, Sgt, Lt but not a higher ranking officer, and you need their skills to beat the big boys.
"I don't think I need this" as he hovers over the pcs slot that says he needs it. I love these videos but he has a tendency to not slow down and read things and it's gotten him in trouble
